Derek Llambias: “We have got the players we wanted.”

Owlheed: Has the players he wants.
Owlheed: Has the players he wants.
Speaking to The Telegraph Newcastle United Managing director, Derek Llambias has said that Newcastle United now have the players that they wanted thanks to acting early in the transfer window, and once again reassured fans that not a single penny of Andy Carroll’s (up to) £35 million transfer fee has left the club.

He also also protested that the club’s new signings weren’t cheap, even though two of three incoming players were available without a transfer fee as such due to contract expiration in the case of Sylavain Marveaux, and contract release in the case of Demba Ba. However there have been rumours of a fairly hefty signing on fees and agent’s fees, as much as £4 million each for the two signings. Llambias told the ‘Torygraph’.

“I can assure everyone that not a single penny of the £35 million has left the club and neither will it. It is all going back in.

“We have acted early and we have got the players we wanted, but none of them have been cheap. We have paid good prices for them. They certainly weren’t free transfers, there are fees and wages to consider.

“It is our responsibility to make sure we look after the club responsibly. If we spent all the money on players this summer, what are we going to do in January if we need to bring somebody else in? We are using the money sensibly.”

Does this mean that the club now have ALL the players that they wanted in this transfer window?

  1. I don’t think it does, in answer to your question Workyticket; but it sure does seem difficult to trust this fellow.

  2. id get trucking murdered for this on old Ed’s blog but are they saying the idea of the funds was to run the club? lol..

    /silly little dance..

so thats where the next 10 yrs of subs went lawz.. cool :D

  3. why all the transfer panic? the club are taking their time and rightfully so. makes a difference to the way the club used to panic buy!

  4. one thing is for certain, these gimps who run the club, must read these blogs.it does look like llambias and pardew are rattled.they must be sh****ing themselves for another rebellion on the way.we should keep the pressure on them,it’s sad though because they bring it all on themselves.

  5. Oh well, guess a 4-5-1 formation will give us a mid-table finish then…I am so tired of all the stick us fans have to take…next player out Enrique to Arsenal for about 4mil and Ferguson is ‘more than adequate’ to fill the void.

  6. Me thinks there is a secret kitty to be applied if Enrique pulls the plug. It won’t do to be outscored 5-4 now that there is the talent to get the 4.

In any case, one would have to think Naylor is actually secured despite Swanseas protests, and that there is another wide defender just beyond the horizon.

  7. the prick is trying to say we need money in reserve for january, when do they ever sign players in january?i think it’s only happened on two occassions i know of,during kinnear’s stint, and the window, when we were in the championship.they are far more likely to sell players in january, that’s when most of their skullduggery takes place.

  8. I see that there are still some people clinging on to the slither of a chance that mike wants what is best for the club. Unfortunately I am not one of those people. I think that it has been staggeringly obvious for a lot longer than since the end of the season that these jokers do whatever they like without a shred of consideration to the fans. Hey, why should they?

  9. As long as we get this kind of PR and the squad remains thinner than last season this year’s season ticket renewal rates will be interesting.

Rallying the troops Trojan?!? PMSL…not a cult, fcuking hilarious

  11. thats guy talks sum s**t got all the players we wanted wihout spending a fukin penny wotta a deluded c**t

  12. I don’t trust the board. Too sneaky and snide.

    Another rebellion …?

A few numptys with bedsheets outside the ground.

    The occasional Ashley out chant.

They just sit there and take it … everyone chanting is paying them at least £30 for the privilege.

I’m sure they are thinking 52,000 x £30 …. sing your hearts out you Geordie mugs. Like our free transfers?

