Newcastle United v Everton.
A stiff test for Carver this evening.
Date: Tues 25th March 2014.
Time: 7:45pm.
Venue: St James’ Park.
Referee: Lee Mason.
UK TV: None.

Hello, good evening and welcome to our match banter for this evening’s game aginst Everton.

Once again, miscreant manager Alan Pardew will be restrained in his Benton office, leaving assistant John Carver to handle things in the dugout once again. This time though, it will be against a tricky Toffees side who have won their last three Premier League games.

Recent form.

You can see the recent form of the two teams below for their last six Premier League games (most recent first).

Team Results Points
Newcastle United W|L|W|W|L|L 9/18
Everton W|W|L|L|W|L 9/18

As you can see, in terms of recent form in the Premier League this evening’s two protagonists coudn’t e any closer with three wins, three losses and 9 points out of 18. Could it be a tight contest this evening?

What the managers have been saying…

Alan Pardew: “Teams normally hit 40 points and switch off but we haven’t done that,” he said. “We want to do our best for the best fans in the country.”

Roberto Martinez: Speaking on Pardew’s stadium ban, the little Spaniard had the following to say, “It must be difficult. I cannot even think how you can cope with that frustration of not being able to help the team and trying to read the game from the sideline,”

On the team news front, I will post the team sheets on here around an hour before the kick off, along with a few links for the game as usual. That only leaves it for me to say

Howay the Lads!

  2. Oh ! really 4-4-2, quelle surprise !
And no change from last Saturday, makes you wonder what goes on in these guys heads?

  3. It’s so obvious Newcastle are reluctant to compete for a Shit European league spot, that it was the first words out of the commentators mouth.

  4. That’s why I have ranted about why they send Williamson forward for set pieces rather than keep his slow ass back in defense as he hasn’t come close to scoring with his head since he’s been here.
Don’t the coaches realize that by now FFS.

  5. Worky yeah, with BSA, Pulis and Pardew it is and always will be, as they don’t know anything else.

  6. That was entertaining. Is Barkley the next big thing? England might not be quite as shite at the world cup with him and Lallana as options to Stevie G?

  7. Point of interest Iron Mike Williamson, last goal was scored while playing for Watford in 2009, almost five years ago, in which case why is he a fixture in the opposition box during set pieces ?
I would think that question should be posed to both Pardew and Workey, one being responsible, the other
having blind faith that it will happen some day.

Oop’s another one for Lukaku, and give you a guess who was covering him ?

  8. That defeat was in the post to be honest.
The way we have played in the last few games gave an indicator of how we would fair when stepped up in class.
Everton were just too good for us all over the park where it counted.
Although we had our fair share of the ball, We just didn’t do anything with it.
We continually put crosses into the box that go the the keeper, Or are just easily headed away by the defence.
Our football is static and we spend our time playing in front of the opposition.

  9. Good game to watch with Newcastle playing well at times and Everton playing a counter attacking game, with each of their goals coming on the counter.

Sissoko, Gouffran, Ben Arfa, Tiote, and Colo all playing well.

Can anyone explain why Ben Arfa and Marveaux have been sitting on the bench ?

Anita, though not a bad player, just can’t fill Cabaye’s shoes, leaving the side without a playmaker, plus Dummett is not the answer when it comes to set pieces.

We also missed both regular FB’s who normally carry the ball up, leaving both Sissiko and Gouffran exhausted with all the running they had to do.

Again, Williamson, played a major role in two or possibly all three goals and was left standing on as both Lukaku and Deluefeo went by him as if he were rooted to the pitch.

Yanga M’Biwa has not had a decent game, for a while now plus I would prefer to see Haidarra in he LB role.

Again not a lot of support for Cisse and though an improvement on his prior starts, DeJong has to show more if he wants to stay.

There is a lot of promise in the side, but far from a top four or even six, the only answer being in Ashleys hands during the upcoming window, where there has been talk of a big turnover, where hopefully we hang onto both HBA and Marveaux.

But when one looks at the goals against numbers, it certainly reflects we need help in central defense badly, having only an ageing Colo. worth his wages.

  10. That happens whenever we chase a game. Our defense looked slow and terrible tonight, it wasn’t just Williamson it was all of them.

It is difficult to gauge how good Everton are because we have capitulated to Sunderland and Spurs as well. I think they are a decent team but they might suffer next year when they have to send their loanees back.

  11. Forget about the defence, we had a dysfunctional attack with no pace or creativity until Ben Arfa came on when it was too late. Cisse was getting no help and De Jong was shit again. Carver and Pardew are just cowards who thought they were playing it safe and hoping for a 0-0.

“I think they are a decent team but they might suffer next year when they have to send their loanees back.”

They only have a few, GS, and they’re only from little clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Monaco.

  13. Worky, The most frustrating thing about it is possession wise we were well in that game.
The continuing problem is the clueless nature of the management.
We start a game with an attacking force with about 3 goals between them, And it showed.
Much better work rate from Cisse over the last couple of games, But we need goals.

De Jong is another short sighted attempt at appeasement to the fans in the wake of the Cabaye sale.
Another player who comes in with an angle attached to him, Which mostly happens with an Ashley Deal.
Another waif and stray who nobody wants who is living on past reputation.
It seems to be the mantra that runs through the whole club, And from the owner down to the manager, Coaching staff and players, They are a bunch of laurel resting merchants!
They try to trade on little tit bits of glory and blag and bluff their way through the rest with propaganda and spin!

  14. Acoording to Transfermarkt, Everton have around £47 million’s worth of players on loan. That’s almost a third the estimated value of their whole squad.

  15. Wilf Bony could be available again at the end of the season.

Even though he’s scored 21 goals so far and was described as “unplayable” after scoring against Arsenal yesterday evening, Swansea’s record in their 10 games under Garry Monk is P10, W1, D4, L5 despite ‘Daddy Kool’ scoring for them in most games.

“We start a game with an attacking force with about 3 goals between them, And it showed.
“Much better work rate from Cisse over the last couple of games, But we need goals.”

Cisse and De Jong haven’t scored many goals yet I saw it as a problem of creativity, in making chances. Instead of having Ben Arfa playing in a creative role behind Cisse, or at his side for most of the game we had another striker who can’t even score and Sissoko and Gouffran playing out of position again.

  17. Worky, There is a lack of creativity but there are plenty balls going into the box without anyone attacking them.
I think at one stage we had 14 shots at goal albeit probably long range efforts and half chances.

Ben Arfa should have at least came on for the full second half, But as usual it was too late and game over by the time they got around to the switch.
I would put Sissoko in centre midfield and try someone else wide.
Gouffran should be now tried as a through the middle striker, Because he has played there before.
De Jong and Cisse look like they will never score and even when we do get the ball to them, They go on to fluff the chance.
Marveux should be given more game time playing on the wing because he is another who can make things happen, If they would just give him a run.
Haidaras looks the best option at fullback than Kirk from Corra atm.

  18. Not many sides can handle HBA, when given a free roaming role, he’s our only creative forward, who when not providing the perfect passes, can score himself, a game changer.

Sure he looks a bit overweight and has done for some time
(why is that coaches) but players need game time to keep in shape.

There was some good interaction, between Gouffran, Sissoko, HBA and Cisse.

DeJong had his moments and considering he’s in a new league , with a new side, I would be willing to give the guy a chance, before outright condemning him at so early a stage.

Though without Remy we looked toothless.

And with both Debuchy and Santon missing, we lacked their attacking contributions and in turn put a tremendous load on Gouffran and Sissoko, who ran their asses off, dropping back to cover and having to carry the ball forward.

I’ve just about had it with Williamson, the guy is forever out of position, slow as molasses and has no clue what to do with the ball when in possession, settling for a hoof out of play or simply anywhere upfield and if you watch him, you see no one gives him the ball when bringing it forward, I wonder why ?

And not having scored a goal (unless you count own goals) since his time at Watford almost five years ago, why is he pushed forward into the oppositions box, where he still was, when the first goal was scored, FFS leave him back where he belongs.

He was also responsible for the second and third goals.

Yet their are actually some who believe he does a great job, he should be back in the lower league’s, where he belongs.

But that’s anther story, and Joe Hawkins is right, it’s all about the coaching or lack of it.

We need help as far as replacing Cabaye is concerned, Anita not a bad little player, who also has his moments
but simply is no where near being Cabaye’s replacement.

Perhaps it’s time to give Bigirimana a shot, what the hell, we are relatively safe, lets give some players an opportunity to show their stuff, what’s the difference, we are obviously disinterested in the shit European tournament anyway.

Taylor who is not a favorite with many, is sitting on he bench, the guys way better than Williamson, Yanga M’Biwa is constantly played out of position and hasn’t had a good game for a while.

Dummett appears to be flavor of the month at RB, but Hiadarra as by far the better player IMO.

And I see we have improved (my ass) our set piece deliveries, if we have to designate some johnny come lately,(Dummett) to take care of that role, we are obviously in trouble.

A decent striker, and a couple of good Central Defenders are badly needed plus I would like to add Grenier and Cabella, to play on either wing as we will have Gouffran and DeJong to play that secondary role.

It’s apparent Sissoko is not a forward, in which case, leave him in the midfield where we can use his pace and defensive skills, not to mention his long attacking runs forward.

  19. Joe Hawkins

Yo Joe! just read your piece, looks like great minds think alike !
    That should rile some.

  20. @ 16: I’m convinced we’ll owe more if Haidara gets more appearances. I predict he won’t step on the pitch again this season. I really don’t see that promise in the side. There probably isn’t one player in the squad that I’m confident will be better next season except maybe Yanga-M’biwa. Then there are the aging, the long-term injuries, the want-aways and the loan players. In midfield we’re well stocked for now but everywhere else…there are a whole lot more questions than answers. Even if Ashley sanctions buying half a squad (yeah right) of quality players (yeah right) I can’t see us avoiding the relegation fight next season without a big dose of luck.

@ 17: with Willo & Colo at CB and shorn of Debuchy & Santon it’s just an objective fact that our D is slow. And yes, EFC rely on Deulofeu and especially Lukaku. Here’s the thing though-I bet when they leave they’re replaced by players of similar quality.

@ 18: so attack was dire again-and for how many matches now?

  21. WORKY

Hey! not only will Bony be available, but his ex Manager, The Prince of Denmark also.

Rumor’s of him replacing Big Sam.

Getting Big Sam back would be an improvement on Pardew and his cronies, at least our set pieces would work.

But I hear we are working on that (it’s been a prime consideration for about a year or more) his name is Dummett.

  22. @ 23: I really don’t get the penchant for playing guys out of position. I remember when he was talking about where to play Sissoko. Apparently he missed everyone in the media comparing him to Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure as opposed to Cristiano Ronaldo or Andrea Pirlo.

  23. On the subject of Delofeu, he’s a Hollywood player like Benny, ie dazzling on the ball, creative, good at passing, beautiful to watch but doesn’t make a huge defensive contribution. So why oh why don’t Everton just leave him on the bench, say disrespectful things him in the media to turn the fans against him and only bring him on an impact sub for the last few minutes of games once they’re in the sh*t?

  24. Bobby didn’t buy Sylvain Distin but look at him now – In his thirties and still regularly in the heart of defence for one of the better Premier League teams. He now has well over 500 first team appearences in Ligue 1 and the Premier League behind him and he still plays around 40 games a season for Everton.

  25. Worky@30: that’s because Everton don’t have a master tactician at the helm and are only interested in the tedious business of winning football matches. Where’s the challenge in playing a talented number 10 in a way that allows him to excel when you have the chance to mould him into poor defender?

  27. Worky

Yes I have always rated Distant, who has had a great career in the PL, and with along with Ollie Bernard formed an excellent left defensive duo, while playing for Newcastle.

And yeah I get it at 30#

    tunyc
Whether Sissoko could be another Viera remains to be seen, the guy has pace, is a decent midfield defensive player and IMO is wasted as a winger.

IMO he could form a great relationship with a midfield playmaker, as he can both defend and join in, in an attacking role.

Though he will never be a Ya Ya Toure, but then, who will?

His forward runs and resilience are obvious , as is his
    unquestionable desire.

Yes we actually do have the basis of a very good team, which needs a decent striker and at least two or three
central defenders, being both Colo. and Taylor may be heading elsewhere and one only has to look at our goals against average to figure out why.

Would it be a good idea, to have only Yanga M’Biwa and Williamson as our central defense, that would be going from the sublime to the ridicules.

I just don’t have very much confidence in both
Ashley’s understanding of what’s needed and Pardews ability to deal with the situation.

Possibly better to get rid of a certain number of non productive players and also ascertain the reasons why.

When there are numerous young managers, who could undoubtedly do a much better job than those we presently have.

    “Worky

“Yes I have always rated Distant,”

LOL Chuck, you’re as bad as Bobby Robson. He used to call Sylvain Distin ‘Sacha Distel’ after the famous French crooner.

  29. I like the way Sacha just picks up that lass and plonks her down on that platform.
Could you imagine if Germaine Greer seen that, She would have a field day!
Not from the age of “Women’s Lib” me thinks lol

I’m all for “Women’s Lib” me, By all means “Burn The Bra”, But be prepared to have breasts down to your knees, Fair enough!

  30. “I’m all for “Women’s Lib” me, By all means “Burn The Bra”,”

Good to see that you’ve caught up with all the latest developments in feminism, Joe.

“That lass” is Mireilles Mattieu and she’s a French national treasure (as they say).

  31. Worky, What do you think of Germaine Greer?
Personally i think she is off her nut to be fair?
“Women’s Lib” is one thing, But she seems to think that a young lass kissing her dad goodnight is a sexual act ffs!

  32. Joe, have you ever read Greer’s book ‘The Beautiful Boy’ where she takes a rather ancient Greek view of sexuality and adolescent boys? At one stage she was slavering over “semen on tap” which was rather controversial for obvious reasons. She wrote about the sexual objectification of women but she was perving over bairns like a dirty old Greek philosopher.

The only other Australian intellectual is Mel Gibson though.

  33. tunyc @40 #

Why mention the obvious, everyone knows we were outsmarted and outcoached by Martinez.

  34. Actually I think we played harder under Catver, than Pardue, I have to admit there was a good deal of effort, from our midfield and both DeJong and Cisse may yet form a partnership.

However apart from Colo, the defending left a lot to be desired, constantly being caught on fast breaks.

Then that’s just an opinion, each of us seeing different things.

