Malaysian billionaire, Ananda Krishnan, has issued a statement declaring that he isn’t interested in buying Newcastle United. The statement, issued by one of his companies, Usaha Tegas, reads:

“News reports were carried on July 5 and July 6 in various newspapers in Malaysia and Singapore that Mr Ananda Krishnan or companies owned by Mr Krishnan had expressed an interest in purchasing Newcastle United Football Club and that his representatives had been engaged in talks to explore or even conclude such a deal.

“There is in fact no truth or foundation to this story.

“Mr Krishnan has not expressed an interest in purchasing Newcastle United Football Club, has not sent any delegation to Newcastle to engage in such talks or authorised any representatives to negotiate on his behalf and is not considering any such purchase,”

Of course, virtually all the reporting on the Newcastle United sale has been complete and utter guff, as virtually all details of the ongoing sale have been wrapped up in non-disclosure agreements which participants in the sale would hardly break for some silly newspaper story. This however has not stopped the drivel machine making up the most ludicrous stories, including Krishnan’s prosective purchase, which has now been revealed for specious fairytale that it is.

  1. Who now then? The Singapore Profitable Group or FFS. O dear.. Just shows you cant believe what you read. Wonder were this story first came from? Was it the gutter press? Tbh i was hoping it was going to be Ananda Krishnan with all his $$$$$s.

  2. Means nothing; Louise Taylor, Lee Ryder et al know about as much as you or I when it comes to the finer details of the goings-on regarding the prospective sale of Newcastle United – all speculation.

    I’ll wait until the sale is officially confirmed, and in the meantime will continue to ignore the ‘insiders’ and gossip-merchants alike.

  3. Who has actually confirmed that the group being shown round were actually Malaysian?

    No disrespect but they could have been from India,Singapore,Indonesia or Hong Kong.

    We just don’t know, like everyone else.

    Although I do know I’m losing the will to live and I can’t see us finding anything out this week.

  6. This crap is seriously starting to get to me. I don’t know if you guys saw it, but that “David Craig” character was on the .com talking about Shepherd coming in with his son being in control of transfers again. He eventually buggered, but now I’m starting to fear the worst. I also heard something about a press conference at SJP on Friday?? I don’t know what that’s all about. Please let something be figured out soon!

    Andrew, even if he was the real David Craig, there’s no way in a million years that he would have access to that kind of information. There won’t be any “leaks” or anything of that kind regarding this sale. Keith Harris and Seymour Pierce will ensure complete confidentiality as the process proceeds, and they’re VERY good at that sort of thing.

    We really need to ignore all rumours and ‘inside’ info as it all turns out to be false.

    There are only a handful of people who know what’s going on and my aunties sister or mate who cleans the changing room at SJP aren’t in that handful!

    It was always going to be like this though regarding the timescale. The main thing is that Ashley keeps trying to sell at the WORST possible times regarding the “knock-on” effect to the team.

    It’s really good to see you back anyway, and I hope you had a nice time apart from the Toon anguish! :-)

    As I’ve said before, I wouldn’t mind if they made it obvious it was speculation, but they pass it off as fact.