  13. Playing Devil’s Advocate… Dekka’s just letting all the agents know that we’ve spunked the £35m on undersoil heating at the training ground, so stop quoting daft prices for your french donkeys and that, cos we’re now skint

  14. I am no fan of the fcb and his mafia but i have got to agree with alot of their policies,no five year contract for nolan is common sense, 35 million for andy carroll is good business bringing in young players who we can recoup transfer fees and wages on is good business.Aston Villa have run on common sense for a few years now and apart from last season have done well from it and have been able to reinvest in the team. The club needs to be run sensibley or better still sold to a mega rich glory seeker who will pump billions into the club

  15. witters, what’s wrong?are we not happy clappy enough for you?as for me rallying the troops, get a grip, people just react to the clubs actions.it’s them making constant mistakes, not me.

  16. witters, the board are obviously taking notice of what is being said on football boards, for them to get rattled.
geoff77,agree the only language ashley understands is money,if we really want to effect change,a few home matches with empty stadiums, will make him take notice.

  17. Dracula says:

At the risk of repeating previous posts

“The hearing declared that the club (which is effectively Fatman and Dracula) had admitted to repeatedly and intentionally misleading the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United”

So no change there then :(

  18. Some fans need to realise Ashley and co are bleeding the club of money, he couldnt care an ounce abt the fans as he has proved ever since he’s been at the club, hes a money making man and the club will never have any ambition while he owns the club, they do nothing but lie to the club yet some fans still say give them a chance, fools if you ask me

  19. The name Trojan brings a certain irony to this blog, doesn’t it TROJAN!?

    Give over.

BTW.. I came to this conclusion after your second comment on this post.

    Over and out.

  20. Too much spin in these words from Llambias for my liking. What about Gervinho and the Gameiro; didn’t we want them too? We sure looked as though we did. Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias spend too long around the poker table keeping their cards too close to their chest trusting nobody, least of all the fans of NUFC. Open up guys, be honest with us – unless Wimbledon Mag @ 16 has sussed their game.

  21. darryl, you’ll fit in well on the other blog,as darryl was a f**king android also, mug.

  22. “I can assure everyone that not a single penny of the £35 million has left the club and neither will it. ”

We know it hasn’t left the club Derek, if it had, we would have actually bought a couple of the players that we need to move forward.
No chance of that with you about though, is there, O slimy odious one!

  23. “The one thing I said to Mike yesterday was: ‘Look, if this boy is going to go, this money has to be reinvested in the team, all of it, and he has assured me of that. For the Newcastle fan, that is the most important message I can give today, that all that money will be used.'”

  24. People grow up we’ve signed four players so far nzogbia if we get him 10 mil, and a striker for same price, we ain’t man city and that and buy any tom Dick and harry we just can’t afford for once can’t we just support what we’ve got and stop bitching about it

“Too much spin in these words from Llambias for my liking.”

Paul, there has been quite alot of spin since the club brought a ‘Goebbels’ in to deal with the media and the fans. It seems to be working with some, though obviously, some remain to be convinced. If I were the spinmaster at SJP, I’d lock Llambias in the safe!

  26. Mike the fact is we havent got N’Zogbia 10 million and a striker for 10 million, so until that sort of thing happens fans have a right to think money wont be spent, it never has and never will while this man owns the club

  27. David villa signs tomorrow

    Pardew hasn’t got a clue

Ashley bleeding the club dry, no investment, 35 million

Truth’s, half truth’s and bare faced lies, but which ones are which

  28. Exactly, why should we believe anything that comes out of Llambias or Pardews mouths, its just lies lies lies all coming from Mike Ashley

  29. I have just added a little on the alleged £2 million signing on fees for Ba and Marveaux, along with the £2 million agent’s fees which Owlheed may be alluding to when he says that the the players weren’t “cheap”. I would stress that it is just speculation though.

  30. Of course Derek is lying, you have to remember that when a player is out of contract he cam command a hefty signing on fee which can either be paid up front or spread across the contract as part of the weekly wage packet. There will also be a ridiculous sum paid to those parasites called agents, well, at least this is how it works for every other free agent who signs for every other club. According to this blog though, we are exempt from this practice and we actually get free agents for free, zilch, gratis! Come on guys, with the signing on payments to all our new players, and a bit of heating for the trainig ground we may have kissed at least 10m away. Add the first years wages for the new players to that and it will be quite a bit more.