The game could be a harbinger of how things could look, if we were to lose Colo.,Debuchy and Santon.

Of course we also need someone up front to replace Remy, who appears to be heading for Arsenal, another decent striker with either DeJong or Gouffran, playing behind the striker.

  35. Worky, I haven’t had the literary pleasure, Although i looked it up on Wikipedia.
She smacks of double standards and certainly trips herself up.
If the shoe was on the other foot she would be up in arms over men seeing women as nothing but sexual objects.
The whole thing looks like complete hypocrisy on her part and it’s tone is slightly dodgy.
So it is okay to look at pictures of young boys without a hair on their chest as opposed to 30 year old male adults who shave their chests.

As i said above, Very dodgy!

  36. “If nature didn’t intend boys to be seduced by older men and women, why did it make them so damnably fetching, so downy-cheeked, rangy-limbed and pert-buttocked?” – Germaine Greer.

You can say things like that if you’re an upper middle class intellectual on Newsnight Review though. What if it was say, a binman or someone who worked for the council etc… who went around saying that about pubescent girls? What do you think would happen?

Though Germaine Greer likes young boys, she is very prejudiced against transexuals for some reason. She refers to male to female transexuals contemptuously as “Pantomime Dames” who can never become a real woman like her. She’s an epic hypocrite.

  37. C’mon guys, you sound like a couple of ancient misogynists, give women a break FFS, they have a tough enough road as it is.

  38. As for the morra’s game, chalk it up for another defeat.

    Why ?
Cause Southampton are a better team, play a modern version of the game and have a much better manager.

Had to shake my head when reading a statement issued by Pardew.

Yes folks, that’s the same contrite guy of only a few days ago back to his arrogant old self, full of confidence and self delusion.

Here’s part of what he said in regard to a reported claim that Ashley likes to watch Newcastle play
    attacking football (don’t we all)

I don’t think he likes tactics where teams set out to defend deep and nick something, it’s not his syle and it’s certainly not mine.

This from a guy who if a goal up, would constantly park the bus, you could guarantee it.

Another delusional comment was…..”my personality (obvious claming Carver was responsible for the side’s recent performances against two relegation bound teams)
which we all know is a little bit of a winning mentality”..

Yes Al ! a very little bit indeed.

I’m afraid we have either a totally delusional whack job
or a sniveling would be conman here ?

And leopards don’t change their spots, so more of the same to come, if you can handle it.

    The man’s f***ing unbelievable !

  39. I’m certainly looking forward to the projected clearout, come summer.

Actually more concerned about those we should be signing, where any blame will obviously be placed on the recently designated goat Charnley, with both Carr and Pardew not about to accept any blame.

There are the optimist’s who believe Remy may be induced to stay, no way that’s gonna happen, when he has his pick of top clubs to choose from.

But if this club is to improve, it’s gonna take a bag full of money in order for it to happen and we are all aware of Ashley’s reluctance to put his hand in his pocket.

So, if in fact there is a big clearout, perhaps we may be seeing a number of youngsters introduced into the lineup, if so god help us, we will be relegation bound by Christmas
Where regardless of how much Ashley spends may end up a day late and a dollar short and through ignorance end up out of the world’s most rewarding league, his worst nightmare.
But we also know he’s a gambler, soh!

Chuck, we’re not discussing women, we’re discussing Germaine Greer.

  41. Yeah I know who she is, and you were both demonizing women, by using the most radical choice available.
It’ the twenty first century for chrissakes !

  42. Chuck, If you listened to the self righteous hypocrite which is Germaine Greer, You would have to agree!

Worky, If Otto the garbage man was to utter such things then the Bizzies and Social Services would be crawling all over him!

Funny to see “The Chronicle” are running an “Alan Pardew Excuse Generator” lol.
This is not before time on the eve of what will probably be yet another defeat.
I haven’t read some of today’s little nuggets but some of the headlines read:

“Alan Pardew Confident That Newcastle Will Replace Loic Remy”.

“Mike Ashley Wants An Attacking Newcastle United Team Next Term, Says Alan Pardew”

“Alan Pardew Backs Rob Elliott To Keep It Clean At Southampton”

Well you can surely take all those to the bank with the Bastion of Truth and Virtue which is Alan Pardew!

These statements should be accompanied by howling wind sound effects and tumble weeds going across the bottom of “The Chronicle” website!

  43. joe hawkins says:
    March 28, 2014 at 5:31 pm

“Funny to see “The Chronicle” are running an “Alan Pardew Excuse Generator” lol.”

I preferred the original ‘Pardew Excuse Bingo,’ which is probably where the Chronic stole the idea from. You’d have a card full of squares and instead of numbers up to 99 you’d have Pardew’s excuses in the squares, eg “the other side were using the wrong tactics” etc…

  44. Chuckles, my critique of Germaine Greer has nothing to do with women, just hypocrisy which affects both sexes equally. I used to live a few doors down the road from another one when I was in Brixton many years ago, Darcus Howe. He’s a famous black racism campaigner. He’s done alot of good things but he’s a total hypocrite too. I once saw him on the TV trying to rip a poor girl to shreds. He called a “mongrel” and all sorts. Her crime? bring of mixed race. He made a bit of noteriety for himself over there once for accusing Joan Rivers of being racist and she responded in her usual dignified, restrained style.

  45. The “other side using the wrong tactics” was a West Ham game that Big Sam won. Pardew said we lost because they were using horrible tactics against us. What he didn’t say was that he was using the very same (long ball) tactics against West Ham, only not as well as West Ham were using them against us!

  46. Worky, I used to like a lot of the programmes and stuff that Darcus used to do.
That was back when TV actually told a bit of truth rather than the watered down brainwashing fare that exists now.

One of the last shows i seen him do about Racism across the UK, His son married a white woman so any kids will be mixed race.
I think he said the North East was the least racist place he encountered on his travels.
He will look like a hypocrite now though if he has those views.

I’m trying to think back to whether he was the host of the late night channel 4 show “The Devil’s Advocate”

The bingo card definitely suits his Mavis from corra qualities lol

  47. Yes lads, you are preaching to the choir in regard to Germaine Greer, though I do think in many cases her radicalism, gave pause for though about some things one had not previously considered.

In regards to Women’s Lib, it being a movement not unlike their predecessors the suffragettes, who’s goals were to improve the lot of women in society.

Sometimes tending to take wrong turns and allowed more radical groups to be spokespersons, which was not always in their own interest.

It happens in the introduction of most radical changes, whether political or social.

It is however, interesting to see some of the results, that came from that movement.

Certainly a number of women have broken through the glass ceiling, becoming CEO’s of some of the largest corporations, the recent appointment of Mary Barra as CEO of GM, being one.

Plus in this world where the need for a strong back as opposed to a brighter mind, has placed many women in a position of equal opportunity, resulting in stay at home househusbands and women breadwinners.

That being the case with some of my friends, one where the stay at home husband, was better suited for the role, he being a chef, the wife being a corporate lawyer.

Which when it occured thirty years ago was considered quite radical, but in to-days society has become commonplace.

Something that most women appear to have easily adapted too, but men still find,(for the most part) difficult in accepting.

Hell I would have enjoyed the role as a kept man, joking of course.

  48. I think I’m gonna give it up in regard to Pardew.

Though it’s not strange that he has emerged from being a
player that few would remember, to a manager.

You have to give the guy top marks for his drive and persistence, refusing to let anything or anyone get in his way.

    Just pure determination.

using both lying mostly and attempting to adapt or confuse, it must have something to do with the self help psychobabble, as I get the idea he really believes his own bullshit.

Of course he is still here and is one of the longest serving managers in the league.

Guess it has more to do with Ashley than any other reason, so we are screwed by this combination of an owner who knows less than nothing and a psychobabble
inspired manager, who though almost as ignorant, believes he is god’s gift to Newcastle United.

    HELP !

  49. There is a match on soon. It is good to watch Lallana.

It is also good to watch ben Arfa. Can we f@cking play him? What do we have to lose – 8th place?

There’s still a few hours yet though, GS. Kick off’s 3pm on a Saturday afternoon for a change.

  51. Moyes looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He looks like he has drank Ferguson’s stash of red wine, smoked 50 tabs and had a chat with Allerdyce and Souness to “cheer” himself up.

This guy is only 51. He looks about 81 now.

But, he can buy a nice suit now he is 5 mil a year.

  52. Whatever the score, I want to see the picture of the plane and the banner going over the ground.

  53. Chuck, Give up on Pardew?
Even a ban by Ashley on “The Chronicle” hasn’t stopped Sandie Shaw spouting his patter and propaganda to get the saps to renew their Season Tickets.

The sad thing about the whole thing is some people actually believe this deluded fool!

  54. Luckily, the Mancs have got an easy game coming up against Bayern, so they wont be needed that plane and banner.

“Moyes looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

Of course he does. The man who takes over from Ferguson is almost certainly going to be a human sacrifice, a Wilf McGuinness to fergie’s Matt Busby. Fergie took over from Big Ron, not Matt Busby so it wasn’t the same for him.

Someone who was in a similar position was Bobby Robson at Barcelona. He was a sacrifice who came between Cruyff, the man who transformed Barcelona as a player and as a coach into the team you see today, and their chosen successor, Louis van Gaal. Bobby took 4-4-2 to the Camp Nou! The fans weren’t impressed at all to start with, the oard thought he would just hold it together for a season until they got their chisen van Gaal.

However, Bobby confounded everyone by being really good, convincing Barcelona to sign THE Ronaldo and winning the Spnaish Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. Even with his Engleesh football, the fans were eventually won over and he put doubts in the mind of the board etc. They still had to appoint van Gaal though.

    Oop! The game’s started!

  56. Good as they are, Pochettino can be taken round the back. Pardew’s done it 4-2 after Southampton got off to an excellent start. That was early days for Pochettino but he still leaves himself open at the back end and capable of being penetrated.

  57. Do you think Krul deserves his place back?

Summarise Ward-Prowse. (yeah I know that is cheesy)

  58. Possibly the worst game I have seen all season, with Newcastle looking clueless.
I don’t know why Southampton haven’t scored a number of times and eventually will.
It appears from body language no one is interested or wants the ball, arguing who’s responsibility it is.
Jogging around the pitch, with no desire, just awful. It’s clearly a side in turmoil, with a questionable back four, with no sign of attacking the S’Hampton goal, only a question of time before Southampton score and how many.

  59. The last thing Geordies want to look back on at half time is the sale of Andy Cole to Manchester United and Kevin Keegan’s shock deprrture after the Enterainers. Why do they have to put that on?

  60. I have been ranting all season about the back four, were it not for the much maligned Elliot, couldda been three or four by now.

Hopefully we see a fit pair of full backs soon.

What on earth allowed two Southampton players to stroll in and score the way they did.

This is a totally disorganized side without a game plan and totally lacking in any team morale.
I really don’t know if I want to watch the second half, things looking hopeless right now.

  61. Perhaps having been subjected to a course in psychobabble
during the halftime period, things may change.
    Yeah sure !

  62. We are shite, we are shite, we are shite.

Game of 2 halfs though? Keep it at 1-0 and get Elliot up there in the last minute to score as he has been the only decent player on the pitch.

  63. Oh! it’s gonna be 4-4-2, quelle surprise ! does that include just wellie it in the direction of the oppositions goal and something might happen ?

  64. They’re getting at us down the flanks. The full backs aren’t defending very well. The thing is that we can’t attack very well though so the defence are under alot of pressure.

“They’re getting at us down the flanks. The full backs aren’t defending very well.”

To be fair, they started to get a bit better after I said that.

  66. The thing about this is…

you can say anything you want about other clubs’ managers and how good they are but we dont have them and apart from Martinez who was relegated we probably didn’t have a chance of getting any of them.

    Clarke, yes.

Do you really think we have a chance of Klopp or Simioene? Did Chuck even know who Pochettino was before they hired him?

  67. That’s the result of keeping your shape, as per instructions, four defenders all backing away from the man with the ball, giving him an open shot.
Too bad Taylor wasn’t playing he would have thrown his body at the ball.
This is worse than I expected.

  68. One good thing about the game is that we have finally figured out that M’biwa is not a very good right full back.

  69. What does Fat Ashley think when he is watching this s**t?

How the hell does Sandie Shaw keep his job?

What is the meaning of life?

The questions will baffle scientists for years to come!

  70. Joe: at least you and Chuck are on here during the latest shellacking – after Spurs, Sunderland, Everton. How much more can we take?

When we get beat, we go down in flames. That cant be a sign of a good manager?

  71. well there’s another hiding!

I wonder what the excuse will be for today’s debacle?

  72. JOE

When you have an owner who knows less than nothing about football, anything is possible.

  73. The other thing is that Pards used to manage Southampton. They must be having a gay old time, as the Flintsones put it.

  74. Well, there’s Ars@ and Citeh, and I am recording Athletic and Athletico so the day will not be totally wasted.

Plus, we have had 2 days consecutively above freezing for the 1st time in 2 months in Chicago.

  75. Don’t know what the excuse will be, he’s got plenty left no doubt.
But you can bet your ass it will begin with.
    We was, blah, bla ..
My question is how does a smart self made billionaire continue to be conned by an idiot ?

  76. Chuck, Anything is possible, And it is coming to something when a 4-0 scoreline actually flatters us!
It could have been 9 or 10 if they had taken their chances in the first half.

  77. I mentioned here before that I doubt if we will win another game this season, mentioning perhaps only against Stoke, but after to-days fiasco I’m gonna say not even against Stoke.

Plus if here is a clearout, without some decent replacements, there’s no doubt we will be relegated.
Is Ashley aware of that ?

This club needs a lotta help right now.

  78. Chuck, Joe Kinnear was able to pull the wool over his eyes for quite a while as well!
He really knows nothing about football does wor Mike.

  79. And for the Elliott critics, you obviously don’t know what you are on about, he was the only player in the side (well maybe Sissoko) who earned his wages to-day.

  80. chuck says:
    March 29, 2014 at 5:06 pm

“And for the Elliott critics, you obviously don’t know what you are on about,”

Which Elliot critics, Chuck? He hardly ever plays.

  81. Who is an Eliot critic? I haven’t seen any.

And Chuclkes, I hope Brentan wins it with Liverpool because they are playing the best football. And I know I will never hear the last of it.

  82. This has to be the worst loss of the season. Other games when we got thrashed we were chasing the game and got hit on the counter-attack.

