It was rumoured that Harewood was a target for us on transfer-window-close-day but the signing failed to materialise.
Apparently he was also a target for Hull (who isn’t?) but they failed to bag the striker too, and now it seems Hughton is keen to snap him up as an ’emergency’ loan.
Harewood started his career with Forest, scoring 55 goals in 196 appearances and then he moved to West Ham in 2003 for a fee of £500,000 where he scored 47 goals in 142 games.
In July 2007 he was transferred to Villa for a reputed £4m fee but he failed to secure regular starts and O’Neill used him mainly as a ‘super sub’. He scored 5 goals in 29 appearances for Villa before being loaned out to Wolves in March 2009 until the end of the season.
Harewood is recovering from a foot injury but is believed to be close to fitness now.
Apparently his nickname is ‘Alf’.
marlon has proved he can do a job at this level,so i would say get him in.
i have read views on marlon on other blogs, who are completley slating the lad.some of these people make me laugh, they still seem to think you have clout when you go down.they still mention silly unrealistic signings, and have the temerity to belittle players like harewood.
people need to wake up,and realise that horses for courses are required in the fizzy.marlon harewood fits this bill ffs, okay he maybe not prem quality, but at this level is as good as anything else.
