Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur long match highlights and post match interviews.

Posted on October 16th, 2011 | 15 Comments |

Newcastle United 2 (Demba Ba 48, Shola Ameobi 86).
Tottenham Hotspur 2 (van der Vaart 40 (pen), Defoe 68).

Referee: Lee Probert.

Match highlights. Long highlights of what was probably the match of the season so far, even it is was a draw. A stiff test against strong opposition, with Tottenham striking first with a fair panalty won against Steven Taylor in the 40th minute, which Taylor held his handas up to after the game.

The Magpies struck back in excellent style with yet another good goal from Demba Ba. Then however, miniature hitman, Jermaine Defoe, came up from the bench to put the visitors on top 2-1 with a great strrike in the 68th minute. Newcastle struck back once again though when not so minuture hitman, Shola Ameobi, did exactly the same thing, ie come up from the bench for a wonderstrike, this one scored in the 86th minute to crown of an excellent, nailbiting second half with the hoonours even, and both teams putting in very good performances overall.

On the Newcastlke side, Cheik Tiote’s with his excellent midfield enforcement and Jonas Gutierrez’s seemingly endless running and very respectable end product seemed to be particularly worthhy of mention but most of the team had their moments, Ba’s goal was good of course, but Shola’s wonderstrike made for an excellent cameo appearence and the Fenham Eusebio provided the highlight of the game, from a Newcastle point of view anyway.

Post match interviews

Alan Pardew certainly seemed happy enough with a hard fought draw overall.

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp wasn’t quite happy with some aspects of his team’s performance, but they didn’t seem that bad to me.

Howay the lads!

  1. what ever you think of Ashley. we are 4th in the table and the look on the players faces when we scored, sold it for me…. they were great and realy ecstatic when we got our second goal… you can not buy that kind of comitment…… up the toon

  2. Who was that amazingly good player wearing shameobi’s shirt? Big, powerfull, great goal & left footed!
    Does he play very often?

  3. Just read an article about Pardew using a lot of stats etc…

I wonder if Marveaux will replace Obertan, or maybe now Pardew wants 2 strikers, so HBA will play on the wing… Maybe a 4-1-3-2? But then they’d be no place for Marveaux.

Interesting also that Santon replaced Simpson and stayed at right-back… So is Santon going to replace Simpson now? Kinda means we still need a left-back!

  4. Oh and Colo was immense today.

Think it was Adebayor in the 2nd half sprinting down the right side, and Colo kept up, slid in and won the ball, then did a trick on the line to play it forward safely.

Class… Need to sign him up now!

  5. Was bale playing in that game or did he just get shackled by the unfashionable & unfancied Simpson?

    :)

Pity we gifted them a couple of goals to keep ’em in it.

Let’s hope Saylor’s got it out of his system now.

  6. jimbob,
ta mate, didn’t get to see the game.
Good to hear that he flopped against both Simpson & Raylor.
    Even better!
    :)

    Did lennon play?

  7. Dont forget Krul with all this praise a great keeper for us. Shay who (let 4 in this weekend for villa)

Great team performance did us proud, wish we could of nicked it tho.

  8. I’ve given Shola plenty crtisism in the past but have to give credit where its due also…. what a cracking goal! Hope we don’t under-estimate Wigan,I think we are in for another difficult game but one we can win if we play to our max.

  9. yes, crackin’ finish by Shola on the day. Too bad Colo couldn’t have put that last one in, but it was a good point.
