Newcastle appear to have lost out on Ziani

Ziani move to Newcastle in doubt
Destination Turkey?
If foreign media is to be believed it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Karim Ziani will become Alan Pardew’s second signing for Newcastle United.

The Daily Mail today tells us that Ziani is looking likely to sign for Newcastle, despite his alleged feud with Hatem Ben Arfa following a training ground bust-up a few years ago.

Foreign media tells a different story however.

Apparently, Ziani flew to Turkey yesterday and has all but signed for Kayserispor who are currently 4th in Turkey’s ‘Super Lig’.

It is reported that Kayserispor coach Shota Arveladze managed to win Ziani over despite interest in the player from Galatasaray.

The deal will apparently take the form of a loan until the end of the season with an option to purchase for 2.5m Euros thereafter.

It seems that Kayserispor are also prepared to meet the player’s wage demands of 69,000 Euros a week (£50,500) which could well have been one reason why he was a no-go for Newcastle. I can’t imagine Ashley paying him that sort of wage.

Ziani appears to have confirmed the speculation in the foreign press, saying:

Yes, I am in Turkey. The purpose of my presence, and as you know, of course, is to meet officials of the club Kayserispor who invited me to begin discussions about my possible transfer.

Now if we can find agreement, I can sign maybe even today.

Although I should warn you that that’s a loose translation based on my grade 4 CSE French. He could well have been talking about his intent to take up yak farming in Bolivia for all I know.

  1. He was never signing for us. We have been distancing ourselves from him for about a week now. We probably just inquired and the rest is all bull fed to foreign media by his agent.

  2. Bothroyd would not be a cracking signing. He’s the ultimate journeyman and what can he do that Best can’t ? Plus it would just mean endless high balls, as if we don’t have enough of that at the moment !!

Give us some technically good ball players like El Arabi, Tarabaat to make us not so one dimensional.

Bothroyd is a typical pardew signing, very ordinary and mediocre.

Mind you Pardew dropped Tevez for harewood before curbishley saved the day at west ham, so this is the calibre of manager we’ve got, absolute garbage.

With all the excitement and speculation going around about potentially exciting, skilful and creative signings , he is trying to dump us with Bothroyd. It stinks.

  3. I don’t thiink Zaini is good signing but Bothroyd is the worst ! He’s no better than Shola and Best. Typical waste of money.

  4. ‘It seems that Kayserispor are also prepared to meet the player’s wage demands of 69,000 Euros a week (£50,500)’

Money for old rope. Don’t want Bothroyd either.

  5. i think bothroyd is a canny player , hes loads beta than ranger , loven and best ! i dnt like best , 1 gud game doesnt really show me hes gna b our super striker ! hope im wrong tho lads!

  6. Bothroyd has been in great form in the past two seasons, nothing wrong with signing in-form players in my opinion!! He is definitely better than Loven and Best. Ranger is one for the future. I would much rather be going into games with Bothroyd as second striker or as an option from the bench than Ranger in the 2nd half the of the season.

  7. Also we have to be realistic, it seems that some supporters think we should be challenging for one of the CL places! I read on the ‘other’ blog that we should go for Benzema!! And we wonder why we get labelled as deluded…

  8. MattyB….

Benzema? must have been tounge in cheek.

I personally don’t know why we would go for Boothroyd. He has never been a consistant goalscorer. Chopra is better than him, and he was a complete waste of space.

  9. The funny thing is that it wasnt, they were saying that surely we are a bigger pull than Aston Villa and that we should fight them to land him lol

  10. On a side note,

I wonder if the Mackems will fill over half of the stadium for the first time this season?
Reading their fans predictions, most reckon they will do us 2-1 with a couple saying 3-0.
We have lost there once in the last 7 games at the stadium of sh*te. Also, a team nicknamed the magpies have already done them there this season.

Even if we were to lose 2-1 for a 25% loss rate at theirs. It’s still 6-3 on aggregate.

Not that we will lose, just saying….

  11. zaini is not in turkey dont kn ow where them reports came he ment to be haveing a medical today and in the team for sunday

  12. WORKY,cannot comment much as net keeps crashing, now getting problems with phone line doing my heed in,trying to sort it,off all day y/day :(

I dont remember writing this :)

Dont worry Nick Bothroyd wont happen because he’s too old and doesnt fit the profile. Unless of course Pardwho is telling Laurel and Hardy he wants experience !!!!!

  14. Batts, does the governor know you are papering the cell Walls? You might get parole with that.

  15. I don’t think that the clube were ever after him … or bothroyd.

We need to remember that if there is nothing coming out of the club the red tops will just make it up :(

I will believe any transfer speculation only when its posted on the website, with a photo of the player holding a shirt :)

    ===

I was referring to the top secret killer yaks bred by the US government and farmed in Bolivia.

I thought everyone had heard of them.
