Guess it does’nt take much to inspire some fans
    (see above)
Not exactly the feeling i came away with following a long awaited final whistle.
Hey give a bit of credit, to a not that great a Villa side, they gave their all.
Sure it’s nice to get the three points, but every cloud has a silver lining so they say, and had we lost to-day, it might have put the final nail in AP’s coffin.
Whereas this may give him a reprieve, but sooner or later, most of the fans not to mention pundits obvious criticism, will hopefully register with a stubborn Ashley.
If it does’nt, could be the biggest mistake he ever made.

That 2nd half was horrible! and yes there are some questions about team selection and substitutes which appeared bizarre but forget tactics, that 2nd half was more about self-preservation! Two teams both struggling before the match, we were better rested (Villa played twice last week!), our new signings give us a lift in the 1st half and our players returning from injury!! we have a spring in our step not seen this season and go 2-0 up and Villa continue their recent trend of poor performances until half time!! Half time they regroup and come out with a nothing to lose attitude and throw the kitchen sink at us, whilst we being also desperate for the 3 points to ease our pressure, shite ourselves and panic for 45 mins and do almost anything but play as a team in order to hang on! and yes our new players wouldn’t know what had hit them! Yes Villa are normally shite but their pride and survival was at stake, so it appears any game plans went out the window! Some will argue its still no excuse I know, but hey it’s 3 much needed points and yes Chelsea we relish playing against us if we are as negative on Saturday!

Hope we can get some full match highlights because I only saw the 2nd half and that was just more of what we’ve played like most of the season.. Would be nice to see the 1st half where we are meant to have played well.

Wonder how ineffective Jonas needs to get before he’s benched or subbed off in a game…

Well, aye, we did look better in the first half, but the truth is that Villa with their 3-5-2 were so awful in the first that a Benwell under 11s side would have looked ok out there. Dowie and Shearer tried the same thing with our lot once if you recall? They were a different team in the second though.

Apart from the three points (obviously) perhaps the biggest highlight to hold on to was that Sissoko just about scraped a Toon “Man of the Match” performance in his first game, which is nice.

One thing we can be thankful about is that Southampton have Man U tomorrow evening rather than someone like Reading or Villa because if they win they would overtake us and we’d be back in 16th again.

cabayes goal was great. i really hope we get a striker in a.s.a.p! i just wish we could hold the ball better in midfield to take the pressure of our defence! 3 points is good and i’m happy. chelsea saturday, 1 3 2 4 1 for me. cisse, marv, caba, gouf, anit, siss, san, mwib, colo, debu, krul,

  15. 15

    that’s a good win!

    avatar YankToonFan says:

I will take the points, but we were a couple of brilliant saves by Krul away from THE SAME DAMN RESULT as vs. Reading.

It was an appalling second half performance and Pardew hasn’t got anything sorted out.

Didn’t see the first half but caught the second when we were struggling, this we know… However, we came away with the all-important three points and this can only help to quickly bond the new lads and the squad together. We were under the cosh during the second half from Villa but we held on. It will be a good morale booster in more ways than one. HWTL

Not really ARMY, just a bit more realistic than those who feel that however we perform, we should always get behind either the team , manager and owner.

Having watched the Pardew video, i cant decide if this guy’s crazy, believing his own bull, or a better con man than generally given credit for.
Certainly looked like the cat who eat the canary.

“We were superb in the first half”
No Al! we were the better side, we dont play superb football, though we might one day.

We played as well as we have all year.
Possibly, but with a record of six wins in twenty four games and this our first away win all season, is that something to be proud of ?

    “We played Brilliant last year”
Perhaps you are confusing us with Barcelona or some other top side Al, we neither play Superb or Brilliant.
But there’s hope for us once you go.

The second half was skimmed over.
    “Villa are a great team”
No Al, they are one of the worst sides in the PL.

For myself, the game i saw in the second half was a Villa that came out to play a physical game, which resulted in one of the scrappiest halfs of football i have watched in a long time.
But give them credit the pinned us in our own half for most of the time and were unlucky to not tie the game, though i believe the Penalty was a bad call.

We in turn looked no different, even with our new recruits, reverting to a ten man defense (including three center forwarda, go figure) playing the usual hoofball, unbelievable!

The point is, there will be certain people who will accept Pardews version of what happened, even some who had witnessed the game.
    Whadayagonna do?