This game, we were never in it from the first minute. We were lucky to get out of there letting in ONLY 4 goals.

  83. According to ESPN’s gamecast, Newcastle United’s most forward player throughout the game yesterday was Paul Dummett. Next behind him was defensive midfielder Vurnon Anita. On the right side, Davide Santon’s average position was slightly in front of Hatem Ben Arfa. The man who was supposed to be keeping things tight behind Hatem Ben Arfa was actually playing in front of him.

Newcastle were completely overun on the flanks. Southampton were putting in crosses at will because the full backs were nowhere to be seen.

  84. We have had some of our biggest hidings in our recent history with this joker in charge.
Enough is enough!, Nothing Sandie Shaw is doing now is having any kind of effect on anything.
It really is like flogging a dead horse, And Ashley or someone close to him needs to give him the heads up.
Pardew will definitely take us down if he is given more time, And has stayed at least 18 months past his sell by date!

  85. Watched the Fulham vs Everton match.
Interesting game, considering how hapless Fulham have been for most of the season.
The mistake was in not hiring Magath earlier.
Who has them organized and working hard, resulting in them edging the first half, but a better and younger Everton gradually took over and broke them down at will, late in the game.
My point is one man, can make an enormous difference, if he happens to be a manager, who knows what he’s doing.

  86. Unlike at Newcastle, where, whether we win or lose, depends on the players themselves, they are either up for it or like yesterday, at odds with each other as they
certainly (according to body language) had little intention of putting themselves out, constantly arguing and blaming one and other.
Of course this is all a result of poor management.
Where we have a manager who’s up standard setup is a relic from the past being clueless.
But when you end up by hiring not on merit, but
according to how much one will have to pay, then
    you are in trouble.
Yep it’s the blind leading the blind, and if some positive action from Ashley is not forthcoming, then we may very well be in danger of relegation, during this coming season.

  87. Unbelievable, Liverpool just made it look easy, by breaking Spurs down, and scoring number one in the opening minutes of the game…..

  88. So when Liverpool bought Carroll and Suarez we laughed at them, and Enrique for what he said in Twitta. Who’s laughing now though? Suarez is worth as much as what Liverpool paid for him and Carroll combined, they got about 50% back for Carroll and they’re fighting for the league.

  89. Guess who Liverpool play on the last game of the season? If they are still up there, we may as well hand them the title before the game.

  90. The difference in management is obvious, Spurs, man for man, is a side on par with Liverpool (apart from Suarez) but Sherwood like Pardew has no clue.

Whereas people like Rodgers and Martinez prepare their game plan on which team they are about to play, horses for courses.

It’s discouraging for Newcastle fans, who realize we are at the mercy of two ignoramuses, with no relief in sight.
All bases on “What’s it gonna cost me”

What Ashley needs is a confidant, who could explain the facts concerning football.

But from his previous decisions, Llambias, Joe, and Pardew, he only feels comfortable in the company of sleezy characters.

Who little does he know, know as little as he knows.
    Ah well!

  91. Chuck, man. I like what Rodgers is doing but there is a massive difference – Liverpool have a world class striker with 29 goals and he doesn’t even take penalties and was banned for 5 games.

I agree Sherwood is similar to Pardew. I could see them both in the casino with Ashley. Ashley lining up a couple of hookers for them and encouraging them to bet their future wages on red.

  92. Chuck, Spot on!, I was going to say the same thing myself.
Look at the Fulham v Everton game today, Fulham equalize to make it 1-1.
Martinez is then able to make his substitution in Kevin Mirallas who has an immediate impact for him.

You then take our “Amateur Half Hour” of a manager Sandie Shaw, Apart from him whispering sweet nothings into Cabaye’s ear which resulted in a goal.
Can anyone hand on heart remember a time that this idiot has ever been able to change or turn a game around?

  93. Van Gaal will be the new Spurs manager, lucky them!

Appears Debuchy wants off to PSG, can anyone blame him.

When I think of how Liverpool decided Suarez had a contract, and decided to hold onto him, compared to our dealing with Cabaye, where the lure of an apparent nineteen million took him, it’s obvious what Ashley thinks.

The talk of selling HBA, Cisse, Debuchy, and Marveaux, leves us with a second tier side and we will be relegated.

But more important the continuation of Pardew at this club will ensure it.

The exclusion of HBA, Marveaux and Taylor for most of the season, is unbelievably stupid, I just don’t get it?

As a matter of fact, I don’t get most of Pardews cunning plans and would be willing to trade him for Baldrick at this stage.

What happened following the Southampton game to the usual excuses from an interminable supply, I cant believe he has run out.
The SOB scurried of like a rat into the bunker.

FFS fire his ass and hire a real manager, or we are f***ed, C

  94. I mean how thick can Ashley be, not to see what’s happening at his club, it’s been six years plus now, of stumbling from one fiasco to another, all based on the f***ing morons he has hired and his personal greed to accumulate wealth.

He apparently recently stated he would like to see attacking football and Pardew immediately jumped on that, claiming that was his game.

I mean this is like some surreal comedy show with the recent Joe saga just another part of the series.

If most Newcastle fans are not cringing in embarrassment having been subject to everything that happened during the Ashley regime, they obviously don’t understand.

  95. Joe @118 “Can anyone hand on heart remember a time that this idiot has ever been able to change or turn a game around?”

No, obviously, Joe. But it doesn’t help that he’s limited in terms of the substitutions he can make – whenever we get anyone of any quality, we sell them. Then again, if he had the semblance of a backbone, that wouldn’t happen (then AGAIN, that’s why he’s our manager).

GS pointed out earlier that Louis Suarez has played a big part in Liverpool’s excellent season. But, if he’d been daft enough to come to us, he’d have been sold ages ago, and we’d have been told that “he wanted to leave and there was nothing we could do about it”.

The changes we need to see all start with the owner. A change the attitude of the owner, with him coming to realise that the fans need to see effort and AMBITION before they’ll part with their money – then we’ll get a new manager, new investment in the side (as would be promised to any new manager who isn’t a desperado, prepared to come under any circumstances), and a set of players with something to play for other than putting themselves in the shop window.

There’s nothing to suggest that any of this will happen soon, of course.

  96. The current management hires people who are GRATEFUL; maybe even DESPERATE to get back into football.

The last thing Ashley wants is somebody TALENTED and AMBITIOUS. Those kind of people expect to be given a chance to further their career (by winning things). They speak their mind when they’re being sold short and they have too many principles to carry the can for underinvestment and having their team sabotaged by the owner and his board.

The people we want to run the team wouldn’t come here at the moment (even if they were wanted). And if they did come, they wouldn’t be staying very long.

  97. What will it take for Ashley to hire people who have a bit of self respect and the ability to successfully manage this side.

A f***ing miracle and we know how rare they are.

I can only think of one reason, that of being relegated.

Which no one wants to see, but if that’s what it takes, so be it.

To either get rid of Ashley or get him to realize that hiring sleazy, know nothing con-men is not the way to go and will cost you more in the long run.

  98. I’m outta here it’s too depressing, especially having watched some entertaining games lately and realizing what kind of football we could be playing.

We could have the entire Barcelona side here and Pardew would end up with us in mid table.

Come to think of it, ain’t that both Ashley and Pardew’s goal.

  99. Watching Liverpool and Southampton has actually cheered me up a bit. Gerrard doesn’t seem like he is totally past it and if Roy builds the England team around Liverpool and Southampton we could be OK – I mean, we will still go out in the first round but we might play some more entertaining football (as long as Rooney doesn’t freeze like he does in most big matches).

Rooney is being paid almost as much as Messi – there’s something wrong there.

  100. Darth: Grandpa Simpson will crow if Liverpool win the League, but nobody even argued with him that Brendan might be good. It was about the fact he was unproven because he hadn’t done anything. Grandpa anointed him and went on and and on and on, repeating himself like it means anything.

Now, I am torn between wanting a free flowing attacking side to win the league and hearing him crow.

He also talks like that there is a lot of love for Pardew and Ashley on here. I don’t see that :)

  101. Oh, and Chuck mate @124: you also said we might be relegated this year when we were on about 36 points. You forgot that the bottom teams have to play each other and we really only needed 4 points from 14 games to stay up.

So, before you go crowing about Brendan, remember the other shite you talk.

  102. So what does everyone think the final points tally for this season will be?
Personally i cannot see us finishing with anything above 52 points, And that is only if we beat the two Welsh Sides.
I know you get twists and turns but i cannot see us surprising anyone because we are so predictable.
Knowing us we will probably not be good enough to be up for the two winnable games!

  103. GS, you were ranitng about all the so called ‘craft breweries’ over there the other day. Funnily enough I’ve just listened to a Radio Four show on that very subject.

Apparently, the man to blame is UK beer critic, Michael Jackson. I remember him, he did a show about beers of the world on Channel 4 over here many years ago and it was called ‘the Beer Hunter.’ I remember watching that and looking at one of his books about beer as well. All the craft brewers kept coming up with his name as their inspiration and when I think about it, he taught me alot of what I know about beer. He died in 2007. I didn’t know he became a huge cult figure with a load of Yank homebrew people.

  104. joe hawkins says:

“Personally i cannot see us finishing with anything above 52 points,”

But that really isn’t terrible, Joe. I keep saying we should be around eighth with what we have, seventh before Everton overtook us after Ashley shifted key players like Ba and Cabaye. We could finish ninth or tenth, slightly below where we should be but not disastrous. It certainly won’t be last season.

So where does it all come come from? What is it that drives people insane about Pardew even when he isn’t doing that badly in the grand scheme of things?

As we are so erratic with Pardew, perhaps we should turn the problem on it’s head and ask, what is it that makes him so good (sometimes)? It can’t be denied that he’s got some real results to counterbalance the games of pure, distilled awfulness. His records against some top teams like Manchester United and Chelsea have certainly been better than might be expected. We’ve had fairly sustained runs where we’ve played like a lower end top team separated by absolutely hideous runs.

  105. Worky @130: I wouldn’t have moaned if most of them were any good. As I said there is a reason why Spaten is still around after 1000 years and these fad beers that taste like a combination of soap and yeast will mostly be gone in 10 years.

Usually they have Guiness on tap and the old school beers in bottles so I don’t go thirsty. One of your other contributors thinks it would be a good thing if I was thirsty more often :)

  106. Worky

Do you really believe that Pardew was responsible for our wins, as opposed to the players were up for the games that day.

Now I could believe that about Magath, Rodgers or Martinez, Pochttino etc. who have the ability to analyze the competition, select the players and tactics to best oppose them and instill the necessary confidence in his players to accomplish the task at hand.

Not only that, to be able to change tactics, instantaneously and seamlessly, if required.

Does that sound like Pardew, FFS man,it’s been obvious since his arrival, he’s nothing but a piss poor excuse for a manager, who’s a better con-man, with the ability to deny any blame, it’s always been someone else’s fault, even the fans at times.

But it now appears the game is up, not because those now baying for his head understand that, fact is they are tired of watching shit football and being beat by relegation bound sides.

He’s lost most of the fans, except those who don’t know any better and still think he can still do the job.

The media and Pundit’s are in agreement, and had he been at any other PL side, would have been dumped years ago.

Hopefully the other footballing ignoramus, Ashley, will get the message, but don’t count on it.

  107. And Worky: I don’t know who the craft beer guy is you are referring to but he probably brewed decent stuff, like the real ale movement when compared to p@sswater like Miller Light. However, most of these craft beers taste like they were brewed in someone’s bathtub after they took a bath with six dogs having plodged in the clarts for a day.

  108. If things continue as they have, I predict we will now finish tenth, with Stoke overtaking us before the season’s over.

Which means as predicted a top ten side, yeah great!

Time is running out, time that should be spent, looking for a future manager, who in consultation with Carr can select a list of who, why, and how much, to bring to Ashley, for approval.

Then there is the task of bringing his philosophy to the side, hopefully someone like those recent good young managers who have filled various roles in the PL, and who understand the modern game, though I certainly don’t
dismiss those middle aged successful managers.

Just puhleez! no BSA’s or Pulis’s, as following Pardew, we need to watch some attractive play, with perhaps some flair players involved, hell I wouldn’t mind tenth place as long as we could watch entertaining football, after all, it’s show business, well aint it ?

Ah! what am I saying, ain’t gonna happen.

We are just an adjunct to the Ashley empire, that’s used as a television advertising board, combined with a nice income from tv revenues and as long as Ashley’s pockets are filled each year, no changes should be expected.

  109. I see 2 or 3 points. Pardew normally goes on streaks (as did did Derek, but that is a different story). We could lose every game. I don’t know if that is a good or a bad thing as it might get him sacked.

Remember, Ashley can still say Pardew was sacked for cause after the “headbutt”. Just because he didn’t sack him the day after, doesn’t mean he didn’t deserve to be sacked. Fatty has the resources to tie Pards up in court for years.

  110. Worky, That’s a fair assessment of where we should finish although should we not have been pushing on to finish higher?
We should have never let Cabaye go, And we should have strengthened in January.
Are Everton and Southampton that much better than us that we shouldn’t be up there challenging with them?
Everton are a footballing pauper who continue to do well without spending much money.

It’s definitely a combination of Ashley’s running of the club and Pardew’s inconsistency.
i think the time will come where even Ashley will have to concede that it is that very consistency that makes a good manager, And Pardew is not the man over a full Season.

We have threw quite a few points away through Pardew’s management style, If you can call it that.
Makes you wonder where we might have ended up without Ashley and Pardew’s influence!

“So where does it all come come from? What is it that drives people insane about Pardew even when he isn’t doing that badly in the grand scheme of things?”

He’s doing MIDDLINGLY well in the scheme of things THIS SEASON worky! That’s the best he as a mediocre journeyman can do. And that’s OK by him. And that’s PERFECT for Ashley. You’ve forgotten last season, evidently.

“It can’t be denied that he’s got some real results to counterbalance the games of pure, distilled awfulness.”

It can’t be denied we beat Man U at Old Trafford this season, worky. So did several other teams. Then Pardew stood by with his hands in his pockets as the guy who got the winning goal was sold when anyone with a spine would have kicked up Holy Hell, maybe even walked.

What’s wrong with Pardew is – he’s a moldy, talentless journeyman brought in to touch his toes and mind his P’s and Q’s. He’s a guy who won’t ask for anything, and won’t bleat when he doesn’t get it.