  31. Dear Derek, the contempt that you and Mike have for our club and its fans, is obvious. I offer the quotes and link below as evidence, to back up my argument that you hold us of so little worth. It can’t be that you think we can’t read, so it’s obvious you don’t care about the impact your contradictions and deceit have on the Club, its fans and the region in general.

For those of you who are criticising fans for being pessimistic, I strongly suggest you read the following. Maybe then you’ll see where their mistrust and cynicism comes from!

    quotes from last transfer window

“Andy Carroll’s future was one of the items at the top of my agenda. He needs to stay. He is the No.9 of Newcastle.”

“In this window, Andy Carroll is definitely going nowhere”

“The number nine shirt here is legendary and he has shown the fans that he is big enough and good enough to wear it. It will be a massive, massive blow if he left so it’s very important that he stays. Derek assured me that he will.”

  32. Well said and accurately quoted O’Hara (29). What a liar and a weasel that man is.

They treat us like we’ve not got a brain cell amongst us.

Trouble is Worky, Mr. Ashley’s jangling the keys of the safe…

  34. I say “jangling”… they’re probably kept on his belt under several rolls of tummy tucks that few people, if any, ever see – let alone get their hands on.

  35. Paul in Hollywood
losing out on Gamiero and Gervinho doesn’t mean we didn’t want the four lads we have signed.
So far so good for me and long may it continue.

  36. I despise Mike Ashley and Derek Lambias. Theyre fooking w@nkers! Wish they would p!ss off.

Then why not be much more honest and up front and say “we are very happy with the players we have signed” because the bottom line is that we haven’t got (all) the players we wanted, and this is leaving aside Neil Taylor. Don’t we want him too?

Much of this conversation is our personal/gut feelings about the board, and Derek Llambias in particular; and I, for one, just don’t get a good feeling. I wish I did but I don’t. In fact, I think he is a pillock, and the number of people I say that about is very, very few.

  38. There nowt but a bunch ov lie,n ba****ds, every f****n 1 ov them,, they say judge us on Sep 1st, aye so they can say,, well we truest,,but things didn’t go our way,, oh well we,ll try again in jan,, then we,ll get the same bullsh*t, wen r we going 2 realise wat these c**ts r doin 2 our club,, cockney fat bas***d,,rant over

  39. I say we keep an open mind and support Pardwho and Cashley until after the transfer deadline. We don’t know which way it will go and we have been pleasantly surprised so far.

    Agreed?

  40. I would luv nowt more than support the manager, but he hasn’t got a pr ov balls,, & the owner & board hav lied far 2 many times 4 me & I can’t c any change, fat man & pards say the ac cash been invested,, wat bout the other 20m he promised in jan, probably blew it at casino or using £50 notes 2 wipe his fat ar*e with

  41. Just supporting the team & stop whining about bosses would be a canny start FFS.
Who doesn’t hate bosses, overlords etc?

    Welcome to the phucking world!

Howay Lads, move the phuck on!

  42. I’m worried about next season at the moment. Granted Cabaye and co come with impressive CV’s but 2 of our new signings may be injury prone and judging by our record with injuries it provides me with a slight concern. Another concern is the fact that everyone we have signed except for Demba Ba have no premier league experience. We all know from colo and enrique foreign players don’t always adapt straight away to the Prem. This wouldn’t have been an issue if we had kept the nucleus of our squad with Nolan, Barton, Tiote Enrique etc… But now we have got rid of Nolan and Enrique possibly going along with Barton etc… pressure is on the new signings to deliver straight away. Hope I’m wrong and we have a brilliant season but these are a couple of the issues that concern me right now.

  43. Does anyone have anything to share but fear?

Plenty of players adjust just fine, immediately, Tiote being a great example.
Funny how we always look on the dark side, phucking hilarious in fact.

