Roberto Martinez: Difficult start to the season
Venue: St James’ Park, Newcastle
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 2011
Kick-off: 3:00pm
Referee: Neil Swarbrick.

Roberto Martinez brings his Wigan squad up to Tyneside this Saturday, as Newcastle United will look to continue their undefeated record in all competitions so far this season.

There is no live UK broadcast of the match, but due to the wonders of the internet, you may likely be able to find a link here

Wigan’s form so far this season has been dreadful. They started the season with a 1-1 draw at home to last seasons Championship winners, Norwich City, followed by another share of the spoils against the newly promoted Swansea City. Franco Di Santo helped Wigan record their first victory of the season in their third Premier League match against QPR at the DW Stadium, but after that victory, they went on to suffer four straight defeats. Their most recent encounter was versus another struggling side – Bolton Wanderers, but they suffered yet another defeat, losing 3-1 in front of their own supporter(s). Away from the DW Stadium, Wigan have played four, drew one and lost three. In that process they have scored one, and conceded eight.

Stats

Defensively, Newcastle United have so far this season made a total of 170 tackles, with a success rate of 73.53%. Wigan have made less tackles, with a total of 154, they however been more successful, with a 76.62% success rate. Though Wigan have won more tackles, they have also made more defensive errors with a total of 7 to Newcastle United’s 2. The defensive error statistics for both sides could well have been a lot higher, had ex-Magpie and ex-Latic, Titus Bramble, still been among the ranks of either side!

Interestingly, Wigan have made more accurate passes than the Magpies with 2771 to Newcastle’s 2460. Wigan have a ‘pass success’ percentage of 78.48%, whereas Newcastle United have a success rate of 72.91%.

Newcastle have so far created more chances than Wigan, with a chance being created on average every 9.54 minutes, compared to Wigan’s average of 11.19 minutes. The Magpies so far have scored 11 goals in the Premier League, 10 of which have been converted inside the box, from 81 shots on goal. This means Newcastle United score a goal on average every 69 minutes.

Meanwhile, Wigan have scored 6 goals so far, with 2 converting from inside the box. Their ‘minutes per goal’ average currently stands at 127 minutes, with this being accumulated from a total of 68 shots on goal.

Newcastle United Vs Wigan Athletic – History

Wigan haven’t tasted victory at St James’ Park in the Premier League since their promotion to the top flight in 2005. Newcastle United have won three and drawn two since the 2005 – 2006 season, with the most recent encounter ending up as a 2-2 draw.

Last seasons match consisted of Wigan racing two goals ahead, thanks to ex-magpie Charles N’Zogbia‘s brace, only to be pegged back courtesy of Shola Ameobi, and a last minute equaliser from Fabricio Coloccini. The previous St James’ Park encounter was another 2-2 draw during the 2008 – 2009 relegation season. That game saw Michael Owen open the scoring for the Magpies, and with Wigan eventually equalising, Obafemi Martins restored the lead for Newcastle a few minutes before the end of the ninety. As the match came to a close, Wigan won a corner deep into stoppage-time, and of all people, Titus Bramble equalised for the Latics. What’s the likelihood of more stoppage-time drama this Saturday afternoon?

Squads and injury news

On the Newcastle side, only Mike Williamson will definitely be out as he continues ro recover from his foot/ankle injury. However news is going around that Newcastle United’s Captain Fantastic, Fabricio Coloccini has a doubtful toe, keeping Tyneside in suspenders until the teamsheet comes.

Meanwhile, the ‘Latics’ of Wigan don’t seem to have any concerns at all on the injury front.

Probable formation

Newcastle United v Wigan probable formation.
It’s been difficult deciding what I think Pardew will line up with this Saturday. I think it’s very likely that Hatem Ben Arfa or Davide Santon may be included in the match day eleven, but it’s probably more likely that Pardew will keep faith with the same team that drew 2-2 with Tottenham last Sunday.