Even if we get lucky with a few quality cut-price signings in the closed season, we might see half his squad sold in the middle of next season without a squeek from him. He’ll be happy as long as he can field eleven players and just hoof the ball into the box – which, as I recall, you rightly weren’t too happy yourself about last season.

“We could lose every game. I don’t know if that is a good or a bad thing as it might get him sacked.”

He won’t get sacked GS. We’re going to finish tenth or eleventh.

We’re not supposed to get into a league position that will tie us into a competition next year, and we’re not supposed to have a cup run (nothing that will stretch the squad for the league campaign). And, of course, we’re not supposed to get relegated.

    Mission accomplished, I’d say.

  113. Darthbroon, The negative side of that is if Sunderland go down it makes Sandie Shaw’s job a little bit easier, And i don’t want to see that happen lol.
Because he will never ever win another Derby game and that is two less games for Ashley to possibly see the light.

  114. I don’t see how it makes his job easier, Joe. Pards only has to stick to Chubs modest plans – and HE certainly doesn’t care about derbys. He only cares about having a cheap risk-free season that guarantees our place in the EPL for the next one.

To be honest, I only looked in to see how Andy Caroll was playing. There’s some talk he might be playing himself into contention for a place on the plane to Brazil. Can’t see it myself. The header was vintage Caroll but the rest of his game isn’t there yet.

A good exciting game though. West Ham were lucky to hang on.

  115. I don’t really care who goes down, tbh. I almost miss last season’s relegation battle as you’re actually playing for something (if that makes any sense).

In any case, that’s the only way we’re gonna shake fatty’s grasp – bobbling around at the bottom with the risk of relegation threatening the value of the club.

  116. Look! we all go on about what the problem with this club are.

It obviously begins with the owner.

Who bought the club as a plaything but had the vision to project the tv appearances as a major freeby for his real business, Sports Direct.

Giving him access to a worldwide audience.

Face it when NUFC are playing at home, how is it possible to miss the Sports Direct advertisements.

In the early stages he had no clue, certainly no more than an average fan had.

But face it, it’s been a long time, with lot’s of screw-ups, including relegation.

And it’s obvious by now, he has reached a conclusion, certainly in regard to the European shit tournament, which not many clubs want to get involved in.

Due to the general wear and tear on players, without much in the sense of achievement or financial reward, plus it’s resulting demand on having to finance it with a fairly decent sized squad, plus travel expenses, plus make greater demands on the clubs ability to compete in the EPL.

Ergo, a top ten finish, meaning security to continue to reap the rewards of Tv’s big bucks which are due to increase, and not worry about relegation.

The other part of the equation is, the present rip off of the French league, buying there best talent, for the purpose of selling them off for a profit, while in the meantime, keeping us in the PL, yeah folks, it’s all about putting money in Mike Ashleys pocket.

If anyone who hasn’t figured that out by now, obviously
they have not been paying attention.

Obviously I haven’t mentioned Pardew or other stuff, that’s just part of Ashleys, cheapass method of keeping expenses to a minimum, or the fact Newcastle fans continue to buy his cheapass products (WONGA shirts).

That and season tickets, Why ?

Yeah there was an early negative reaction to Ashley, including the stadium name change and other stuff.
But it appears the present situation is one of surrender, with no real opposition, what does that say about Newcastle fans?

Well I’m about to tell you, they have become so inured, they are willing to accept whatever Ashley decides.

    Sad but true!

I don’t know who bought the club as a “plaything” because Ashley certainly didn’t. Hall was right, he bought it to promote Sports Direct around the world. That is obvious when you look at the evidence.

“That’s the best he as a mediocre journeyman can do.”

He came fifth though, Darth. That’s not as good as some people thought it was as we should have come seventh anyway and Chelsea and Liverpool did shite in the League, preferring to win cup competitions like the League Cup and the Champions League instead

“It can’t be denied we beat Man U at Old Trafford this season, worky. So did several other teams.”

We’ve beaten them before Moyes with the Silver Savage though. We beat them 3-0 with Fergie at the helm and two draws before that. Pardew’s record against Chelsea is P7, W3, D1, L3 so we’re evens there. If we brush the humiliation against Liverpool under the carpet for a moment, our record against them hasn’t been too bad either. Tottenham ditto though Psycho’s record against the Arsenal isn’t that good and he’s got nothing whatsoever out of Man City.

  119. I think that’s what buys Pardew time as a manager is his occasional results against the “Big Boys”.
This tends to mask his deficiencies and inconsistencies on a week to week basis.
When he does get a result he trades on it for weeks while his teams are losing to inferior opposition.
That is when you start to get the excuses, “That Wasn’t Us”,
“We Just Didn’t Get The Breaks”, “That Was Unacceptable” etc.

So when he gets a result against a Man Utd or a Chelsea, Fans are more forgiving to him and he gets away with it.
It boils my slash because he does tend to walk away from car crashes like some movie stunt man!

The fans have nothing to do with it, Joe! What we think doesn’t count. Pressure from the fans (as if) could never get us another manager under Ashley – and Gawd only knows what kind of desperado he’d replace him with anyway.

Only a big dip in the ticket sales (season tickets especially) would make Ashley listen to anyone else. Ain’t gonna happen.

    “He came fifth though, Darth.”

A good team punching well above its weight, worky. As much as we were enjoying it, many of us said as much at the time.

It’s the best he’ll ever do for us.

  122. I’d say the worst is yet to come from him – but it probably isn’t. Likely, things will be much the same as this season.

He’ll be promised a modest war chest and he’ll make it sound like he’s been given carte blanche to buy in a top strike force, a creative midfielder etc.

He’ll buy a few essentially unproven/unblooded players who’ve been touted as targets for a few other name clubs – then he’ll work his ‘magic’ on the field – shutting down in the second half on the strength of a single goal lead, baffling (late) substitutions, launching long balls over the top of midfield etc.

Anyone making an outstanding contribution will be sold on if there’s the chance of turning a fast buck, and that tosser won’t utter so much as whimper.

  123. Darthbroon, I reckon if we sacked Pardew we would be looking at people like Laurie Sanchez, Mick Harford and Mr Football Conspiracy himself Mike Newell.
It would definitely be around that kind of stamp or even looking North Of The Border for a Terry Butcher which you used to get a free haircut somewhere, So that would come in handy.

  124. The thing i find more alarming about him is his patter is getting more bizarre and left field.
He is now saying he wants Middle class kids coming through the academy.
He then went on to cite Southampton of all places as some kind of Middle class haven.
I was there years ago and it looked more rough Working class to me like Portsmouth than Guildford or Woking.

  125. WORKY @ 146 #

Did I not say so in the same sentence, you must have missed the part where I stated he had the vision to see it as a major freeby, a tv worldwide advertising board for his real business.

And how do you know he didn’t also buy the club on a whim, as a plaything, he certainly wouldn’t have been the first to have done so.

Being it was a quick sale, without admittedly having time to involve due diligence.

  126. I reckon Pardew is a slightly below average manager. Guessing that we’ll finish 9th or 10th this season, that gives him an average finishing position of between 10th and 11th. I reckon, financially speaking, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and the two Manchesters have more clout than us, and that we are (or should be) at the same level as teams like Everton (and maybe West Ham, Villa, Southampton too), so we should be finishing maybe 7th – 9th. Pardew punched above his weight to get us that 5th place finish, below his weight for the 12th and 16th place finishes and probably about where we should be this season (a bit below if we get 10th rather than 9th).

Thusly I’d say he’s a slightly below average manager. An average manager would have us maybe 8th or 9th every season and a good manager maybe 5th – 7th. It would take a truly top class manager (and maybe a lot of luck too) to get us into the top 4 and, assuming Ashley doesn’t suddenly fork out £100m on the squad, such ventures would be very rare even with a top class manager.

We really need to start taking the cups seriously as they’re our only realistic chance at silverware.

“Pardew punched above his weight to get us that 5th place finish”

Hugh, Pardew punched his weight exactly. Liverpool and Chelsea punched well below theiir weight in the League that season though.

  128. Better forget any silverware until this hustler leaves, talking about Ashley, from where all decisions are made.

We have a state of the art stadium, almost filled to the brim every second week.

But unlike the top, clubs, no ambition to win anything, but it’s winning that generates sales and income, than
at present NUFC can only dream of.

On the other hand it’s obvious what Ashley’s strategy is.

As opposed to those who though with smaller stadiums, have way higher brand rec

  129. workyticket says: “Hugh, Pardew punched his weight exactly. Liverpool and Chelsea punched well below theiir weight in the League that season though.”

Yes but there are always going to be teams punching below or above their weight. He still had to ensure it was us and not another team that filled the void left by Chelsea and Liverpool.

Over a number of seasons I’d like to think it would average out. I’ll give him credit for that 5th place and take it away from him for the poor finishes even if other teams punched above their weight and shifted us down in those.

I just don’t think Pardew’s a terrible manager. I don’t think he’s a good one either. It’s mediocrity all round at NUFC these days.

  130. …recognition and because of it way higher profits.

However success has it’s price, buying the right players, paying higher wages and many find themselves on
    a financial treadmill.

Whereas Ashley employs the same ethos as he does with his rag trade operation, buy cheap, sell on for a profit.

Willing to settle for mid league mediocrity, while happy enough to receive the current riches from PL league
    membership.

A lot depends on rotation of players in and out of the
club, can he continue to find the players, at the right price with good sell on (profitable) expectations.

And avoid relegation, I’m afraid that’s how it works.

Of course a rare beating of top clubs, will keep the
    fans happy.

But it’s all based on the old retailers mantra, buy cheap
sell at a decent profit and as long as the system works, that same policy will continue.

  131. In which case getting rid of Pardew, will not make much difference, as long as Ashley’s overall plan remains in place.
One has to get rid of the source as opposed to treating the symptons.

I mean god only knows what kind of replacement we will end up with (though there’s a hint in Ashley’s recent declaration, he enjoys attacking football) should he
    (Pardew) be fired.

Hell I’m so sick of Pardew (who had been at any other PL side, would be gone long ago) that I would certainly be willing to accept just about anyone.

But, it just aint gonna happen, so it’s more of the same,
    AAAaaaaggghhhh !

  132. Surprise, Man U. had a pretty good outing or if you like, Bayern Munich, played a poor game to-day.

Bayern controlling the first half, apart from Welbeck missing a golden opportunity, with only the keeper to beat.

The second half was an improvement, M.U switching to a more direct style, hoofing it over the top, giving the slower Bayern defenders fit’s at time.

Guess Moyes learned his tactics at the same school as Pardew, like many English club managers, the panic button, brings out a long gone style that tends to confuse and upset non English sides, having never encountered it before.

    Hey ! whatever works.

Though things will be more interesting in the return game, with captain Schweinsteiger being ejected for a foul/dive? on Rooney, along with a yellow for his defender team-mate, both who will miss the return match.

I was just wondering, if MU were to scrape by, beating Munich, (as we speak recognized as the best side in Europe), what would the fans say then ?

  133. Yes it’s true their had been a number of sides who either punched above or below their weight’s the season before.
A number of them only recently recruited, were in the process of instituting their particular style of play.

Pardew having had a number of years at Newcastle, doesn’t have that excuse (probably the only excuse he can’t use)unless you count the fact that five French players were added to the roster.

I’m of the opinion, a fifth place finish, will be the highlight of his less than auspicious career and unless we spend a shit-load of money come the summer, don’t expect anything close to fifth again.

According to UEFA, Bayern Munich are the third best in European competition over the last five years with Barcelona on top according to UEFA rankings. In the last year alone they rate Real Madrid as number one.

    http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/

Newcastle United are 70th after their magnificent run in the Europa League, which Alan Pardew blamed for almost getting the club relegated. Thats where we are after almost seven years of Ashley.

He’s come 11th on average when his average should be 8th. I may have said 9th on a previous occaision but I tightened things up a bit.

“I just don’t think Pardew’s a terrible manager. I don’t think he’s a good one either. It’s mediocrity all round at NUFC these days.”

Mediocrity tends to suggest just plugging away in an average, fairly consistent way. We all know that isn’t Pardew though. 5th one season, then 16th. Focus in and just look within one single season, this one so far.

First 18 games of the Premier League season, Newcastle United played 18 PL games, Won 10, Drawn 3, Lost 5. That’s 33 out of 54 points. That’s 69.666666 recurring points per season. That’s better than when we came fifth with 65 and lower end Champions League form.

Since then we’ve played 14, Won 4, Drawn 1 and Lost 9. That’s only 13 points out of 42 and 35.29 points per season, which is fighting against relegation points.

That’s the Silver Headbanger for you. He’s a wildcard, he’s a maverick or whatever, but certainly not in a fun, entertaining way, even when he’s doing well.

  136. I reckon Kevin Keegan would have loved to work with players like Ben Arfa, Cabaye etc
In fact he would have been as happy as a pig in s**t!
He would have got the best out of them and had us playing much better football than Pardew ever could hope to do.

I know some will cite his faults, Foibles and huffs but that is why i do not rate Pardew at all.
You could bring someone like Kevin back into football after a few years break and he would have us playing decent attacking football in no time at all.

  137. Joe, just let him go. That isn’t the way and it wasn’t the way last time either. It wasn’t even the way the time before that back in the nineties.

  138. Are we back talking bout Pardew, a mediocrity who came cheap, to keep us out of any (non earning) European tournaments, (the shit league) as that’s what’s his forte mediocrity.
But you ignore the real danger to this club, our cheap-ass owner and his lack of investment, his goal is obvious, to emulate the Glasers by using the side as his personal cash cow.
His first move was to fire BSA who had a backroom staff of thousands, then it was the general staff at St.James’.
Penny pinching, that should have been a harbinger of how the club would operate in the future, on the cheap.
Just look at his hirings, the only reason Hughton got an opportunity was he came cheap, but didn’t fit, being too honest and unlike the rest wasn’t prepared to screw the players in regard to getting them to sign bonus contracts.

Just look at the list, Chris Mort, who knew less about football than Ashley, who was hired to sort out the finances, then scurried as fast as his little legs would carry him, back to the City.

Dennis Wise, do I have to say more ?

    Llambias, who was Ashleys

  139. Worky, I’d suggest that disparity between the first 18 games and the second 18 games this season is largely due to losing Cabaye and the injuries that have kept Remy out.

  140. …. ass wiper, doing all of his dirty work, a real sleazeball, found in some casino and hired for peanuts.

Who mysteriously resigned, probably got tired of eating shit.