    :)

  44. You’ve got to love the constant negativity from the vocal minority on these blogs Conspiracy theories on Mike Ashley are hysterical!
Without his financial backing NUFC would be in dire straights – FACT! Fat Freddy had mortgaged us up to the eyeballs.

Blaming Pardew and Ashley for the sale of Carroll and now Nolan is madness – both players decided to leave for their own personal reasons. Move on FFS!

I hope the new guys coming in this term are as well sourced as the likes of Tiote!

We’re desperate for a top notch centre forward though, and I’m sure one will be arriving this summer.

    HWTL!

  45. Sorry mate,,, I was just on the understanding that ppl Av a rite 2 say wat the good or the BAD ov this was,, that’s wat this blog is 4 ??? & the min ov the 4 they Av bought in,, aye I agree great biss if they play the way there supposed 2 b able 2 play without gettin injured, but were is this world class international striker we Av been promised since Judas left, £10+ they said

  46. The question we need answered is ‘was the club going to fold if the sale of andy Carroll didn’t happen’?
Without that money we wouldn’t be in a position to maintain the facilities, add any new players or pay any wages…….isn’t that what the club are implying here?

  47. What do we have to complain about? Mike and Derek have already demonstrated their savvy in the January transfer window. How else could they have afforded the Shefki Kuqi free transfer without first selling AC for £35 million?! I mean come on, give Mike and Decca some credit for their ambition and shrewdness!!

  48. It isn’t just Ashley and Co that are masters of spin, there’re a lot of fans, newspapers and blog writers doing their best to outspin the spin doctors.

  49. It is amusing seeing people trying to justify and defend this nasty regime residing insinde the sports direct stadium.
So we have spent 35m on free transfers and undersoil heating….now that is shrewd business indeed….just can’t wait for the next plan or new model we are meant to be following maybe along the lines of Ronnie Biggs spliced with some DNA from Heather Mills

To all the Ashley lovers the dream is dead, the plans where never really planned….you have been cheated.

  50. worky, this article did the job lol,had everyone up in arms.we need some proper debate on the regime, too many people are happy to settle for this mediocrity, that’s being pushed upon them.

  51. what is clear from all these blogs and general feelings is we have ran out of confidence and patience with Ashley and his people.

imagine if we lose our first few games….there will be Hell on!!!!

Keep the Faith!!!!! It’s all we have got!!!

  52. Off subject but who is the guy wearing the no.50 training kit on the offical website’s pictures??

  53. TROJAN 69 says:

“worky, this article did the job lol,had everyone up in arms.we need some proper debate on the regime”

and somewhere in the middle of all the mayhem CF still manages to cling on to the hope that he’s right and 99% of “everyone” is wrong :)

  54. Right reading this looks like money will be invested in newcastle but he does not say in the TEAM, as stated in other comments our two top goal scorers carroll and nolan sold which worries me. I would of thought ashley would and should of learned from relegation the season before. The players that have came in look good but you can only be confident at moment that Ba will get goals.]
So surely we have to buy a striker and a goal scoring midfielder already playing in premiership hopefully Nzogbia. I honestly think the reason we sighned players fast was to try and keep the likes of Enrique happy so it looks like we meen business. Saying we are going to keep money for january seems a bit odd too as everyone knows its hard to get decant players in january as clubs dont want to sell and i can remember pardew actually saying this himself last season.
The summer is the time to sign players and if we dont want to get dragged into a relegation scrap we have to act, im hoping ashley just is trying to keep targets valuations down and will come through with at least three more signings before transfer market is closed.
Think there is still 56 days left, Ashley has a chance to turn peoples thoughts about him around by spending the 35m+ in the team but the summer is the time to act not jan hope you listen to the supporters for once and i hope you prove peoples doubts wrong but i will believe it when i see it.

  55. Dave we have been fed the same drivel every window under this regime and end up losing key players time and time again, the money just seems to vanish (and not on replacement players of similar value)…..I would love someone to actually tot up what has been made on gate money, merchandising, transfers etc under this regime and what has really been spent on incoming players.