I think we’re likely to see the same kind of game plan that we’ve seen in most of our matches, this being to get the ball out wide early. Jonas has been in terrific form recently, and has looked a real threat down the left-hand channel. His opposite wingman Gabriel Obertan, has looked very poor when going forward, usually slowing the pace of the attack down by not having a clue what to do with the ball when he receives it. Obertan however did track back fairly well against Tottenham, and gave some better cover to Danny Simpson, than he did against previous opponents Wolves.

Wigan will likely line up with a five man midfield, and try and play proper football by keeping possession, and being patient with their build up play. Wigan’s game plan will be to try and stop Newcastle finding any rhythm in the midfield, and also to frustrate the crowd, as most of us will be expecting victory on Saturday, due to our fine form, coupled with Wigan’s dreadful past few results this season. The onus will very much be on Newcastle to break down their opponents on Saturday, though I hasten to add that Martinez will set his side out to play, and not just sit back and absorb Newcastle’s attacks.

Waffle

Saturday provides an excellent chance for Newcastle to extend their unbeaten record in the Premier League this season, and in Pardew’s words be “halfway to the magic 40”. Early prospects do point towards a home victory, but these are the type of games that can really frustrate. There are no easy games in the Premier League, and the players must go out on the pitch on Saturday, with the same mentality they had against Tottenham last Sunday. If Pardew can illustrate the importance of that, then hopefully the Magpies will prevail and have picked up the three points come Saturday afternoon.

  1. WHat is it with NUFC bloggers? It is always “this wing or that wing is shite”. Obertan has made Jonas seem better because Obertan’s area cannot be ignored as it could be when Joey Barton was at that post. Obertan stretches the field while Joey left spots that did not have to e defended.

  2. Just a thought but from what Pardew was saying regarding Simpson being really tired and having loads on his mind with his new baby not being well etc I think there’s a canny chance that Santon will get a start tomorrow.

If we’re going to blood the lad properly in the Prem and give him his 1st start then who better than Wigan at home to do it against?

I think Ben Arfa might well come in ahead of either Best or possibly Obertan tomorrow aswell.

Either way really looking forward to the match tomorrow!

“I think Ben Arfa might well come in ahead of either Best or possibly Obertan tomorrow aswell.”

GeordieDan, Not so sure about Ben Arfa replacing Obertan, as Pardew said he doesn’t see him as a winger at all, not even a left one whuch was the side he used to play mostly. He said he’d be using him as a “number 10” to use his words, so the first one is a possibilty.

I think he’ll probably just stick with more of the same while things are going so swimmingly though. Of course, I may be wrong though and you may be right!

  4. Worky>

To be honest mate I’d be happy to see the same team start again.

They’ve done us proud so far so why not?

I think your right about playing Benny on the wing. I doubt Pardew would play him there from what he said. If he did come on in place of Obertan I was thinking maybe a little bit of a re-shuffle to try something new against tamer opposition?

It would be great to have a dynamic team that could be successful playing a number of formations.

But maybe too much of a gamble we don’t need to take though yet eh?

  5. can i be honest lad?

    No!!!!! fain enough then.

i think we might either get the same team as spurs or Ameobi will get the nod instead of best.

although i would be quite happy to see a repeat of the spurs game. we got 1 point out of the spurs “test” and best and ba might not have had the best game of the season so far, but…….. we were playing a team who have been consistently in the top 6 for a few seasons now and were competing in the champions league two season ago.
with that team only improved on it doesn’t surprise me that certain players didn’t have their best game in a black and white shirt.

number one most important thing in this league is to beat the teams bellow you… Fact.

and try and get something out of the teams above…Fact.

we got a well earned point from one of the teams you could deem as ABOVE.

for me alarm bells aren’t ringing if we play wigan with the same team and we get beat, then maybe its time for a change.

but let wigan be another test how we play against teams bellow and around us.

you might find we run them raged it might even be another wolves but with out insomnia i don’t think they will offer too much of a threat that we cant counter act.

don’t get me wrong i’m not taking wigan for granted but i’m not going to take them too serious either we can and should take 3 points from wigan.