And of course there’s Mr Mediocrity himself, the liar,
who was also found in possibly the same casino and recommended by Llambias, someone who knew less about football than Ashley.

Not to mention, the renaming of St. James’ Park, then the mysterious renaming, in some undisclosed deal with the loanshark’s WONGA.

Of course there’s the rip off of having to be a member
and pay the fee, in order to purchase away tickets and the five year deals for season ticket’s, all nickel and dime stuff, that’s typical of this jumped up market stall operator that hit the big time, but still looks after the penny’s.

Everything negative that has occurred over the last few years can be traced directly back to Ashley, as he is IMO a total control freak who’s say so is needed on every decision.

In which case we can expect a repeat performance of the last seven years, and with he being a gambler, could easily include relegation.

  141. WORKY @163 #

Look who are the current European Champions ?

And until they are knocked off their perch, so to speak, that’s good enough for me, as I’m not really interested in anyone else’s opinions including yours.

  142. Worky, As it stands now i wouldn’t have Keegan back because he is too unstable.
I was just using him as an example of a manager who gets it down and passes it, And how even he now could get more from our squad.

Personally i wouldn’t swap what Keegan did in the 90’s because he did give us some good and exciting times, And you cannot take that away from him.
Although ultimately with hindsight his style was never going to win a trophy, But it was a good roller coaster of a ride while it lasted.

  143. The inconsistency of results, game-by-game and by season, under AP tells me he has little influence. He could get us into upper-midtable/lower-top-ten spot every season, which is the best we can really expect, and I’d still loathe him because of his ridiculous, hypocritical, counterfactual water-carrying for NUFC’s odious owner. He should have shut up and referred all those inquiries to higher authority long ago, but he just can’t help himself. Oh right-that and the fact that his water carrying is why he has this job.

I do wonder who will be willing to come here. Chancers, kids and other sorts of desperados. And beware to them-Ben Arfa, for example, I believe has had what was a still-promising career when he came here completely ruined by NUFC’s manager, coaches and medical staff.

  144. Couldn’t agree more, Joe. And we almost did win the big one twice, let’s not forget.

Those were great days. We were everyone’s second favorite team for a reason.

I’ll always thank KK for that.

  145. Hugh

It’s not a case of presenting statistics, all you have to do is watch how Newcastle play.

Both Pulis and Big Sam, play the most boring, yet statistically successful game in the PL.

Their goal is primarily to avoid relegation, they are specialists in that role and unlike Pardew know all about defense and set pieces, where the majority of their goals come from.

But that’s why Pulis is no longer managing Stoke, the fans forced him out, having had enough of watching shit football.

And BSA will probably suffer the same fate at West Ham, who’s fans appreciate a different brand, one that includes a bit of flair.

And I agree with the fans of both clubs.

That will leave basically us, as the only side playing direct football, as other clubs have seen the light and hired managers who understand the modern game.

But I dare anyone to define Pardew’s game which is nowhere near either managers mentioned above, as we haven’t scored from a set piece all season, well apart from Cabaye’s goals, (where is he now)

There was a time when Pardew was gushing over HBA, but he has subsequently left both him and Marveaux sitting on the bench.

Truth is he doesn’t like flair players, never having been one, being more of a plodder like Williamson.

Well i’m tired of seeing decent players converted into
“keep your shape plodders” and the only time we win is when the side revert to how they played before coming to St. James’Park.

This is not rocket science FFS and present all the statistics you like, but I’m in the camp of the Stoke fans, who recognized as long as Pulis was in charge, they would have to watch a brand of football, that was the least entertaining, after all football is supposed to be an entertaining spectacle, not plain boredom.

  146. @ 168: absolutely. That and the fact that, since our horrible results in Jan/Feb and the sale of Cabaye, NUFC’s season has been finished. The death knell was Barley’s goal. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a goal scored in the PL with so little resistance from the defense, ever. Great goal, my ass. Couldn’t somebody have at least fouled him as he covered 50-60 yards at a trotting pace?

We do well or poorly based on what the players feel like doing on any given weekend (and luck). I don’t believe AP (or Carver-ha!) has any influence. They’ve tuned him out, rightly.

  147. @ 171: I have to say I’m with you there. The Spanish clubs are in a mini-decline. The last five years? Pro sports isn’t even a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business. It’s a what-are-you-doing-for-me-right-now business.

Barcelona’s richly-deserved transfer ban ain’t gonna help them get back on top either.

But Chuck-promoted sides will always play percentage football and yes, there are clubs on the continent who play it. Granted, it’s not where NUFC-a top flight club in arguably the best league in the world for most of two decades-should be.

  148. And Chuck-one thing is missing from your narrative. Stoke fans only came to that conclusion once they realized Pulis’ football might not keep them up anyway. As long as they believed it was the key to retaining their top-flight status they had no problem with it by and large. That’s why there will always be some clubs playing like that.

Yes, I know, Hugh. I thought about that but I also thought we had the same disparities when Cabaye was actually playing in the side. We came 5th with Cabaye, we also came 16th with Cabaye. We’ve had winning runs with Cabaye and we’ve had losing runs with Cabaye. We’ve been great with Cabaye and we’ve been shite with Cabaye.

He was an important player and a big loss, but Pardew’s attempts to reshape the team are a joke. Two forwards who never score and a centre forward who can score a bit is playing on the left wing. He seems to be deliberately f*cking the heads up of the most talented players he’s had and Cabaye got out just in time.

  150. JOE

As I mentioned prior, I wouldn’t care if we remained a seventh to tenth place side, as long as we played entertaining football, after all a good hundred percent effort accompanied with a bit of flair, is all that a fan can hope for in a side.

Hell, nothing more exciting than the fans roaring attack! attack!

Football is not about points, it’s about entertainment, for instant the Newcastle vs Liverpool games of the nineties, were possibly the most entertaining games of the era, sure we lost, but were entertained, not embarrassed , not like last Saturday.

What’s Pardews latest, oh! “we need some freshening up”?

And according to Pardew Ashley has made the claim, he likes to watch attacking football (hell who doesn’t).

Which could be Pardew death knell, even though he immediately jumped on that, claiming that was his game.
Does this guy have no shame ?

  151. Aye Worky, there are lots of variables, which is why I reckon the league finishing position as compared to where we perhaps should be in terms of funds invested in the squad is as good a measure as any. That ideally needs to be averaged over a good number of seasons to balance out all the individual spikes and troughs due to the many influencing variables.

There are other measures of a manager of course. Perhaps the way the football is played is another one. Football is, after all, part of the entertainment business.

F**k that! That’s the kind of thing daft Geordie losers say. I couldn’t give a flying f*ck about Keegan and his Entertainers. I like winning, I don’t like losing under a flawed idiot after we’ve been 13 points ahead or whatever it was. I’ve seen more entertaining teams who actually won as well.

  153. tunyc

Sorry, but I disagree, as finding a side playing direct football outside the UK is almost impossible.

Sure almost everyone practices set pieces, but it’s not something that is part of a tactical plan, that includes direct football.

Take Barcelona, with five or six short players up front exchanging roles, they are as likely to use a short pass from a corner, as opposed to putting it in the air, their game being primarily on the ground.

Plus I disagree with your version of the Pulis firing, it’s well known the fans had been on his case for some time and any threat of relegation only added fuel to the fire.

As for the statement, newly promoted sides play percentage football, not sure exactly what you are implying.

But if you mean a direct game, possibly must have missed, both Swansea and Southampton’s games, which were
as far as you can get from percentage football.

  154. I’d take winning something over entertainment at the moment. If we played defensive, long-ball football, winning matches 1-0 and got a trophy I’d be happy. But only for one season. Over the long term I’d rather play exciting, attacking football even if it cost us a few points here and there.

Although that’s assuming that winning things and playing attractive football are mutually exclusive and I had to choose one or the other. In reality they’re not mutually exclusive of course and lots of teams seem to manage both.

  155. WORKY

That’s an opinion that you are entitled to, but I watch football for the entertainment value.

Points are important of course, but I was just using it to emphasize their significance in to-days game.

Mainly because of the current earnings from PL membership.

Yes money has changed many things in football, in fact taking over and changing the game, mostly in England, other countries leagues, not so much, none having the earnings of the EPL to bolster their sides and due the present economic conditions, the EPL becoming stocked mainly by foreign imports, especially from Spain, which took away the tax breaks for their players.

And as I have recently read some of your statement’s which were somewhat favorable to Pardew.

Though I can’t ever see that happening and I hope you are not suggesting, you would be in favor of retaining him and his style of football, if he were to earn us a top four spot.

Though I really can’t see that ever happening, unless he gets a brain transplant.

  156. Worky

Getting real! certainly in regard to NUFC.

Certainly with the clowns presently in charge of the club, to win anything is only a pipe dream, which most fans hang onto.

The fact is to win a title, or compete in the Champions League, would take much more than Ashley is willing to spend.

Plus, could he even if willing, take on the big London and Northwestern sides, doubt it.

I was certain this seasons the Spurs side, having spent a hundred million on players, would make it into the top four, which was not to be.

Though let’s see how they do with a manager, like Van Gaal, (supposedly seeing a good opportunity, a ready made side).

Though what to-days league standings do reflect is the overall importance of a good manager, which has become more important than the actual squad.

The present rumors in regard to a big cleanouts etc. in store for NUFC and the fact Chelsea, Man Citeh, Arsenal and Man. u. will all spend big money on players, this summer means stiffer competition, for those top spots.

And when you include both Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and perhaps Southampton, we could very well end up outside the top half.

So face it this club is going nowhere points wise, then that being the case how about buying us a bunch of flair players and hire a manager known for his attacking tactics (no not KK) and at least have some entertainment outta the season.

As opposed to Worky’s attitude “it’s point’s that
count”, not as far as Newcastle chances of winning a top spot are concerned, lets play some attractive football and zero in on winning a domestic cup.

WTF worky? What did we win in the modern era BEFORE Keegan’s first spell? And what did we win AFTER? Yeah, Sir Bobby stabilized the ship and gave us a few good seasons, but KK came desperately close. Twice.

And all this ‘loser’ bullsh|t might have its place in other countries/cultures sports, but teams COMPETING and playing good football in England will always be respected by the fans. I don’t EVER want to see us play like we did under Fat Sam again.

You had plenty of complaints yourself last season when Pardew’s favorite tactic was to hoof the ball over the midfield.

  158. Hugh @ 184#

I doubt if you would enjoy watching what you described as defensive long ball football.
And there’s no guarantee that it would earn us more point’s.
Better to be entertained, I mean I remember watching Sunday Morning Pub Leagues, where as many as three games would be playing simultaneously.

And being young, that i had no affiliation with, which one would I watch, the sides playing entertaining football.

After all that’s the name of the game, show business entertainment, and anyone expressing dull opinions like I just want the points, has my sympathy.

  159. If we get a chance to win something then let’s WIN something, by all means.

It’d be great for the club to have a philosophy of playing the skill-based entertaining game the fans want – with a manager that has the nous to shape the team to ‘win ugly’ should the need arise.

But this is all academic to us at the moment, of course. These are problems big teams who genuinely intend to COMPETE have.

  160. We won three FA cups in five years in my time which believe it or not was in the common era.

  161. Hmmm ! is it gonna be PSG vs Chewsea
    or RM vs B.Dotmund.
What to do, what to do !

Gan doon the pub n’watch both at the same time, genius !
Plus a little nosh, accompanied by a little libation, should make for a pleasant afternoons entertainment.

    News flash
Ashley being awarded seventy million bonus has just been rejected by the share holders, poor Mike, I feel so sorry, though perhaps he may be ok, as his recent fortune has been estimated at three billion quid, enough to get by in I reckon.

  162. At the end of the day it’s “The Entertainment Business” whether we like it or not.
I would love us to win something if we had a balance between free flowing and attacking football, And we defended when we had to.
By the same token i wouldn’t want to pay good money to watch Stoke City under Tony Pulis.

Those nights against Barcelona, That’s what it is all about and why you go to watch imo.
I agree with Keegan in the fact he said it was like attending a theatre, Because some of the times we had under Keegan, You must have been entertained.

I also agree when some people said he was a demagogue who rabble roused, And pulled all the right strings with Geordies.

I would still take Keegan over Pardew any day of the week because the football under Pardew is neither nowt or something!

  163. @183

“I disagree with your version of the Pulis firing, it’s well known the fans had been on his case for some time and any threat of relegation only added fuel to the fire.”

Fans on his case-that’s what you saw during their first two years in the top flight, when they were playing absolutely the exact same football as when Pulis was fired? That’s not what I-or all the pundits who raved about their very vocal supporters-saw.

worky-your relative levels of patience with Keegan and Kinnear are, how shall I put it, fascinating?

“worky-your relative levels of patience with Keegan and Kinnear are, how shall I put it, fascinating?”

I don’t believe in prejudice, tunyc. I take them both Keegan and Kinnear the same without any preconceptions or bigotry. Both achieved alot and won trophies as a player under some truly great managers (Bill Nicholson for Kinnear and Bill Shankly and Ernst Happel for Keegan), and though neither if them won any recognised trophies as a manager, they both achieved something in their own way I suppose.

The mystifying thing about Keegan is that he was never as talented as some of his contempories like Cruyff or Muller, but he still rose right to the very top witrh his two Ballon D’Ors through sheer determination, the one thing he never showed one scintilla of as a manager. He couldn’t possibly have a better education for a future coach either.

Another thing is that everyone lies about Kinnear and though you might enjoy seeing an old man being libelled and bullied, personally I don’t find it entertaining at all.

  166. WORKY

    No one bullied Joe Kinner.
Most simply responded to his dumbass actions.
Yeah ! no one denied he HAD a decent career in football, but his latest antics, bigging himself up with ridicules claims, mislabeling players, and in general attempting to justify Ashley’s hiring him.
    Was more pathetic than anything.
And of course, the unforgiving and predatory press, found a vein the could mine, but he himself bore more responsibility, by his reactions, insulting both the press and fans.
What did he expect, shouldda just dummied up.

  167. Looks like our French players, out with injuries, are making sure they are ready if called on to head for Brasil, ermm! resting up.

And with rumors of Debuchy leaving, i’m gonna warn him, not to head for PSG, having watched the PSG vs Chewsea game yesterday.

Cabaye is having a problem getting a start and looked awful yesterday, coming on late.

As for Debuchy replacing Jalette, no way, though he is thirty years old, but IMO never put a foot wrong.