40M on free transfers and some heaters

I am expecting Mike to announce the club is back on the market again anytime soon….well after a few more players are sold of course.

  56. “It is our responsibility to make sure we look after the club responsibly. If we spent all the money on players this summer, what are we going to do in January if we need to bring somebody else in? We are using the money sensibly.” …..

january!! it’s now – pre season – we need new players in – we need a center foward a winger & couple of defenders – get the f@ckers bought now & bedded in so we can hit the road running next month.

anyways why are they looking at signings in january?? – it’s probably a couple of million quid they’ve put to one side for the new manager they’ll be appointing to save us from relagation.

good all round managment that – when you give it a bit thought like.

ya bunch of complete wasters – get out of our club.

  57. Andy,
i’m not clinging to anything mate.
You’re presupposing that i am cos i can’t be arsed to argue the toss about the same shit over & over ad infinitum.
Does that make me a bad person?
    :)

If you wanna, knock yourself out bro’.

I neither stick up for, nor deride the present owner.
I’ve seen it all before, there’s absolutely nothing new in all this. The only thing that is different is that we have excellent access to constant whining via the web.

I’m sure EVERYONE in the world knows how much various people hate this, that or the other by now.

So all i do is remind folk that it’s the same all over the footballing world.

Fans hate owners, chairmen & managers.

Pack it(football) in if your that way inclined & you can’t bare it that much.
That would be the obvious route to take. I know i would if it upset me so bad.

    Just walk the phuck away!

  58. dave, how many times do we hear the immortal words”we’ll judge ashley at the end of the window?”,the last three year i know of.should this be the new “mantra” of the the club, shall we put it at the bottom of the badge, where newcastle utd is?,i’m sick of hearing the same old crap.

  59. Do u lads no wat it is I was praying that I won the euro porting last night so I could day 2 fat c**t here s £150m Fk off bk down south & give the club 2 the fans, but sorry didn’t win

  60. clint, you bang on mate, although we have our different points of view,in reality most fans hate their owners board etc.the point i was trying to make last night, until i was classed as a “rabble rouser” by a few posters,is what was mirrored in the media a couple of weeks back, about fans forums becoming too powerful, and places where you can rally people up.certain cases of death threats, and other sorts of threats have went on,over the last few years.what i was trying to get across, was football clubs, owners, players etc, must take a lot of notice of these blogs.the reason pardew did that radio interview, was because of the stick he was getting on the chronicle forum.it’s obvious ashley and llambias were also aware of the seeds of rebellion starting,so he came out with his own account,in an apparent attempt to quell the unrest.this unrest hasn’t really been big in the tabloids, but started on the internet,so it’s does make you wonder where all this is going.on the one hand it gives owners an insight into the fans frame of mind,on the other hand,it can be extremely volitile.

  61. another typo sorry, mispelt volatile lol.,as for calling toonsy’s blog a cult, dont take it too serious lads ffs.
toonsy was talking about “kaizan training programmes”,it just seemed a little like that cult, that let of the sarin gas,on the tokyo subway,in the 90’s.
it’s a bit of humour ffs,you have to pick it up the wrong way,f**k you lads are always slagging this board, can you not take a bit back.

  62. Just reading the chronicle article online and the the majority of the 60 or so responses are Anti Ashley and Co.
Which can only be positive for the future of the club.

Ashley Oot and Owl Heed Coot  and Partridge as well

  63. Ppl keep sayin that all the fans from every club hate their owners & boards, but u don’t hear chelsea, manu, city fans ranting like our fans & they all av billionaire owners just like us, even the unwashed down the road,, the big thing is they understand that they hav 2 invest 2 get sucsess, now I’m not saying we av 2 go mental & spend £m,s but we need 2 get sum more decent players, look wat happened last yr with injury,s,,

  64. Trojan,
    agreed mate.

They can get a whiff of what fans feel now, & no mistake.
    :)
As you know mate, i never have a go at people for their views, everyone is totally entitled as far as i’m concerned.
That’s what we’re here for after all.