the team will know the that there is a hard few games to come. getting 3 points against wigan, stoke and everton is a near must so we can dampen the wounds possibly inflicted by the big 3 personally i would take 5 points out of the next 9 if we progress against blackburn in the cup.

but if we are going to call ourselves a big club we need to take 9 and stil beat blackburn in the cup.

i think it will be time for reflection after the everton home game. we can count our coffers and see what the trick or treat season has brought us and prepare for the mountain and see if we are still up to after then.

but reading different blogs pardew seems to suggest santon will get a start. and give danny a rest.

if that is the case don’t expect santon at left back, he is right footed plays either side. expect santon at right back being the only change. i cant seeing pardew putting raylor at right back when he is doing a good job on the the left.

it doesn’t make sense making too many changes against wigan.

we can test the team after tomorrow game and see how we perform. we might be surprised.

    hwtl.

“best and ba might not have had the best game of the season”

Best was ok and could have had a little bit more to work with and Ba was very good overall. Give ’em a break Stephen! ;-)

  7. This will be a real test of our mentality.

    jimbob,

    totally excellent work mate.
I’m loving these stat blogs mate.
    Keep it up(py)!
    ;)

  8. worky @ 6

i wasn’t having a go at them i was merely commenting on what people have said on this blog since the spurs game.

personally i think they need to gel and they are starting to. and i like best and ba they have a lot to prove.

i use the word “might” in my sentence in my opinion they are both doing fine.

but i cant say that for everyone.

when i give my opinion i tend to give an overall opinion based on what i read not just what i think.

to be honest i think one of the two is in for a hatrick tomorrow. and i get the feeling it might be bestie.

    4-0 4-1

thats the score worky not one of my formations.
but it could be deemed as both. lol

i think they might strugle to score and i dont think we will have trouble breaking down their defence.

i also fancy jonas to score. raylor, saylor and colo to get one between them and it might be a good game to get cabaye on the score sheet.

i think we will enjoy tomorrow.

Long live king Pardeux (as they say in france)

  9. Jimbob – a fair enough assesement – but when you say “Pardew will keep faith with the same team that drew 2-2 with Tottenham last Sunday” in fact means (if I recall correctly) the same team for the last five games.

Considering that team is unbeaten, this is the kind of stability we have been praying for for years! I’d love to see Marveaux & HBA start (in a 4-1-3-1-1) but let’s face it, if your job depended on it who would take the risk and change it?

I suppose a Fergie or a Cloughie might – but not Pardew, he’s not even a rotation inclinded manager let alone a risk taker. Maybe he will become one once he is established and we are successful – but let’s be honest, if he changes it and looses he will be crucified and the sign of growing confidence in him will disapear, possiby permantly.

  10. supermac,
he’s probably dying to change things around & give chances to other players, but i think his football coach superstition complex is stopping him meddling ’til such time as…

Hey, i could be wrong like, but i doubt it in this case.

  11. Good grief – just read that Liverpool will reportedly make an offer for the £12m rated defender Collo!

  12. Cheers Clint.

Supermac, you’re right mate, I’m sure it’s the same team for five games now. To be honest, I was so tired writing this last night, I should have maybe mentioned how long we’ve kept the same team.

We will see Marveaux on Tuesday I’d imagine. Perhaps either HBA or Santon will start tomorrow, but I doubt it’ll be both…

  13. Why doesn’t liverpoop just move to Newcastle & be done with it?

I seem to remember what dogleash did with his last Newcastle takeover.
    Oh dear!

  14. Mate, because Carroll and Enrique fcked off, every single Toon player who’s doing well will be linked with them.

  15. Clint if its his judgement then fair enough – but if its “coach superstition” then he’s not doing his job is he!
I have some sympathy (but only some) – no one actually deserves to be dropped, and he hasn’t lost a match – but I think that if you want a class team then you make room for class players – if you want a safe team you stick with safe players.
    I’d go for the glory!

