Stevenage v Newcastle match highlights and Pardew post match interview videos.

Posted on January 9th, 2011 | 51 Comments |

Highlights of the game.

Post match interview with Alan Pardew, where he speaks of Stevenage not allowing his players to play, of Newcastle players “running on empty” and being “shot”. He also defends Tiote’s sending off.

Personally, I’m not sure that it’s a good excuse to say that the players were “running on empty” and “shot”, when everyone knows that lower league teams such as Stevenage play more games, as we did last season in The Championship. They obviously have far less resources to run a big squad of players. As well as this, many of them are part timers who have to hold down day jobs as well as training and playing matches.

  1. Personally I think Pardew did his job and I would like to hear from the players what their excuse was. They’re the ones that win or lose the game not Pardew, although he is the one who will get the blame.

  2. To add to your up-date worky, any of their players would run through walls to sign for a premier league club. We are supposed to have “quality” in our squads. We might have been better putting the U18’s team out.

“Personally I think Pardew did his job”

Yes he did do his job DJG, but he did it very poorly. Especially when you look at the changes he made at half time, which took a bad situation and made it catastrophic IMO.

  4. I didn’t agree either with the tactics, for example Perch instead of Kadar, Smith ect. but at least he played what he believed to be his strongest side, which C.H didn’t against Arsenal and for me really was unexcusable.

  5. Tbh worky whatever side he put out should have comfortably beaten Stevenage. Are you suggesting we needed the tactical nouse of the management to be able to beat the dog and duck. Apart from Barton, the players underperformed grossly.

  6. MU and LPool seem to have their strongest possible teams out. I reckon it’ll be an MU win to give the best Schadenfreud effect. :)

LPool out of the cup and in the championship, brilliant.

  7. Pardew communicates the game well AFTER the event. He manages NUFC at the end of the day, with the huge following, media attention and resourcs which come with the club. Yesterday was a disaster for all associated with the club, fans included of course and should be a huge embarassment for seasoned professionals like Smith, Tiote, Barton, Nolan, Collocini, Simpson…everyone in fact. I wouldn’t like to have that one on my resume.. Toon fans be prepared to have this one rammed down our throats for years to come…Hereford revisited…

  8. DJG

fergie doesn’t talk to BBC because panorama did a programme where they alledged that one of his son’s who is a football agent was involved in dodgy or a lot of the deals the manure club done

  9. the gerrard apologists already saying it wasn’t deserved. What does Gerrard have to do for the idiots in the media who fawn over him to see him for the thug he is.

  10. Just listened to Pardew’s post match interview. Does he want to blame the caterers, the coach driver aswell? Pathetic. ‘the narrow pitch made it difficult for our crossing etc players playing on empty (well use different ones you pillock)

  11. Munich, on the positive side perhaps the Hereford reruns might now be dropped. ;)

Bud it were a nasty one and Howard Webb MBE (or is it OBE) don’t take no prisoners. Bad penalty call though.

  12. TBF worky weren’t all their games cancelled over Christmas because of the bad weather?
Not that it’s any excuse like.
Also dunno if anyone saw the fan hitting the player that we seem to be getting the blame for, but I did a little research last night and found a youtube video taken by a Stevenage fan clearly showing the guy’s face & him running on the pitch complete with a red, black & white Stevenage scarf.
    This is the video: http://youtu.be/dlvVgkXA_r0

And here is a still of the guy taken from the video: http://t.co/g7Q7kQQ

  13. 2 signings at the most in jan = winger and striker wot we are crying out for , pardues tatics yesterday was embarrising , why didnt not just play our 2nd team? risking tiote has left us without tiote for the scumderland game , great pardwho … IDIOT , roll on benny and gosling in the team eh!!