While it will drag a few to follow the ‘wave of mutilation’, others will have opposing views & say so.
I just want the team to feel we’re still on their side & i think most are.
Sometimes our bark is worse than w’bite & we’re just ‘airing’ our view point.
I take it all with a bag of salt & try not to get drawn into personal attacks, cos after all we all love the Toon & want a winning team.
The close season is always a phuck load of time with nowt better to do than rant & rail for new players/managers or whatever.
It does get a bit boring on occasion but that’s all par for the course.
It’s always best if people say what they like without resorting to slagging each other off as we’re all supporters.
Good healthy debate kicks childish squabbling up the arse everytime.
It’ll all be over soon enough & we can get back to supporting the lads & arguing about formations & the last game. Viva that!
You always seem to be articulate man & are up for kicking it around, which is appreciated, believe me.
    :)
    ;)

  65. Trojan,
divn’t worry about toonsy’s blog mate.
Most of them lads are sweet, there’s always gonna be the odd one that takes issue, but that’s the same here, isn’t it?
If people can’t take a joke, well, enough said!
    :)

  66. clint,i was having a bit of a friendly dig at them, suffice to say, they didn’t take it too well.
i know most of them are okay, toonsy’s sound,i said that last night.it’s just seems some of them can dish it out,but they can’t take it.i know you never have a go at anyone for there views,it would be daft if all our opinions were the same,we’d end up like toonsy’s blog………………………………………………………………only kidding lol.

  67. :)

I reckon cos i write blogs, it’s best not to alienate people, though, i tend not to get into bad mouthing in me regular life too, life’s ower short mate.
Although governments & the like are fair game imv.
    :)

If you (one) give it out, you (one) should be able to take it too like.

Doesn’t always pan out that way though, hey?
    :)

  68. Geordie 55,
hey mate, manusa fans were having a right old moan about certain players after the barca game, gooners are well pissed off, the chavs were moaning about carlo.
manc fans, i’ll give you that, what do they have to moan about?
But all the rest whine like stuck pigs!
    :)

  69. CLiNT FLiCK says:

    Just walk the phuck away!”

Oooh touchy arent we ? I noticed the effing and blinding appearing in your posts yesterday and, unsurprisingly, you and those who choose to see contructive criticism as a fault, will always resort to the “if you dont like it get out of our club” routine.

Let me make this very clear CF. Criticism of a corrupt regime (no matter where or what it is) is not something we should shy away from. I happen to think that the criticism of Fatman and Lamearse is justifiable mainly because they have been identified as liars whose responses in evidence are “profoundly unsatisfactory”

So I’ll support this club for the long term and, as I said yesterday, there will come a time when Fatman leaves and we’ll all (hopefully) still be here afterwards to witness his departure!

Meanwhile I’d take a chill pill if I were you :)

  70. sirjasontoon, that’s where all the unrest came from, some chronicle subscribers are of the opinion that lee ryder and the chronicle, are in ashley’s pocket.although i dont like the ashley regime,i think it’s more a case of ryder and co,being given very little by the hertfordshire mafia, that they are forced to come up with drivel,on a daily basis.

  71. Andy,
you got any pills, are they any good?
    What’s on ’em?

    :)

Is that ‘incessant, constructive(?) criticism’ mate?
Cos that’s how it’s coming across man.
You gan reet aheed. That’s you’re prerogative.

Please don’t feel the need to stop or excuse y’self mate.

  72. Clint mate cheers ,but wat I ment was on transfers, IL admit every set ov fans round the world will always av sumik 2 moan about owners & board but we must av the biggest bunch ov bullsh*ters the world over, & I agree we all r nufc thru & thru but y must it b so hard

  73. Geordie55,

    no problem mate.
    I get ya’.
There’ll be football to watch soon enough mate.
But hey man, this is Newcastle United!
    It’s always been like this.
    :)

  74. I really don’t like that picture in the thread of owlheed.

It’s almost like he is looking down at me.