    HWTL

  16. That & us admitting that ‘every player has their price’, quite normally.
The pressmongs only see Capt. Colo as a big money player, cos they still haven’t watched any games & are underestimating the est of our team.
    Lazy C***s!
    :)

  17. supermac,

i’m not necessarily agreeing with him, just observing what’s happening, imv.

Though, it must be hard to change a non-losing team.

  18. & Colo is just about starting contract negs too.
So liverpooh must want him for big money as they are implying that us & them are on the same or similar level, constantly.
They probably don’t realize that they’re doing that mind.
    Dumb C***s!

“Good grief – just read that Liverpool will reportedly make an offer for the £12m rated defender Collo!”

Supermac, I read a story about Liverpool preparing a £12 milion “swoop” for Coloccini and it looked like baseless poop, from a site which shall remain nameless which publishes virtually nothing else but baseless poop.

As a Liverpool fan might say:

Alright, alright, calm down, calm down.

Now I’ve written that, he’ll probably end up joining Liverpool, but the story I read was still shite as it goes ATM.

  20. Clint…you’re up late big man…

Seems Liverpool have money to burn….hope we can keep a hold of Collo to be honest…

  21. Didn’t the Colo story originate from Caught Offside…

That’s the same as Newcastle United-mad writing that Saurez is on his way to Newcastle…

It’s crap, and written by a Liverpool fan.

  22. MM,
i’ll be off soon mate, got a long drive tomorrow morning.

liverpoo are desperate to get back into the champs league & this is dogleash’s last chance saloon. If he phux this up he’s really shit, they’ve give him plenty of dosh to hang himself with & buy a team a seat back at the ‘top table’.
They’re shitting themselves, they are dropping into ‘also-ran’ status & it’s stinging.

  23. Clint, Liverpool disappeared off the radar when Benitez flocked off…they are trying to buy there way back into the big league, but I don’t think it’s gonna work for them…

I remember the days of Liverpool winning European Cups, and when they dominated English football and europe…and lots of there fans are probably still stuck in that mind-set, but I personally see Liverpool in the same class as Spurs, sniffing around 4 – 5 place but well of the pace of the big boys…..at least at the moment..

  24. I’m not being vindictive but I really don’t rate Kenny Daglish as a manager. As a player he was brilliant, but as a manager he’s doink in my opinion.

Any flocker can throw tens of millions of pounds around ffs…

  25. MM,

    i agree again mate.

He seems like he’s feeling the pressure already, bit like when he was here & celtic.
He had Shearer & loads of money at blackburn & just carried on a winning liverpoo team first time round.

    Aye,
with enough money something has to stick eventually.

  26. Aye I know mate.. The good thing about the toon at the mo is that we have a bunch of lads pulling together and giving it there best shot. Maybe we are punching above our weight but for a newly promoted team in the second season we’re doing okm, and it’s fun after the turbulence of the last few years. That’s why I get wound up when numpties start having a go at the team just cos they have an agenda and know flock all basically…plastic geordies…

  27. “£12 million liverpool bid”

this is just the first step in the head turning.

the press know exactly what they are doing.

turn the players head make him think, cause friction with parent club, advise his agent to let him tweet, piss of parent club, get sold.

the same happened to carrol, enrique. it seems to be dirty tricks by liverpool again. it would not surprise me if there is truth to the matter. this will be just to cause conflict before we start to negotiate a new colo contract.

  28. Stephen C…Collo has a daughter and son who were born and brought up in the toon…..we’ll see what that can bring…

I would imagine Jonas would be pretty peeved if Collo moved on.There again 12 mill is a lot for a 30 year old centre back – no matter how good he is…

  29. Going for 8-0 mesell like. Then a threesome with Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox. And Steve Bruce doesn’t get sacked, he is putting so much misery on the Mackems it is almost comical.

Maybe I am getting a bit carried away with the good start.