  14. Pathetic. ‘the narrow pitch made it difficult for our crossing etc players playing on empty (well use different ones you pillock)

thats the prob deb, he tried replacing jose nd jonas, nd few others but there just not good enough. our 1st 11 is v canny, but as weve been saying for past 12 months a few injuries or suspensions nd we struggle.

without pionting the finger at specific players i think a couple who played yesterday will find thenselves iether sold or loaned out iether this jan or in summer.they proved yesterday they dont have the ability or fight to be at our club, end of.

i agree tho with the why didnt he swap smith nd barton argument tho. a little embarassing ok, but we need to pick ourselves up nd consolidate our progress in EPL, starting with the scum nxt sun

  15. nowt apart from the algerian articale yesterday that said we had agreed a fee of 2.8m n ziani had agreed 3/half year deal n it was only subjuct to a medical so lets hope so

Not that it’s any excuse like.”

TBH I divven’t knaa for sure, Toonlad, so you may know more on that score. I only know that lower league teams had to cancel quite a few games generally because they don’t have undersoil heting and such. However, as you might know from our spell in the Championship, the games come thicker and faster in the lower leagues, and they only have relative pittances to maintain squads. Therefore I still don’t think that Pardew’s comments about the players “running on empty” are very valid.

  17. ‘running on empty’.

I think Smith has been running on bullsh## for most of his career. Pardew talks about Ranger needing to train better. What about this guy who is on £60K a week and does bugger all in the actual matches. He must be a good trainer or con artist or talker or something coz he’s conned Hughton and now Pardew. Mugs.

“TBF worky weren’t all their games cancelled over Christmas because of the bad weather?”

Oh aye! I forgot to mention in my last comment that most of the Stevenage lads are only part timers with day jobs too. Quite a few of them’ll do a days bricklaying or plumbing or whatever it is they do on top of all the training.

  19. Worky,

Are you saying they are working class sons of toil !!!
Surely there must be some part time lawyers, architects or professional people amongst them.

  20. lol why is it that lower league footballers are always a sparky or a bricklayer or something. Surely that is a steroetype.

“lol why is it that lower league footballers are always a sparky or a bricklayer or something. Surely that is a steroetype.”

    Aye, you’re probably right, DJG.

  22. Well actually, the first time when we scraped through on a replay, we were one of the powerhouses of football and they wern’t even in the football league. It is obviously their game of the season every year and we just didn’t show them any respect. So in a word we deserved nowt. The way they played I can see them knocking out Reading in the next round aswell coz they’ve got another home tie. I don’t think there would be many teams outside the top 6 or so that would fancy goin to that place tbh if they watched last night. Thats not to say we wern’t awful like but giving them credit.

  23. hows every1 think we wil do against the mackems then? and when is gosling gna start his first game?

  24. thing thats going to haunt me is we will get this result shoved in our faces everytime the f.a.cup comes round, sick of the radford crap now this :(

  25. Of late Williamson, Perch, Routledge, Smith, Best and Loken have`nt played much so where is this running on empty coming from.
If Campbell does`nt want to play for us get him off the wage bill.

  26. Must admit, I thought Routledge would have murdered a league 2 side like. Im starting to see why he has had about 10 clubs, the guy flatters to deceive. As for Smith, he is just very average indeed and wouldn’t have looked that out of place playing for Stevenage imho.

  27. routledge , smith , perch, williamson , krull , ameobi , ranger ARE ALL championship players man , haway pardue wake up , these players are not good enough for the premiership !! but thats the toon 4 u , wil always have shite players and the few good that play there heart out for the team!!

    I telt ye man! ;-)

  29. So what,we lost to a lower league team on a lower league bog of a pitch, with a makeshift team of second stringers (Perch, Routledge, Krul etc). Forget it its happened before to us many times even when the FA cup meant something to the big clubs. This season only one thing is important to NUFC and that is at least another 13points to give us EPL safety.Everybody groaning on here must know that cos Im sure that that Ashley and Pardew do.

  30. Still nothing coming in on the transfers eh

Had enough of Smith, Perch and Routledge, just not good enough for this league