Yeah! I was impressed by the side, that for the most part dominated Chelsea and deserved their victory.

  168. Seems to be the same old story emanating from the dressing room, everyone is happy to be at the club and there’s nothing but a feelgood harmonious set of players.

Believe that and I got a good deal for you, concerning a bridge.

It was apparent on Saturday the players were not up for it, with constant bickering and arguing taking place, concerning who was responsible for what.

Anyone who missed the obvious body language, wasn’t paying attention.

Plus the news is not good, with rumors of a clearout, including Debuchy wanting away, can you blame him.

Contrary to bullshit coming from the PR department, I very much doubt any of our players is either on the same page, or particularly contented at this club.

I mean how would you like to show up every training day and have to listen and deal with Pardew and Carver ?

Yeah the PR department is in overdrive, with any number of good players being targeted, problem is most are also in the sights of real clubs, Juventus, Chelsea, etc.

And knowing how cheap Ashley is, don’t expect too much, hell he must be stewing having the shareholders of “Shit Direct” refuse him his bonus of seventy odd million quid
for the second year in a row.

    My heart bleeds for him!

So as usual, chaos and doom emanating when you read between the lines, the way the PR guys are talking, bigging up our youngsters, I guess we will see a lot of them soon, cheap replacement’s that will be acclaimed as the result of a successful youth system, the new Man. U. youth system, yeah right.

It’s certainly gonna be an interesting summer.

However please don’t raise your expectations, one should simply by previous observation, know by now how Ashley works.

  169. tunyc @194 #

Look it’s common knowledge that the Stoke fans had been calling for Pulis’s head long before their relegation, concerns.

The reason being, they were tired of watching an awful style of football “Direct Football” a relic of a bygone era.

Believe what you want, but that’s why he’s now plying his trade at Palace, who are actually benefiting from it.

But managers who play that game all eventually succumb to the fans distaste, for a style without much saving grace.

And as I stated above, I doubt if either he or BSA will last at either Palace or West Ham, being the owners understand and react to their fans wishes, plus both clubs have a history of playing entertaining football.

Which could mean we NUFC could end up with the last footballing dinosaur in the PL, obviously Ashley unlike his owner counterpart’s pays little attention, to the fans, having his own agenda.

“Look it’s common knowledge that the Stoke fans had been calling for Pulis’s head long before their relegation, concerns.”

Yes, maybe quite a few Stoke fans did get a bit tired of the style, the board more so or he’d still be there. However, to suggest that Stoke fans as a bloc were all “calling for his head” is taking things too far.

A few smaller teams brought in some managers playing a more flowing game without being relegated (I wouldn’t include Roberto Martinez in that as he WAS relegated. :-) and that changed the old mantra that you have to play a percentage game to survive if you’re one of the lesser Premier League sides and I daresay the Stoke board took note. Mark Hughes though? Fairplay though, he’s certainly doing alright so far. Getting back to Pulis, whatever his style, he’s still never been relegated.

Stoke fans knew what Pulis did for the club over the decade or so he was there, and that it was very doubtful they would be where they are without him. When Crystal Palace played Stoke, most of the Stoke fans were wearing Pulis style baseball caps as a tribute.

  172. WORKY

I agree and stated that, but you have to admit, he drew the heat due his confrontational attitude.
He being the other side of the coin, but hsd he kept his mouth shut, it would never had occurred.

  173. WORKEY

I never denied that his (Pulis) style of football, like BSA’s enabled the sides they managed, to avoid relegation and that at present Palace are benefitting from it, as are a once threatened W/Ham.

But will never be secure because of the ugly style of football they resort too.

And though there’s no way to guage how many Stoke fans were either pro or anti Pulis, it was certainly a fair amount, being we were certainly made aware of it by the tv announcers and pundit’s.

Probably similar to the present situation at NUFC, where you might still find a sizeable number of fans who are of the opinion Pardew is doing a fine job.

All I can say concerning Martinez and Wigan, is he never
resorted to direct football, didn’t have a lot of money to spend and did beat a pretty good side in the cup final, most of which was due to good recruiting and tactics.

He’s also doing a pretty good job at Everton and will probably finish in the top six or seven, plus I believe he will end up managing an even bigger club eventually.

And didn’t we go down to the second tier ourselves not too long ago, but who do we blame for that?

  175. And tunyc, you question my treatment of Kevin Keegan and Joe Kinnear, but they were treted completely unequally and yet you’ve haven’t questioned that. Keegan was totally lauded unctuously from the start but Kinnear was hated immediately and never stood a chance. I’ll admit he wasn’t always great in interviews and didsn’t seem to have had alot of training at that sort of thing.

“Worky, Wait until we all get the Micro-chips in our hands!

That will be Ashley’s next announcement. The new season tickets will be a chip implanted in the head of the season ticket holder that projects Sports Direct ads before the eyes whenever he or she is within the vicinity of a Sports Direct shop. It could also project Wonga ads to everyone in the cheap seats. That will be the Newcastle United of the future with Ashley.

  179. Worky, Have you seen what DARPA are capable of?
They could actually control someone’s behaviour by getting them to drink a liquid, Which contains a nanobot that can control a human being, Scary stuff indeed!

  180. Ashley will be straight into it with cans of pop full of nanobots to control season ticket holders for years to come lol.

  181. So there is to be an open topped bus protest tomorrow through the city against Ashley.
This will coincide with the end of the tax year in which the board have reached their paltry pre-season goals of mid table mediocrity!
I wonder if they have borrowed Stardust’s Red Bus by any chance?

Pardew is expecting transfer activity this summer, Well he can expect as much as he likes, Expecting and it actually happening are two different things.
I honestly don’t know why he doesn’t keep his mouth shut because no one believes him anymore!

  182. @ 196: I completely agree about the similarities, down to each being bafflingly hired by AshleyCo after years out of the game and extending to the lies used to slander them (we know about Kinnear; with Keegan it was the absurd transfer lists that supposedly showed how out-of-touch he was and claiming his charge of constructive dismissal was a trumped up way to juice the club). I really do. I was just surprised by the vehemence of your comments about his first tenure. Sure, he was never anything but a man manager, but since he did that well and is associated with a period where ownership showed actual desire desire to win-surely you can relate to the fond feelings most have for him, even extending to a misguided desire/willingness to accept him back as manager.

@ 206: I’ve addressed that before, worky. If you go around being as bombastic as possible and by default telling people about how much smarter you are than them, you can expect a few to line up to kick you when you’re down. I’m not saying it’s right but it’s not surprising. Kinnear’s a big boy-he can handle it, just as he can accept plaudits for successes achieved in part because he’s a hard-nosed f’er. Whereas it seems to me that Keegan is well liked, which doesn’t surprise. He’s spirited and confrontational at times but he’s also clearly affectionate and has some humility to him. For example, he’s had at least as much success as a player and a manager as Kinnear and yet he didn’t spend time telling everyone about it in interviews when hired.

@ 207: it used to be a good option for us ‘murkans. Not so much since shale oil & Harper arrived on the scene…

It wasn’t the same at all with Keegan and Kinnear in the media. The media weren’t after Keegan like they were with Kinnear. Keegan was the wronged wife usually. The ‘madness of King Kev’ was Llambias. They gave the media stories against Hughton as well once they decided to sack him.

Well he certainly wasn’t very affectionate to Bobby Robson after he didn’t pick him for the England team in the early eighties. Mr Hubris seemed to think he had the right to pick himself and went ballistic about it, inspiring Newcastle United fas to spit at Robson when he was at SJP in his capacity as England manager. Kev certainly knows how to nurse a grudge, they were still making digs at each other when Keegan was England manager (and vice versa – see below). Keegan was also the only one who didn’t have a kind word to say for Robson after he died.

    Keegan socks it to Bobby

  185. Worky

Keegan’s beef with Sir Bobby was that he didn’t bother to tell him that he wouldn’t be figuring in his plans for the England squad. He told the press instead, who then had a great time poking KK for a response, as you might imagine.

As great as my regard is for Sir Bob (more than for KK, truth be told – and if we must quantify these things) it wasn’t the smartest or the nicest thing he ever did.

They didn’t have a great regard for each other and things didn’t improve with time. So what?

  186. @ 214: worky-no need to look past his provocative behavior toward journos. That’s why they had it out for him, it’s pretty simple. You know how I’ve commented on journalists in the past but again, if one goes out of their way to alienate them, what can one reasonably expect? I agree that piling on was petty and unoriginal demagoguery-like a lot of the mainstream media’s “product”.

As for Keegan-again, he’s human and has his character flaws for sure. But we’ll just have to agree to disagree if you see him as someone whose personality is basically the same as Kinnear’s. As for the big ego-all top performers have that, certainly the Dutch guys you’re (rightly) big on. No shrinking violets there, no sir. It’s very difficult succeed at the top level of sport if you don’t have that mentality. It’s something I suspect Cisse, for example, lacks-it affects his form and keeps him from being as good as he can be.

  187. I wonder how many Wayne Rooney will score today with only “Iron Mike” standing in his way?

  188. 3 pots in with Rooney and Van Persie given “The Freedom Of St James’ Park”!

“I was just surprised by the vehemence of your comments about his first tenure.”

Alot of people have been surprised by my vehement responses in the past, tunyc. When I was a bairn, my doctors thought it was because I was ‘stir crazy,’ that I’d been spending too much time in hospital. Decades later, I’m still exactly the same though. Just ask some of my victims! :-)

  190. Actually, Kevin Keegan’s screed against Bobby Robson after he was dropped was the act of a pathetic, self obsessed, over entitled child. Bobby Robson had never even met Keegan when he became England manager, and he wasn’t the only England legend Robson had decided to move on from as they would have old for the next world cups.

Contrast Keegan’s behaviour with that of Trevor Brooking, who is a real gentleman, not a screaming little spoiled brat who must be the centre of attention at all times.

  191. Worky, The likes of Trevor Brooking, Ray Wilkins, Gary Lineker etc, All come across as gentlemen.
They are The F.A and the media’s dream because they are a bunch of a**ecrawling sycophants who say the right things.
These people never tell the the truth and just candy coat everything.
You will never hear them say anything controversial and they all toe the party line.

That’s why Cloughie never got the England job because he was too honest and outspoken for those old farts!
I remember seeing the footage of him calling the Polish Keeper a clown lol.
“You Can’t Say That Brian”! was the cry by the usual suspects you get on these shows.

I would rather listen to people like Joey Barton and Roy Keane because they have something worth listening to.
People like Brooking, Wilkins et al make you want to put your foot through the television.

  192. Watching the Citeh vs S’ampton. game, teams like this are what puts the “premier” into the EPL and the reason more people watch this league around the world than any other.

  193. Joe, with all respect that’s silly. There’s a difference between going against the grain, being controversial or whatever and sticking ones bottom lip out and having a tantrum like a spoiled two year old. You can’t just stick people into two different camps like that. You can’t compare Kevin Keegan to Brian Clough.

Keegan damaged England with his own selfish megalomania, and most of his arguments at Newcastle were over money. He even insisted on having a percentage of the gate written into his contract. He doesn’t bleed black and white, he doesn’t bleed red either, just green.

  194. You know, I have watched Bayern and Barcelona this week and think I prefer the way Real Madrid and Liverpool play.

Madrid and Liverpool are an exciting brand of football with pace and flair for most of the game. The tippy-tappy only has that for a few minutes. Sure, Messi is amazing but I can make a cup of tea and watch the highlights whilst I wait for him to score. The inter-play is not that interesting.

Still 1000, million percent better than Pardew’s Toon though.

  195. Man City’s second team are beating Southampton 4-1. I am not sure if I want to watch Ashley’s reserves today. F@ck knows, they might surprise me :) It is Moyes after all.

  196. FFS: Gosling ahead of ben Arfa? Next, you would think Pards being in the stand rather than the training ground would make a difference?

It is tactical!!! Shola on at 70 minutes.

  197. Newcastle United (4-4-2): Rob Elliot (G); Davide Santon, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (C), Massadio Haidara; Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Dan Gosling, Yoan Gouffran; Luuk de Jong, Papiss Cisse.

Subs: Jak Alnwick (G), Paul Dummett, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Steven Taylor, Hatem Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi, Adam Armstrong

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Anders Lindegaard (G); Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Patrice Evra; Darren Fletcher, Marouane Fellaini; Ashley Young, Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa; Javier Hernandez

As I said the other day, we’re living in Pardew world. we do have a fit centre forward out there whose confidence isn’t broken, but he’s on the wing.

  204. Phisix, if it said “about:blank” in the address bar of the blnak page you saw, that’s normal. Then the AceStream player loads the stream if you have it installed. I’m watching on a laptop though. I don’t know about tablets, mobiles and such.

  205. Gosling actually playing with conviction. trying to get things going and pushing himself. We need more players to be like that.

    Playing well so far.

  206. Ashley Young has a bad hand – could be 6 months, like Marceleno. Hopefully it is his w@nking hand because that will rule him out of the world cup as well.

  207. Terrible game, look’s like slow motion, compared to the Citeh game.
Obviously no game plan and don’t look any closer to scoring than they have since Remy decided to take a rest before the world cup.
You better get used to seeing guys like Gosling and probably some of the youngsters as we run down the season.
And where is Sammy these days, be a good game to give him a shot, certainly rather see him on the bench rather
    than Shola.

  208. It looks like we will be able to keep our scoring to “nil” again. Well done lads.

Good to give Mata some confidence as well.

  209. Had enough of this team. We should be in the Championship, at least we could score or win a game there.

  210. Thank’s again Mike !
Any chance of signing someone who can play in central defense ?

  211. Chuck: Real Madrid play Sociedad at 2pm your time. That should be a lot more interesting than this shite.

  212. Not a peep out of the home crowd and as the camera panned, the looks on the fans faces said it all.

  213. Phisix, man: you don’t want to see all the Sports Direct and Wonga signs around SJP? He has a world wide audience for his tat and loan sharks.

  214. Man U need a bit of confidence before the Bayern game and who better to give it to them than us. It is a good job they are playing their first 11 today and not saving them for Bayern. Oh….