  30. GS…you double dipping on blogs ?…..just a tip…don’t brawl with the other side, unless you know the full story mate…

  31. munchen mag @37

apparently according to some rumors lately colo has more than one kid in the area.

as far am I’m aware the “I’ll let you shag my wife” chants has actually caused an increase in pregnancies in colos north east abode.

apparently dogleesh has had to offer his daughters as a replacement for what the Toon Army has already offered.
and the £12million is due to the lack of wives available in liverpool, aparently the term wife doesn’t exists in liverpool instead they use the term, single murm and skank, something colo is not familiar with.

aparently colo has gone on record say “he would rather not catch syphilis and gonorrheal from those pikey scum, wheel steelers, i mean why have couscil estate skank when you can take from the promised Geordie wife bank”

    his words not mine.

apparently he has only managed to work his way through 247 of the 19,876 wives promised to him thus far.

and i can confirm that not only has the Geordie nation offered colo “the key to our knickers” but the lord himself has offered to give him 6 virgins on the other side just for staying in newcastle.

  32. and dogleesh i can confirm has stated that “you wont find any virgins playing for his side.”

so it looks like we win.

  33. MM:

I won’t be “double dipping” anymore. It is a bit pathetic that the bus driver uses a supposed internet threat to his unborn child in an argument with me. Really out of order to use your family in a pathetic attempt to win an internet argument!

Whatever history there is between the two blogs, I don’t care. But I do get annoyed at hypocrites like the bus driver and his w*nky cronies like Batty.

Thanks for the advice, I will try to stick to it.

I am going to double down instead of double dip and say 16 nil to the Toon.

  34. not sure worky i don’t think i’m part of the double dipping generation.

and im not sure who the bus driver is either so maybe i’ve missed a few blogs. but i’m certainly not with the GS/MM rivalry.

i was going to say you’ve got more chance to be king GS than you have having a three some including Lindsay Lohan.

shes just gone back to nick for breaching parole as far as im aware.

    but 8-0 will do nicely

“not sure worky i don’t think i’m part of the double dipping generation.”

What was all that about Colo Stephen? Are half the bairns in the North East gannin’ to have curly perms in a few years?

Possibly my favourite ever South American player, Garrincha, possesed a member of very large proportions, made half of Brazil pregnant with it and lost his virginity with a goat.

  36. Worky:

If you want the whole story:

Your bus driver friend had a meltdown a few weeks ago and was reaching out for love from his cronies saying he might not do his blog anymore. Crying like a little girl.

We got into it a little bit and he then brings up an excuse that someone on the internet had threatened his unborn child and that the internet s*cks and life is not worth living anymore, except he said it in his p*ssy way.

It is over now. I have learned something though. If you talk to bell-ends on the internet you end up looking like a bell-end yourself.

  37. Garrincha played for the “other side” apparently …ok if you’re that way inclined and into goats like. Not my idea of a canny Friday night out.

  38. see wot i can’t get is were unbeaten and people are still pullin the team apart saying marveaux for obertan an santon simo or raylor or even HBA for best, do me a favour and get owa ya sells and enjoy the momment while it lasts because there will come a time when our beloved toon don’t perform and then we will have cause to pull it apart but untill then if aint broke don’t fix it.

  39. Stephen C.

There isn’t any rivalry between me and Munich Mag.

He was very nicely pointing out that I am an idiot for getting into a fight about nothing on another NUFC blog. And he is right.

  40. GS…howay man…give ower. Rivalry between us no way.

Don’t get involved in bother on the other side til you know the full story is my line. But you’re a grown lad, so you will know the story one day like.

  41. I am sticking with my 8-0 forecast. I think Chelsea beat Wigan 7-0 a few years ago and we are better than Morihno’s Chelsea.

Worky, what are you doing with the format of the site?

  42. i c GS well i wasn’t aware of any fight and wasn’t aware you had to swear allegiance to the blog either.

i’ve only been blogging since i got my android phone and downloaded the app. this blog comes as standard so its pretty much the main one i write on.

    and yes
flying saucers and curly hair all round.

and who is the bus driver?

  43. MM:

don’t take what I said the wrong way. I am calling myself an idiot and saying I was stupid to get into an argument on the other site with people that are professional wind-up merchants.

