Newcastle United v Liverpool.
Hope it isn’t like last time.
Venue: St James’ Patk, Newcastle.
Date: Sat 19th Oct, 2013.
Kick off: 12.45pm.
Referee: Andre Marriner.
UK TV: BT Sport.

Hello, good morning / afternnon and welcome to our ‘match banter’ feature for today’s televised (BT Sport) game against Liverpool.

Firstly, apologies to regular readers for the lack of our usual in depth metch preview this time, it’s just been been one of those weeks! This piece won’t be an epic either, I’ll just get on with updating the teams below when they are up, and let you know that though this game is being broadcast on BT Sport in the UK, I will still be posting some links to watch the game online in the comments section too, as well as posting highlights and a video of the whole game when it’s all over.

Here’s hoping we do a little better than last time we played Liverpool at St James’ Park, which of course was a 0-6 trouncing and a defensive horror show.

Finally, with the “Time 4 Change” march through Newcastle before the kick off, it would be great if you could vote in our new poll “Do you support the march against Mike Ashley?” (below).

Howay the lads!

  1. If we can just pass to the monkey all day long we should
    be ok.
Notice my little NASA reference there

  2. Have to agree with Joe in the previous thread, just can’t see us beating them today. Pardew has said that he thinks offence will be our best option which may well be true. Trouble is that it will leave us wide open at the back and the possibility of another drubbing if our lads can’t score. Mignolete is on top form at present so goals will be difficult.

Still if the lads can get it right the next meeting of the Alan Pardew appreciation society meeting could be in a local Seaside shelter with as many as 4 seats in it.

    Ardua per astra, like!

I hate to sound like Mr Apathy but I don’t see the point of the march, I reckon Ashley is well aware of what many supporters think about him. Love him or hate him it is not going to make him change in anyway. NUFC is his toy and he will play with as he sees fit. Also I do think despite all the negative vibes he would like to see the team being successful, you do not see him jumping with joy at games when we lose, rather the opposite.

  3. I’ve always used VLC but never got that Ace thing to bloody work. Just downloaded from the Ace site again and it still never pre-buffers, always stuck at 0%.

  4. SJT, have you got it yet?

If you’re having problems I’ll let you know what else to try but you do have to wait a bit for it to come on sometimes.

  5. Still in China. The nets awful where I am but just checked .com, they say it’s on Guandong Sports over here so just flicking through the 200+ channels of shite to find it!

  6. That’s alright then, Jimbob.

I had problems with that VLC player but it seems to be fine now.

Hope your having a great time over there.

SJT, are you getting the game yet?

“Bloodzeed was a brilliant link back on Sopcast when he did it there.”

Jimbob, I’m watching it on the VLC player and it’s even better now if anything. It’s absurdly good.

    “Shocking defending.”

Are you impersonating Alan Hansen now?

It must be said, fair’s fair, we were doing well considering until that.

  9. Was that Tiote trotting back that played him on? Or is this all on MYM?

Either way, as jason said: game over. Will be lucky if it’s not another rout now.

  10. I really think it may be Tiote’s, worky. He had been sitting on the floor behind the play and was trotting back to his position when the pass was made. I think he may have played Suarez onside.

  11. I shudder to think what the second half will look like with AP having advised 10 men to try and cling to a draw…

  12. @ 42: agreed, there was enough contact to put him off…not enough for him to drop like he was shot.

  13. Suarez definitely hammed it up – he wasn’t actually pulled over – but Yanga should know better than to put his hands anywhere near Suarez’s shoulder in the penalty box.

“I really think it may be Tiote’s, worky.”

I didn’t see it well enough before and I’ve just seen the replay. You have a point but it doesn’t get Mbiwa off the hook.

  15. Have to agree Suarez hit the deck as soon as contact was made, which has sadly become part of the game.
Shame really, as Newcastle deserved their lead, having clearly outplayed Liverpool, who looked a bit sluggish, clearly not the possession and passing side Rodgers would like to see.
Though our defending was awful especially as far as set pieces were concerned.
I don’t (well I do)know who placed Remy outside, when it’s obvious he is needed in the box.

  16. Full credit to the Toon. We showed great spirit and determination. I think the Frenchies are getting used to life on the Tyne and Premier league football. A very good result! HWTL!!

  17. Hello worky and all, Ive not been on for ages but had to come back today as i am a williamson hater! hasnt he done well last couple of games I hope he keeps shoving my words back down my throat every weekend. Debuchy finally came of age today. The sooner s(fkn)uarez is out of english football the better.