  215. Good job the likes of Rooney were playing or it would have been a lot more!

  216. That’s enough but I did forecast it and expect little change before the seasons end, ah well!

  217. I am glad I live in Chicago because we have been killed at home so many times in the past 18 months.

  218. Ah well, Not enough time to win 5-4!

Well so much for Sandie Shaw freshening things up, It’s seems to have worked a treat.
Even he got up and left his seat, He must have forgot himself for a moment and thought, I’m not watching this s**t!, Like a punter lol

  219. Has it all gone wrong because we don’t have Pardew’s genius in the dugout though? If he comes back and we win, it will look that way and he’ll be back in the good books again.

  220. One would have to think that Ashley is either blind or stupid, to continue with this clown (Pardew)
On the contrary, we are exactly where he want’s to be, in the PL, with no cheap Eurpean distractions and will be more than content, if we were to finish in the same position next season.

He must be like them since he is the only footballer who got o levels (Worky will tell you that Hislop is a rocket scientist but he didn’t get his o levels published in the paper so I dont believe that).

The last game of the season should be fun… Liver,,pool…Liver,,,pool. Suarez against our defense… uuurrrggghhh.

  224. Remember Steve Heighway playing for Liverpool in the seventies, GS?

He couldn’t kick a ball without a commentator mentioning his degree in economics. And team mate Brian Hall had a degree in applied maths.

  225. Worky: your buddy Salah scored :) Might just get Chelsea the title ahead of Chuckpoolbrendan FC.

  226. Darth: He’s got a degree in economics, maths, physics and bionics. He thinks that I’m a cabbage ‘coz I hate University Challenge.

  227. GS: “Big Bamber”

I found it when I looked up Bran Hall’s degree (he was “Little Bamber” apparently).

It’d be “SuperHeighway” if he played today, of course.

  228. The Undertones stretched it a bit rhyming cabbage and challenge? Chuck, you wouldn’t know what I am talking about as I know your faves are Miley and the Biebs.

  229. At some point we have to score more than “nowt”. How many goals have we scored in 2014 (excluding when Stoke went down to 9 men) ?????????????????

  230. Stoke – Swansea – Arsenal – Cardiff – Liverpool.

That looks like 2 points out of 2 draws or 3 points out of 1 win to me. And a couple more 4-0 defeats.

Depressing end to the season either way.

CAN WE JUST SACK PARDEW NOW?

  231. What a season so far. Rubbish everything. Pardew is still playing the same of shite since he joined. His buys are failures and it is showing he has no idea what sort players he wants for the style of play he wants.

He rode on Hughton’s vision and now that that vision has run out Pardew’s legacy is taking shape. Remy wins and nothing else. Without Remy he has no plan. His plan is simply Remy.

How he has lasted so long I do not know but man, we cannot be a competitive team with him at the helm. He made Moyes look Guardiola like. At this pointany manager would be an improvement. It will be like 7 new players he has everyone playing badly. His latest excuse is we have loads of players out at the Moment. Apart from Remy who else is out?

  232. Everton, Man U, Spurs, Mackems. FFS any of those games should have had him sacked. Add on Southampton and it is a Geordie sh*t 5 decker sandwich.

How can anybody survive such thrashings, even when we are safe.

Err, and we got beat by f@cking Fulham as well.

I agree with everything Michael12 says and most of what Chuck is saying.

  233. Is it possible to score minus f@cking goals? Because that’s what it feels like the way we are playing now. Cisse has some voodoo curse on him never to score again and the rest are useless. Bring on Shola, that’s the answer.

What was the question? How close will his next shot come to the corner flag? Can he give away more than 10 fouls in 15 minutes?

  234. I shouldn’t pick on Shola, he is just the visible pox. The underlying virus is Pardew-Stone-Carver.

You cant really blame Ashley that much, all he knows about is selling cheap tat for 50 quid. NIKE HAVE OUTDONE HIM THOUGH BY SELLING A WHITE T-SHIRT WITH AN ENGLAND BADGE FOR 90 QUID.

  235. I mean, I can go down to Marks and Spencers and buy 3 undershirts for 10 pounds and then get 3 England badges for about another tenner. Have me mam sew them on and stand on the corner selling authentic England World Cup jerseys. I could be the next Mike Ashley me like!

  236. oh, the swoosh you say? 70 pence for a sharpie will take care of that. Still a 1000 million per cent profit and no sweatshops involved (except for the ones to make the t-shirts, badges and pen). I would pay my mother a couple of quid and it never gets warm enough in Newcastle for her to sweat.

  237. Now, I was talking to a friend of mine last night who lives in Weybridge and she said her daughter was going to go to Newcastle for University. I said no, no, no – it is too cold up there, you should never CHOOSE to go.

Then she told me about parties that her daughter goes to with her friends. They give out up to 3 blow jobs each a night because apparently it is not sex. This is in a very wealthy London suburb from a girl who is predicted to get As on her A levels. Her mother is beside herself.

Have I missed something – blow jobs aren’t considered sex? My friend also told me that 2 of this girls friends have STDs. Not sex!!!! I am not making this up.

  238. I should get back to football and stop thinking about 6 formers giving out blow-jobs. GOD WE WERE COMPLETE SHITE.

  239. I am going to make a time machine and go back to the 6th form and tell the hot girls from them days – Sally, Helen and Suzanne – that blow-jobs aren’t sex and they should meet me behind the bike sheds.

  240. I see there is an online petition to get Pardew the sack!
I have seen it posted as a link on The Chronicle Website but that was the first time i took a gander at it.
There are some colourful views expressed as some are fed up to the back teeth of Pardew!

All joking aside and putting the boot into old Sandie Shaw, Where is the next win going to come from?
He was even playing fullbacks as wingers yesterday against a team like Man Utd.
He has lost the plot altogether and Ashley is insane if he goes into another campaign with Pardew at the helm.
Next season will definitely be the worry with Ashley constantly playing Russian Roulette with this clubs future.
Pardew wants to start throwing his younger charges into battle because it might be all he has at his disposal.
Between the two of them they could well create absolute mayhem next season and eventually take us down!

  241. JOE

Couldn’t agree more, This side without Sissoko, Debuchy, Cabaye and of course our only goalscorer Remy.

Are no more than a rserve side and worse a side with a bad attitude, strolling around the park.

Add bad man management and a lack of tactical nous and you have a side relegation bound.

Watching an excellent game between Arsenal and a resurgent Everton side, looking for a European spot.

With Martinaz outcoaching Wenger, by packing the defense, ten men, preventing Arsenal from going through the middle, but always ready to spring the fast break, using Baines and Coleman.

With McCarthy running the midfield both defensively and organizing attacking plays, Naismith and Lakuku up front running their asses off, in combination with Miralles and Barkley.

It’s obvious this is a well organized side and having scored Lukaku went directly to Martinaz, and hugged the man responsible for his success this season.

Yes we had been associared with Lukaku, sure he would no doubt be happy to play with that great tactician and man manager Pardew.

If Ashley doesn’t start spending soon and get rid of this bunch of clowns managing and coaching, it will be too late by Christmas.

And there goes the second five year plan.

  242. Chuck, Did you see his post-match interview for Sky?
Even the interviewers are equipping him with excuses!
They are putting words into his mouth and he is going with it.
First the interviewer cited injuries and Pardew jumped straight on that and expanded it.
He then eluded to us being in 9th position and Pardew more or less had a veiled barb at the fans with his “Well You Wouldn’t Think So”!
I can kind of see where he is coming from on the one hand but the performances since Xmas have been shocking and unacceptable.
If we didn’t get that spell through October/November where Remy had his shooting boots on, I dread to think where we would be now.
We might have surpassed Sunderland’s goals against column after yesterday’s hammering.

We started the season badly and basically carried on from last season until the win at Villa saved Pardew’s backside again.
It’s not good enough for me and he is getting by on sheer luck.
I think he has had more than enough time to show what he can do, And he has come up short over the last 18 months or so.
It is now time for him to go because the welcome mate it well and truly wore thinner than Pardew’s hairline.

  243. A very good game, especially for the Everton fans, I just have no idea what’s wrong with Arsenal.
Looks like Martinez claim to Kenwright “i can get you in the Champions League” may come to fruition sooner than expected.
One of the differences between Kenwright and Ashley is, one chairman, is on his feet cheering and clapping for his side, the other seldom gets his ass off the seat and the best we can expect is a smirk.

  244. JOE

Yes I projected we may not win another game all season.
One get’s a sense of dread even before the games start, from both the fans and the side, who project a defeatist body language that other sides pick up on and take advantage of.

Had we not had that run with Remy’s scoring, we could very well be in another relegation struggle and it’s like deja vu all over again, comparing the last eight games with those of the relegation season, when for some reason, all confidence of getting a win, was totally missing.

If this side does not spend serious money, then i’m gonna project a season, that will be a disaster.

And how much more does it take in dollars and cent’s to hire a manager who understands the modern game, I mean it’ should be apparent to everyone by now, this guy is going no-where with the side, even Ashley.

I would certainly like to see the fat ugly git, go buy Rangers and put NUFC up for sale, but aint gonna happen, though he will invest enough money I believe to get the shirt contract, fifty thousand at a hundred quid or so aint hay.

  245. Chuck, Some think that will only happen when Rangers are promoted to The Scots Prem again.
It couldn’t come around quick enough for me although i would pity anyone who has this leech attached to them.

  246. I feel sorry for Hughton but this has been on the cards for a while with that exec putting pressure on him.
Now there is a manager who has been starved of real quality in his squad.
You look at the level of player Chris has in his squad compared to Pardew, Makes you wonder if Alan is that hard done by in the scheme of things.
Chris only really had two outlets for creativity and goal scoring in Snodgrass who i have been impressed with, And Fer.
The rest of them are honest toilers but not of the first calibre as Dennis Waterman uttered during “A Captains Tale”.

  247. What have you made of Robert Snodgrass this season?
Do you think he is worth a punt if Norwich go down, Or a one season wonder in a struggling team?
Or do you think this lad could excel further in a better set up?

“What have you made of Robert Snodgrass this season?
Do you think he is worth a punt if Norwich go down, Or a one season wonder in a struggling team?”

Joe, around the same as last season so I wouldn’t call him a “one season wonder.” Snodgrass is a right winger primarily but it’s so harder to say how a player would fit in at Newcastle now because it’s impossible to say what Pardew would do with them when they got here.

Have you ever watched Little Vurn’s best mate, Leroy Fer?

  249. Worky, That’s kind of what i mean, He has been playing well for just over a year now.
I’m just wondering whether he would continue to flourish in a better set up and surroundings.

Fer looks like has has real potential and we will see what he does over the next couple of seasons.
It can be hard to make a good assessment of players when they are in a struggling side.
Some shine out against the crap and others need to play with better players who will give them more of the ball.

As for Pardew i am hoping we will see the back of him before long.
I know Ashley would prefer to keep hold of a lap dog but even he doesn’t want to try and fund another relegation.
I just wonder how long Ashley’s patience will hold before even he has to protect his investment.
I don’t think he would get the push until the end of the season anyway, After an end of campaign debrief.
If he gets a few more dodgy results it could spell the end of his tenure.

  250. Joe, in my scouting files the cheap right winger I probably looked at most closely was Oussama Assaidi, who was cheaper than Snodgrass. He was snapped up by Liverpool though and then they loaned him to Stoke.

My top right winger was Mohammed Salah at Basle, but he was considerably more expensive than Snodgrass and was snapped up by Mourinho at Chelsea.

  251. Well Charnley has got the MD gig and Ashley has joined the board.
Charnley is another chocolate fireguard for me and has been crap at the club so far in all his guises.
The way Charnley is painting things is that the no mark will keep his job.
Big mistake for me if he does because if he is left to do more damage he will take us down.
There is a marked steady decline in Pardew’s effectiveness as manager over the last couple of years.
Keeping him on is footballing suicide because this man will not improve things in any way.
Why would you be stupid enough to keep on a manager who cannot motivate his players?

Worky, I have heard of both of these but i’m not sure whether we should add any more French players to our roster.
The French experiment has failed somewhat and i think we should give it a wide berth.

The reason i brought up Snodgrass would be because he might come cheap if Norwich dropped a division.
No doubt there would be a fire sale and a scramble for Norwich to recoup a few quid.

  252. I note from Charnley’s statement that their aim on the transfer market is to:

“focus on identifying and recruiting young players whose best years are ahead of them, which in nearly all cases means players in their early to mid-20s and not beyond.

“We don’t look at transfer windows in isolation, but rather as a full trading year, and our intention for the first team is to sign one or two players per year to strengthen the squad.

“In addition, we aim to strengthen the squad underneath the first team in order to make sure we have a strong group of players pushing our regular first team for a starting place each week. This is essential to bring out the best in everyone and provide an important element of continuity to the squad for the longer term.”

I’m presuming that the idea of buying one or two first team players a year is in addition to replacing players who leave. The way I see it, we’ll lose Remy for sure, I doubt we’ll make De Jong’s loan permanent given his lack of goals and Shola’s contract it not being renewed, so that’s three down. On top of that we could lose Colo, Debuchy, Ben Arfa, Tiote or Santon. Of course we may lose none of them but I’d have though we’d lose one or two.

I reckon we might need anywhere from three to six players just to replace those who leave.

  253. So exciting news…..we’ve promoted Lee f**king Charnley

A man who has immediately started towing the party line and with one swift statement has managed to completely contradict everything we have been told recently about this summer being benchmarked for a major restructure with in the playing staff with multiple players set to leave
As the squad currently stands I don’t think it’s unrealistic to say, excluding the players on loan, we need 6 players in who can immediately challenge for first team places
Assuming that De Jong’s clause could be activated in the summer that means one, yes one signing this summer
I’m assuming the rest will (possibly) be replaced on a one in one out basis?
    Pathetic

And what ideas does Lee bring to the dire run football side of the club?
Is this a man with huge connections within the football world?
Is this a man who has identified a style and philosophy he wants the club to play and can start promoting it from the youth ranks right up to the first team?
Is this man who can identify, scout and approach coaches to further improve development of the squad?
Is this a man who if needs be (which they do!) can identify a manager who can fully utilise the squad and continue or add to the philosophy the club wants to follow?

Or is this simply another f**king yes man put in place to continually roll out statements that are contradictory b0llox such as were in a fantastic financial position, best we’ve ever been in, but simply can’t compete with the other 19 financial powerhouse’s in the Premier League as we pursue our continued ambition and solitary target of simply remaining in the league?

It’s an absolute and utter disgrace that a club can actually state they have absolutely no f**king intention of competing on ANY level, not just for the immediate, but for the long term future!
Does this mean the 5 year plan of pushing for European qualification every season has been well and truly abandoned?