    “Worky:

    Ahh

I’ve been running websites for a long time and I’ve had all sorts, including some very imaginative threats. People get carried away and nearly all the threats are just ridiculous. That certain blogmaster once threatened to come round to my place and beat me up once. I just laughed.

It’s all just a fantasy world.

  45. MM and Worky:

you know what it is like, sometimes you can’t help yourself and bite and the conversation takes on a life of its own.

And Stephen C. I do have dates set up with Lindsay and Megan already. And a goat as well to add some spice.

Maybe not Lindsay and Megan but the goat said she would call me back, so I’m still hopeful there.

  46. GS, the funniest insults I ever had through running a website was from my Bad Album Covers site. Queen fans are a funny lot, and when I put two of their worst album covers in there. One furious Queen fan sent me a long e,mail which involved some bizarre stuff which I won’t go into here, but he then called me a “homophobic faggot”

I’m not sure if that’s “oxymoronic” or whatever, but it’s got to be about the most stupid nonsensical insult I’ve ever seen!

  47. You also stole from your bloggers when they offered donations in good faith worky you f*cking cretin.

Don’t know why you are starting sh*t again because of this retard GS.

Delete my comment, block me, do whatever. When I have visited the site in the past, I have enjoyed and appreciated the craic regarding the club from yourself, Clint and Hugh but this rivalry and digging makes you look absolutely pathetic.

You are a fully grown man, stop acting like a child on the playground.

  48. Best insult I ever got was from Batty yesterday. I had said my two year old makes more sense than him, and he came back and said he was surprised I had a two year old because I couldn’t get it up.

I had to slap myself because I thought I had heard the reincarnation of Oscar Wilde.

  49. Moreno, I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I don’t know you, and you’re living in some kind of fantasy world, or have been misinformed. You seem to be obsessed with this site, but my only interest in your site is in the stupid and childish “sockpuppet” attacks on this site from contributors and members of your copycat site.

I’d appreciate it if you’d keep this childishness where it belongs, on your own site as it has nothing to do with this one, where we prefer to be more civil and adult.

    Thankyou.

  50. Moreno:

Read that blog now and again and see the nonsense that is said. And Batty was on a wind up and I bit.

And if you say that the bus driver is not a condescending, self-important fool sometimes then you are the retard. and my dad can beat your dad in a fight.

  51. I seem to be obsessed with this site?

You really are mental aren’t you? I wasn’t aware you guys were still running until I unfortunately bumped into GS and he mentioned this place was still operative!

I thought you had ran out of steam and clint was writing an article once every 3 days last time I checked.

Interested to see GS’s reaction to being banned due to his constant ‘this is my last post’ and then abuse 10 minutes later hence the reason I peeked over the fence so to speak. No place for that on our site my man.

As for the ‘he said, I said’ craic that I noticed you posting there to your new bumchum, that belongs on the playground. We (admin and writers) don’t mention you on .co.uk and have no reason too, so try to keep .co.uk and the webmaster out of your conversations….if you can possible manage that? (I know it’s tough)

And of course you don’t know me, it’s the internet and it’s all a fantasy world. A fantasy world where you can live out your dream of being someone who has an opinion people actually give a sh*t about.

  52. Moreno:

I got banned? Nobody told me. I just decided to abide by what I said and not visit the site anymore.

Good “banter”, though. I miss the bus driver’s site already.

And “bumchum” – Matron! give over.

  53. Moreno:

And if you think I am being a bit condescending to the bus driver then you are right. Good job that, one I would have aspired to when I was 6.

  54. Worky, I will leave it now, I am boring myself now with this stuff.

Still looking forward to the Wigan game and Bolton 1, Sunderland 0.

And Man City against Man U.

“Still looking forward to the Wigan game and Bolton 1, Sunderland 0.”

