No way Jose’s going to Liverpool says Pardew.

Enrique: Situation still as clear as mud!
Enrique: Situation still as clear as mud!
Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew has come out and denied any knowledge of a “done deal” that would make left back, Jose Enrique follow in the footsteps of Andy Carroll in a move to Liverpool FC.

Pardew told Tyneside newspaper, The Chronicle:

“There’s definitely no deal between the clubs – 100 per cent.

“He’s under contract here until next summer. And we hope to open talks on a new deal as soon as possible.

“That’s where we are.”

Pardew than concluded by saying:

“We want to keep our best players, and Jose’s one of them.

“As far as anything being a done deal, that’s not true. We want Jose to stay. Nothing’s changed.”

Though of course, he also said about Andy Carroll before his £35 million move to Liverpool in January:

“We’ve given the answer to anyone whose contacted us that he’s not for sale. It’s as simple as that.”

“I can’t say to you strong enough, Andy Carroll will not leave this football club in this window. 100 per cent.”

Pardew’s latest denial comes in the wake of comments by former Liverpool defender and assistant manager, Phil Thompson. He told Nowegian TV channel, TV2:

“From what I’ve heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool.”

Then adding:

“It’ll be interesting because he’s done very well. He had a difficult first season coming into the Premiership a couple of years ago but he really understands the game now.

“He’s one of those full backs who is good going forward but he’s also a good defender and I think that is the main thing.”

In the light of previous form, Pardew’s words of reassurance will offer little comfort, and it could indeed take until the summer to see how this story will end one way or the other.

  1. well this is the whole crux of the problem with pardew, who believes him?.he said the same thing about carroll, and we all know how that turned out.
i think he should learn to keep his mouth shut,if jose does get sold,he is going to look like a dick all over again.we need to hear this from the shower, who are running the club, otherwise alan cannot be making these statements.they just dont hold any water,to be honest,he should know this himself.if i was him,i’d tell llambias to come out and say it,instead of making him look stupid.

  2. In all fairness the caroll deal was done late on when no one expected such a stupid bid, world record for a British player, and even then it was rejected till he got greedy and asked for more money so we called his bluff.
Can any of you say you would have kept him at this point

  3. If we get into a similar situation with Enrique. Ie a stupid bid and he refuses to pen a new deal, again take the money and reinvest!

“If we get into a similar situation with Enrique. Ie a stupid bid and he refuses to pen a new deal, again take the money and reinvest!”

Djm, If we get into a similar situation with Enrique, I’m not sure if it will be a really stupid bid this time as Enrique’s contract, unlike Carroll’s, is fast running out. Unless perhaps AC Milan, a club that Enrique has also been linked with, or even someone else, starts a bidding war. Whatever happens in the end though, it’s still just gossip and speculation at the moment.

Of course, there is also the alternative of taking the money and not reinvesting, but that’s just me being a tad cynical. ;-)

  5. This is the same guy that said “Andy Carroll is going nowhere!”

Ah Well, at Least Jose helped us back to the Prem, good luck with your new Club Jose!!

  6. One wonders if Pardew is being used as an Ashley mouthpiece and knows about the deal (if one exists?, apparently Thompson seems convinced)or in fact he`s being thrown under a bus ?
As for Enrique, he`s obviously keeping schtum, whether by his agent or the club , who knows ?
Aint life grand under this regime !
Hey ! if a fifteen million deal has in fact been done, thats fine by me, face it that`s way over the top for the guy.

“Hey ! if a fifteen million deal has in fact been done, thats fine by me,”

There have been various plucked out of thin air figures bandied around on the gossip mill, Chuck. They seem to be varying between £6 million and the £15 million you are quoting.

  8. worky, there all having a go on the other site lol, saying your right up st chris’s jacksy, and this is an anti pardew blog.

  9. its all pardhows fault if hooters was still here we would still have carroll and jose and barton would have signed up by now.