    Arrogant w@nker!

  75. Well HBA’s wearing No. 10 playing ping pong & he’s got No. 10 shorts in another picture, check it out.

  76. He is also wearing 37? Just looking now. Marveaux’s got 22, Cabaye 52 (bet he gets 7).

    Ameobi 23 phewww!

I’d give Tiote 4, Cabaye 8 (phuck Guthrie), and Marveaux 11 (soz Lover).

It’s just training though, I wouldn’t take notice.

toonsy was talking about “kaizan training programmes”,it just seemed a little like that cult, that let of the sarin gas,on the tokyo subway,in the 90′s.”

Trojan, He works for Toyota logistics, and Toyota are like a strange cult.

  78. Good cars though Trojan, especially if they’re made in Japan. I had one for over ten years and it never went wrong once apart from a clutch slave cylinder wearing out once because I forgot to replace it two or three times. My brother had a few, and my dad, and they were all the same.

  79. worky,
other clubs fans having a close season moan.
    Have you read it?
arse & everton, 2 birds, one stone.
    :)

  80. worky,is that when they all warm up together, exercise etc?,like what they do at nissan.

  81. Ashley’s mat has got 35 million under it.

Flash some cash Ash. (Say that fast and it sounds weirdly stupid.)

I suppose it could be Trojan, but it’s a little more complex than that.

  83. Worky – Used to. I’ve left Toyota now to work closer to home basically. Too much travelling man, it was getting on my nerves :)

    Trojan – ;)

  84. Trojan – Kaizen is an ongoing process of improvement, hence why I said it;s what Newcastle need. It actually does work in the real world and is an integral part of Toyota. It may not work everywhere but it does there and is responsible for saving million of pounds. It works from the bottom up so the guys who do the job come up with the improvements. That kind of thing. Not as intense as Six Sigma (which really is like a cult  ) but it’s pretty deep all the same. Nee meditation though :)

    OMMMMMMMM OOMMMMMMMMM

  85. Talking of six Sigma I recall, during my days as a consultant in the Automotive Industry, a time when (allegedly) a shipment of car seats was being transported the few miles to Nissan from Ikeda Hoover and the lorry overturned.

Cue massive amounts of production workers running to the overturned lorry – not to rescue the stricken driver – just to grab the seats and deliver them to Nissan within minutes :)

Funny how UK car manufacturing went down the toilet yet overseas based car manufacturers can thrive here ?

Yep. Seen that happen at Toyota. And when I was running the logistics at Kipling’s. To be fair we had that many lorries go over at Kipling we needed a full time clean up squad

The exact argument I had with someone last night. I swear it’s because these Japanese/German/Whatever companies enforce their philosophy as opposed to letting the slovenly UK worker have everything their own way.

Toonsy, I know that you’ll laugh, and scoff again, but I think that Hughton had some ‘Kaizen’ principles in terms of ‘nurturing’ human resources and as you say, working “from the bottom up so the guys who do the job come up with the improvements”. Pardew’s strictly a top down man.

  89. Probably because the UK has sold everything to the foreign market. What do we own anymore, the UK has no identity.

Not sure what i’m getting at there, but oh well.

    :-)

Andy, It’s also funny how the Yanks taught the Japanese the basis of ‘Kaizen’, and also how the British saved VW and other major German companies, both of whom would subsequently beat the crap out of both British and American manufacturing industries.

    Maggie Thatcha man!

  92. It’s one of the reasons, along with immigration, that I have no time for the UK anymore. You can’t even fly a British flag anywhere because you might upset someone.

    Joke.

I saw more British flags in Australia and Canada than I did in the UK. In them countries they are proud of who they are, and if you don’t like it, you f*** off!

Oh better keep this NUFC related…

    I hate Derek Llambiase!