GS, “Agent Bruce” is doing a good job, too good in fact. He’ll get sacked if he isn’t careful. :-)

  56. Give it a rest Moreno. The odd comment about .co.uk occurs on here and I’m sure comments about .org occur on .co.uk.

Never the twain shall meet is the best advice in that respect.

You stick to your stuff, we’ll stick to ours and there’s no need for bad words. Last time I spoke to Toonsy he seemed fine with that idea too.

  57. The script was written when Quinn was reassigned.

I find it funny he has so many nicknames now, Agent Bruce, Football 365 call him Bernard Cribbins, others call him Bagpuss.

Any thing that makes fun of the unwashed makes me laugh.

  58. Although, I think saying that ALL conversations turn to accusing people of being Nazis is a bit extreme. Or we’d have:

    Worky: Morning Hugh.
    Hugh: Morning Nazi.
    Worky: Polishing your jackboots?

And so on and so forth, which would soon limit conversational topics to piano wire and such.

“A bit like that one that says all conversations eventually turn to accusing people of being Nazis.”

Hugh, the accusations I’ve been getting recently have been more in the anal department than the extreme right wing one.

Did you get my e.mail about tomorrow BTW?

“Will look. Did you get my email of about 30 mins ago?”

Aye I did Hugh. I’m just writing that thing I mentioned earlier and I’ll read it properly tomorrow once I get a couple of hours sleep!

  61. F3ckin’ nutters. it’s 4:30AM.

HTWL. We really need these 3 points because the next month is gonna be so tough. We just need to take it too them from the off and never let up.

  62. Avatar workyticket says: “Hugh, I’ve been listening to quite a bit of John Foxx and proper Ultravox today thanks to you.”

Aye me too, which is why I sledgedhammered it into my article. I have been reorganising my music (propmted when I dropped my Walkman and it smashed into pieces) and whenever I do that I end up listening to bands I haven’t heard for ages. Latest has been a wide range from The Tubes to Telvision to The Buzzcocks and even Brinsley Schwatz, who I’m not sure I even like.

“I have been reorganising my music”

Hugh, as you know, I had to sell a big chunk of mine recently. Autographed stuff from my days in the music world and all sorts of rarities. It still a bit of a sore point!

I’m trying to write a ‘blog Tripp, but Hugh keeps disturbing me! :-)

“Aye, I remember some of it got decent prices. Did you keep any back that you couldn’t let go of?”

    Aye, not much though Hugh.

  66. I regretted letting about 200 (vinyl) albums go for £80 to a second hand shop when we were packing up to move down here.

I kept about 30 singles I’ve still got in the attic. I must get them down to see what’s there. I know there’s an original God Save The Queen with the safety pin and the 6-pack by the Pistols, although I don’t know if that’s ‘rare’ these days.

My wife has one or two albums up there too. Stuff by ‘Child’ I’m ashamed to admit. Pretty rare though – can’t get it on digital anywhere.

  67. Hugh/Worky – What is your most expensive vinyl? And do you know of anywhere you can get rough values of them?

I have a limited edition Depeche Mode “Just can’t get enough” picture pressed in a limited edition sleeve (1 of 500 with certificate) and just wondered if anyone knew how much it might be worth?

    I can’t think now Toonsy.

Looking up finished EBay listings can be a good place to start and there are other places on the ‘web too which I can’t remember the links for now as I’ve lost my old bookmarks for the moment. I’ll look ’em up for you when this match business is over.

  69. so that completes 90 rounds of banter, threats and stornch rivalry.
i would hate people to find out i read both .co.uk and org blogs.
but i’m pleased you’ve all gone to sleep and i can get away with my cross eyed approach at blog reading

    zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

  70. Bloody heck – I’ve just caught up with that overnight banter! talk about the dark side – are you lot blog vampires or sumit, I hope you all return to normal (well as close to it as possible) when the sun comes up!
There’s a match today by the way.

  71. Terrific overcom! I have to beginner even as anyone change your site, how can i sign up to for a website web page? A accounts helped me to a new tolerable option. For a nice and tiny bit acquainted with this a person’s transmitted supplied brilliant very clear thought