It has nothing to do with that really, Trojan, it’s just any excuse to have a go for various other reasons. It’s quite sad really how they’re so obsessed with little old me, but they don’t have anything better to do I suppose. :-)

  11. Workey
Yeah, probably worth around what we paid for him or a bit more, find it hard to believe anyone would pay fifteen, that was my point.
Though after the Torres & Carroll deals, who know ?

    Trojan
You name yourself after the people of Troy or the brand name of a rubber ?

Or the legendary record label, Chuck.

  13. Looks like Thompson was talking off the top of his head, AC Milan have been reported to have a rep. @ Newcastle to negotiate a rumored bid of eleven million.
Then again a deal could have been arranged with Pool which has now become a bidding war with the Italian club.
    Stay tuned !

“worky,i am still a skin,a proper one though, not one of them bonehead nazi’s.”

Aye, didn’t think you’d be one of those, Trojan!

  15. Of course there’s no deal between the clubs. If or when there is, you can rest assured that Ashley’ll have squeezed any buying club til it’s squeaked and extracted a grossly inflated fee from anyone daft enough to pay it. In short, Jose’ll probably leave and I hope, nay trust that we learned from AC’s move and have a ready made replacement signed beforehand. Yup, it’s gonna be an interesting window!

  16. Chuck says:

“Looks like Thompson was talking off the top of his head”

thats presumably the PC equivalent of talking out his arse ?.

Cannot be bothered with any speculation at this club any more as we all know what happens when these three lying scumbags tell us there’s nothing to worry about :(

On a brighter note, it looks like the Albion fans took to Kaz during his stay down there! I wonder if Pardwho has said he’s not going anywhere either ? FTF !!!!

  17. Look,
let’s get this straight, once & for all.
Whatever AP said with regard to ‘you know who’ leaving is rendered void by the FACT that ‘said player’ WANTED TO LEAVE, SO DID.
He wanted more money, couldn’t get it until the end of the season at the earliest, so went off to scouseville.
    Over & out!

None of this shit even matters, ever.
It’s all down to player power now, with an agent in their lughole, of course.
To suggest otherwise is either naivety of the highest order or an agenda to bash someone with.
To spend a few months giving one’s self an ulcer or attempting to induce one in somebody else is……..Fill in the blank!

    :)

  18. What is it that compels you to keep moaning about the same old things? Ok, so you don’t like Ashley and co, why go on about it in every post? They say nowt about Enrique, so the deal must be true. They deny it, don’t believe them. Pardew is a dummy, can’t believe him, need to hear it from the ventriliquist. The ventriliquest, though, can’t be believed. You think everything they say is a lie, yet you believe the tabloids. You make up fantasies and believe them to be true, and some even call it realism. Fascinating. Truly fascinating. I wish I were a psychiatrist, I’m sure there’d be a book in it.

  19. And I’d better get in before the usual defensive replies comes in. Yes, I know it’s a blog and people are just giving their opinions – as I have done. I know it’s a blog and people can speculate, and what’s wrong with that? Nothing at all. I’m just observing, and what’s wrong with that? Nothing at all – it is a blog after all.

  20. well if jose is to leave is this the decline of Newcastle? of course if we have young fergie to step in but really jose leaving will lead to a Exodus of star players

  21. We cannot dismiss this story, it has to have a foundation as Thompson wouldnt put his rep on the line on TV.
I dont think the club are lying when they say there is no deal in place, but they dont hold the power anymore with player movement, agents will have an agreed deal in place the same way as Bent and Carroll were sorted before the respective clubs caved in and they were both off like a shot, how else can you explain Carroll being given the go ahead at 5pm and signing by 9pm?
How was he able to agree terms and a suitable contract in the space of 4 hours when most deals, especially the big money moves, are always protracted and drawn out?
I dont like it, but unless you are ManU or Citeh, the agents have all the power.