    :-)

  93. It was really nice to hear that she couldn’t even make it to the unveiling of that divvy reagan statue the other day though.

Soon it’ll be ‘Ding dong the witch is dead…’

    :)

  94. jimbob,
isn’t that just a reaction to how proud the people of those countries are, therefore the foreigners(brits) get shamed into flying their own flags?

You get a lot more patriotic when you don’t have to live there, syndrome.

  95. Ashley must be a blackbelt in six sigma for sure – he’s certainly perfected the technique of lean manufacturing!

What the Toon really needs is a good 5 s audit, a couple of Kaizens then some RPS’s… piece of piss!

  96. Clint, I felt more patriotic while traveling y’know? But they are proud of their country mate, just how we should be. But we have been so poorly run that we are a laughing stock now. We are so PC and afraid to stand up for ourselves. I find it embarassing mate. All the Euros are proud too, Germans etc. Really hate the UK, aside from me mates, I can’t wait to get outta here again.

  97. Do you think I could walk down the streets of some certain countries an do my own thing? No I would have to abide by there rules. But over here we bend over to accomodate them don’t we?

  98. Clint, before I depress you further :-) If you wanna live in OZ, NZ, etc you gotta have a skill, you gotta work. Over here they let any useless twat in don’t they?

Right end of, otherwise I might do something insane and hang a flag from my window.

  99. Jimbob, don’t you think that it’s somewhat ironic that you’re moaning about immigration, yet you seem to spend most of your time travelling, and didn’t you say that you’re parents live overseas? ;-)

  100. jimbob,
i think we’ve gone way beyond patriotism over here mate.
We’ve been a major force, ran the world, invented everything, passed it on & are ruled by no one.

That kinda makes it the free-est place in the world.
we’re not even encumbered by patriotism.

As someone who lives in the capital of europe, people love this place & see it as freedom personified.
That’s something to be proud of, if one is so inclined.
    Not chowed meself like.

    We are the Geordies…

    :)
    ;)

  101. I’m a skilled worker though worky ;-) My point was about layabouts who have no intention of aiding the country, just want free hand outs etc. It has gotta stop. Australia want people like me, they have skilled shortages. I got offered sponsorship but it wasn’t right for me at the time.

France, yeah, you have a point on that one :-)

  102. Most ‘layabouts’ in this country are british mate. Built in from the thatcher era.

It’s all media BS to ‘engineer consent’, perpetrated by the ruling class who are propped up in government by the ‘lackies’ as we type.
    It’s always been that way.

We’re the original ‘mongrel race’, we’re all from somewhere else really. It’s what you get for using the world & having a class system.

    It’s our own fault mate.

  103. True Clint, I’m not saying our race are perfect. Totally agree with ya, it’s abit of both, there aint enough hours in the day to list the problems some of our people have.

Anyway I better go to sleep soon, gotta go get my benifits sorted tomorrow.

    :-)

    British Worky

  105. Worky, could you please state what you were implying with ahhh?

Clearly if you read the conversations between Clint and myself he states:

“Most ‘layabouts’ in this country are british mate. Built in from the thatcher era.”

I was merely agreeing, I used the word ‘race’ as in meaning British. Now it is debatable as to whether you would refer to it like that, but all I ment was Nationality.

“Worky, could you please state what you were implying with ahhh?”

I wasn’t implying anything Jimbob. It’s just that ‘British’ tends to imply nationality, not race. A ‘British’ person could be one of several different races. Hence, I didn’t understand what ‘race’ had to do with it.

  107. Yeah no worries, I didn’t mean nowt by it. I just meant ‘British’. I didn’t want you or anyone else misinterpreting what I meant.

  108. There are indeed lots of remedies for snoring out there, yet which one will actually
work for you. Other types of snore pillows are sculpted in such
a way that they prevent you from sleeping on your back and force you to sleep on your side.
There are a number of “boil and bite” snoring
mouthpieces available and they are moderately priced.