  22. Thompson doesnt know his arse from his ear, as always I will believe it when the player is wearing the shirt…

as for Thompson’s “rep” – what rep exactly? he’s a typical TV ass-clown who will say or do owt to get his name banded about in the vain hope that he looks vaguely important to the game

  23. brisvegas,o/t altogether, but i was wondering if you would answer a couple of questions?
last night i was watching the nrl round four highlights, cronulla sharks had a home game against the nz warriors, why would they give away their home advantage to travel to new zealand,to play the game on their turf.this effectively made it a home game for the warriors, and cronulla got beat.nz warriors are bottom of the pile, and cronulla are top,why would they hand them the advantage, and subsequently lose the game?it doesn’t make any sense?
the other question being, why are the crowds so inconsistant?i’m not having a go,it’s just darren lockyer announces his retirement before the game, and only 25,000 turn up,yet for less important games 50,000 turn up.i’m not just saying this happens at the suncorp, but at other stadiums as well ie canberra, paramatta etc.i was just wondering why the crowds seem to be up and down, some weeks they are full and other weeks empty?i know they’ll have their local derby games, and rivalries, which more people turn up.melbourne storm’s new stadium was full every game, but this season loads of empty seats.

  24. can i make a point…if this 35mill is being spent on wages etc…do we not also factor into account the carrols wages over his 5 year contract that we are now not paying, or any other player we sell? this idea of the money going back into paying for players contracts is a cop out. also i wouldnt sell enrique for 15million, as we will end up buying a cheap back up for a few mill and see the rest spent on giving barton a 2year deal worth 28k or something to that effect. simply put, were better off keeping enrique, and maybe off-loading smith to pay for bartons wages (if ashleys current logic is to be adhered to)

You keep believing that CF if it makes you feel happy :)

Bottom line is Fatman was hawking AC around long before the end of the transfer window so get used to it.

The fact that Fatman left it as late as possible so he couldnt spend any of that money on another player or players is the reality.

If he really cared enough about this club he could have brought in a player, like Sturridge, on loan during the early part of the window (ostensibly to support Carroll) then could have surprised us all by telling us that AC was going for an unbelievable price and the loan player was now our top striker.

    But he didnt. FTF

  27. Who say’s AC was hawked around before the end of the January transfer window?

Harry Redknapp. ffs give me a break, the spive is in court in the summer on tax evasion charges. And it not the first time he has been accused of fraud, the London City police have been trying to bust him for years. The stink of corruption has followed Redknapp around every club he has been at.

  28. HA!

    Andy,
carry on believing any old tat you read in the press mate.

    :)

    Brisvegas,
    get in mate.
    ;)

  29. Toonie1949,
    bang on mate.
Funny how we can not believe our club cos they’ve lied, but we can believe rank & proven liars like harry redknapp & the british press, of all things.
    FFS!

    Excellent!

    :)

  30. “Funny how we can not believe our club cos they’ve lied”

    How is that Funny ??????

It’s the reason why we dont believe them !!!!!!!!

If you make a habit of lying then people (even thick, dense people) will eventually get the message and treat everything you say with pinches of salt (best case) or utter contempt (worst case).

As for listening to the press, along with Appy Arry, I have heard Lawro, David Pleat and several journo’s (Oliver Holt, Ian McGarry to name two) say, more or less, the same thing.

Fatman had his mind made up long before January 31st which is why CH was sacked in December so he wouldnt make “waves”. One thing CH wasnt was an arse licking lap dog !

  31. Reasons why £15m for Enrique is not good business for us.

    1. The money goes to Mike Ashley not us.

    2. The message goes out to the rest of the squad that they are a cattle market, not a football club.

    3. Players who may have considered the Toon will see us as a second rate selling club who challenge for nothing.

We can have these great for the club deals when we are a consistent top 4 club, not when we are trying to improve.

P.S How much would it take for Chiek Tiote to be a good deal for us?