    Ridiculous
Straight from the club, f**k all will change next season, same sh1t football, same yes men in charge spouting MA’s propaganda, same heartbreak of seeing club stars flogged the second were comfortable, no cup runs, no intent of seriously attempting to compete, no pride, no soul, no atmosphere, no NUFC anymore

GET OUT OF OUR CLUB ASHLEY F**KING SCUM

  254. If we keep going in the same general direction, we could end up with Cathy the tea lady as GM, unless Ashley decides to fire her, to cut costs.

Yeah, when one looks at how well certain clubs are run,
then make a comparison, with the organized chaos at NUFC,
    it’s painful.

Though we are not alone in that regard, just look at the number of recently fired managers, many of who have been both starved of funds and given insufficient time to get the club organized.

Seemingly the word is, there’s about to be a cleanout of players come the seasons end.

But if we were to replace our current side, with a bunch of top players and keep Pardew, does anyone believe things would change ?

The real problem stems from the amount of TV based funds available to EPL sides and the fear of dropping into the second tier.

Otherwise would Ashley have gone out and bought five players just a couple of seasons ago.

Seems he had no difficulty arranging deals then, how come he’s had such problems during the last three windows.

Obviously what’s needed is a GM/Director of Football, that knows how to run a football club, not some ignorant clown found in a gambling casino. or some bean counter who inherits the GM role through attrition.

This is football, not the rag trade, so stop treating
NUFC, as if it were SD.

But what am I saying, things have just gone from bad to worse under Ashley’s direction and will continue to do so, unless he brings in someone who can explain the facts concerning how a football club should be run.

However don’t hold your breath waiting for it to happen, being Ashley listens to no one, the quintessential control freak, who believes he is smarter than anyone and it’s gonna be his way or the highway.

    In other word’s were fu**ed.

  255. “I’m presuming that the idea of buying one or two first team players a year is in addition to replacing players who leave.”

Why would you presume that, Hugh? He might mean buy one or two and rely on the Academy with players like Dummett and Armstrong coming through. And what does one or two tell us amyway? One or two top players? The odd bergain they happen across?

“We don’t look at transfer windows in isolation, but rather as a full trading year” is a piece of accountant’s horse sh*t from someone who knows less than nothing about football. Can you imagine Alex Ferguson saying “Oh no, I won’t buy Robin van Persie and snatch the title because it’s the wrong time of the financial year. I’ll tell Glazer not to bother?”

“If we keep going in the same general direction, we could end up with Cathy the tea lady as GM, unless Ashley decides to fire her, to cut costs.”

LOL, Chuck. Shareholders have refused him another huge bonus at Sports Direct recently, around £75 million despite all the free advertising from NUFC so he might put Kath in the workhouse.

  257. It appears, at least in the rumor’s column’s that we will be targeted by a number of clubs.

Krul apparently being looked at to replace an ageing Buffon.

While I don’t doubt Debuchy and Santon are also in the sight’s of some continental sides.

Colo. will no doubt attempt another return to Argentina, and of course Jonas will be let go.

HBA and Marveaux, will be sold, as will Obertan, though it will be a tough sell to get rid of all the players Pardew has ruined at this club.

As for domestic players, Taylor is currently collecting splinters on the bench and Gosling has become flavor of the month, go figure ?

Hopefully we can hang onto Sissoko, and Gouffran, but don’t count on it, as some offers Ashley cant refuse may come in.

Dejong hasn’t had enough time to evaluate, especially playing f**ked up Pardew ball.

Little Vurn (as WORKY calls him) has not matched his seven million quid price, though not a bad squad player.

I’m not even gonna make a quote on Williamson, as I believe everyone knows how I feel about him.

I would also like to see Haidarra stay, I think the guy has a future here and include Bigirimana in that category.

The jury is still out on Mapou, who has constantly been inserted out of position and as a consequence had some poor performances.

I think if Ashley had his way we would have guys like Remi Street,
    Dummett,
    Curtis Good,
    Campbell
    and Sammy,
playing for us next season, could even use
that future French star, Amalfitano, who ‘s brother is playing well, I think we signed the wrong guy.

Anyway, the club is in a mess, pure and simple, due to mismanagement by both the owner a manager (and I use that term “manager” lightly as I doubt if he could manage a healthy bowel movement)

Hey, it’s gotta be an interesting summer, if nothing else.

  258. Worky, I presumed that because it’s possible that we’ll lose more players than the one or two players he’s intending to buy, particularly in this coming summer transfer window.

If we lost half a dozen players in the summer (or even four or five), I doubt we’d be able to compete if we just buy one or two players in FY2014-2015 and rely on the academy for the rest.

  259. And Oh! forgot Tiote, lets hang onto him as he has shown quite a bit of improvement over the season.

Picking his shots and not attempting to send every opposition player into the stands.

If he could practice looking for the pass instead of just giving it to Anita, it would add so much to his game, that and practice shooting, as he has one of the hardest shot’s in the side.

It’s never too late to improve your game.

  260. Had we, as proposed by Ashley, used a certain amount of money, (I think he mentioned ten or twenty million)each season to bring in additional players and were careful in our buying and selling.

Then now almost seven years later we should have ended up with a decent side.

Yeah, that sounds like a good policy, when you compare it with the radical way of doing business, such as buying five players in one winter window, than letting a number of windows pass without buying anyone.

That’s not a policy, it’s a fear driven cheap-ass way of attempting to save money, yet avoid relegation.

But what am I saying, what else have we been subjected too, guess someone has to convince Ashley, we are about to be relegated next season, unless he both spends some money AND get’s rid of his sycophantic clown of a manager, before it’s too late, which will be Christmas next.

  261. The new Cock In Chief is already hammering home that there’ll be no change in the philosophy of mediocrity and under-investment

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2598947/Newcastle-confirm-Charnley-new-managing-director-reveals-club-sign-one-two-players-year.html

Of course, the cheeky cnuts will be ramping up the hype around season ticket renewal time just to get the sheep will rolling up to buy – then the dirty deals will be done the next day as was the case with Cabaye (I hope he’s enjoying warming PSG’s bench. At least Arsenal have heated seats).

I’ve not been to a home game for eighteen months and they won’t get another penny from me until that tubby fecker and his band of chisellers are on their way.

  262. All these words of anger, lots of testimonies of people finally jacking it in after decades of loyal support at SJP over recent months and years etc…

But the club is still getting over 50,000, there are still Geordies buying Wronga shirts, drinking beer, eating pies etc. They’re shopping in Sports Direct as well buying their Firecrap because that’s the one on the signs.

  263. Worky, It is getting too overly melodramatic to “Mills & Boon” proportions with some fans.
I bet these same knackers still go out and renew their Season Tickets.
We really are our own worst enemy and no real change will occur until real action is taken.
I stopped going round about the time Sam Allardyce got the push, Not because of him but i was wary of Mike Ashley even then.
If they are going to do it then do it!, Stop talking a good fight then standing for the three card trick.

So 86% of the fan base want Alan Pardew to get the sack?
So will all the readers of The Chronicle go along with that because it suits the zeitgeist?
I seem to remember readers being up in arms over another poll which was 96% in favour of Ashley’s overall running of the club.
“Your On Ashley’s Payroll” was the cry to People like Lee Ryder et al
This now though suits the view so everyone is behind it.
Don’t get me wrong it is time for a change and regardless of any personal view i hold against Pardew, When a manager cannot motivate his players it is time to go.

Worky, I see you travelled over to The Chronicle’s Website to have a comment yourself.
Personally i don’t think Joe Kinnear would be as bad as Pardew.
At least there would be organization, Structure, Formations, Tactics etc
Although i think another stint in front of the baying mob would probably finish the poor old fellow off!

  264. Darth, It makes you sick doesn’t it.
This is just more Ashley shuffling his grubby chess board again, We have seen this time and time again during his tenure.
All he does is swap people around and max out so called assets that are already at the club in a cheap attempt to look proactive.

If you wanted to effect real change you would bring in people who were going to enhance the club.
All this tawdry episode amounts to is another Ashley Cabinet Reshuffle.
This Charnley was working alongside Joe Kinnear so is he not also culpable for the failings in the transfer market?

I hope people don’t fall for this crap because he has pulled this stroke so many times to no favourable outcome.
People should stick to their guns over not renewing because this is just more lies and subterfuge!

Joe, the average Premier League attendance at SJP this season has been 50,366 so far. Most Geordies are lying about boycotting Sports Direct boycotting the club etc…

  266. Wye Aye!, There will not be a blink of the eyelid from Ashley until there is a crowd of 25,000 and then he would s**t himself!
It’s not going to happen until they stop his tap and put money into his grubby pockets.

  267. F**king Charnley!, He was sitting with his thumb up his a**e when the Mackems took the slash out of us!

  268. Well another whitewash by the system of a police execution.

Talking bout Mark Duggan and of course the cops who were involved, who were not only given a free ride, but praised, what kind of justice is that.

The only two civilian witnesses, one of whom, described it as an execution, the other claiming Duggan did not have a gun.

Though later one was found in a sock, approximately fifteen feet away, but no one saw Duggan throw anything, obviously planted later by the execution squad.

When shot he was, according to the civilian witnesses, standing with his hands in the air.

And not unlike the incident where the poor innocent Brazilian also executed, The Met. was Teflon, with not one slap on the wrist or even a serious investigation, all efforts being directed to-wards a cover-up/whitewash.

From the actual execution to the coroners verdict, which
more or less directed the showcase jury, to reach the required verdict.

  269. I think Cathy the tea lady should either be fired to cut cost’s or promoted to director of operations, (at her present rate) I mean, is it possible she knows any less than Llambias or Charnley ?

  270. Watched the PSG vs Chelsea game, the other day, they looked like a serious side, with Cabaye coming off the bench and not really looking that good.
I believe like a number of players throughout the years, who after leaving Newcastle for a so called bigger club.
Would have been better off, staying (a big fish in a little pond) and becoming possible cult-like hero’s on Tyneside.

  271. Looks like managers in the EPL are being fired right left and center, but we have one who has been responsible for ten losses out of fifteen games, plus got banned for loafing an opposition player.
Hell he’s got more Teflon than the Metropolitan Police.

  272. I think we should either have a pole or begin a movement calling on Ashley to replace Pardew with Cathy the tea lady, I mean would anyone notice the difference ?
    Hey i’m serious !

  273. Chuck, you might say that about the police, but the thing is that most of them are aquitted by civilian juries, and I think it’s just the same over there too. Hence it’s usually ordinary people who let the pigs get away with murder.

  274. The great motivator, having nearly destroyed the careers of all the players he received, has now fallen out with them and want’s to sell them.

Definitely lost the dressing room, just read the sides body language, probably wants a clear-out of those who have sussed him and have subsequently given up.

The way this club is being run, is a sick joke.

  275. WORKY

You very well know juries are selected, by a process where both defense and prosecution, interview a pool of prospective jury members.

However the presiding judge has the ability to and does direct that jury in it’s findings, which has a major effect on the outcome.

    Anyway, lets not discuss that.

Rather the question of how come just about every case involving The Met, where someone dies as a result of police action, neither any Met. officer of consequence, takes responsibility or admits to any wrongdoing by the force.

Or in the case of Duggan, where the evidence of non police members clearly indicates, an execution, not one police man involved, received any blame, and in fact were praised for their actions.

Yeah once in a rare while they throw a rotton egg, (the guy who killed the poor unfortunate news vendor, on his way home, who was herded up in a demonstration) who when they looked at his prior record, saw a sacrificial goat, that could be thrown to the crowd.

But even then, he too was never charged with murder, let alone man-slaughter, when there was a clear-cut case, backed by film evidence.

As for those involved in the execution of the Brazilian kid, who even though they had him under physical control in the tube, fired a number of bullets into his head.

What was the result, the head of the Met refused to resign or accept any blame, those involved in the execution, went scot free and probably no one thought about a review of a system that obviously allows for the execution of suspects.

Is this the law, you are defending.

I thought you being from the neighborhood and talking a good story about anti racism, etc.

Would be outraged by these cover-ups /whitewashes, where the police have a free hand to commit whatever outrages the want.

Does it take riot’s before anyone pays any attention to the obvious corruption of the police forces, which obviously goes all the way to the top.

Just look at the recently admitted corruption concerning the enquiry into the Hillsborough disaster, where the police from top to bottom, conspired to cover their actions or lack of proper procedures.

If they are willing to resort to that, what else are they capable of?

  276. JOE

Nah ! John died in Leavernworth, a major Fed. joint in Kansas.
When the Feds are on your case, they will, like the Met., find a way to get too you and I see little difference between them and any other cop’s whichever country they are in.

They attract a certain type and not many self respecting people would actually gravitate to doing the job, unless the alternatives were awful.

  277. As for Pardew, Ashley may surprise us, unless he is so embittered by the fans reaction to his policies, that he just takes a certain delight in using him as a rod for our back.

  278. Don’t use teflon, boys-I’m telling you from the inside, it’s seen as the next asbestos. First bad sign, like with asbestos: once in your system, it never leaves. No thank you-all copper, stainless and good ‘ol cast iron for me!

If you thought the outcome of the Rodney King beating and the OJ trials were aberrations in an otherwise fair and efficient judicial system, take a look. It’ll make you grateful you live in a civilised country.

  281. I have just read a couple of the articles on “True Faith” website.
It is coming to something when our own fans are wanting the club to be relegated as they think this will get rid of Ashley!
It is a sad state of affairs all round and we are 9th in the league.
You could be forgiven for thinking we were in the bottom three.
Such is the apathy that has been created by Ashley and his band of dick heads!

I kind of agree with them, It might have to take something as drastic as that to finally send him on his way.
As his cowardly little puppet has reminded us on several occasions, “Mike Cannot Afford another Relegation”.

Yes, It may get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better!
Some are hoping Pardew gets sacked soon because even if he brings in another stooge, It’s one more stooge down the list to chalk off until he has no one else to call upon.

How the f**k did it come to this…

  282. DB

Well if you consider a civilized country to be one where an innocent victim is executed, by a covert armed police group and with impunity, knowing they have the authority to do so.
Then that should be cause for concern, on every-ones part.

  283. DB

Actually I only mentioned the fact because it was headline news, that an inquest jury had by a vote of 8-2
voted he was legally killed by the police.

However obviously not everyone was in agreement.

It was never my intention, to start comparing the worlds various judiciary or police systems.

If you personally agree or disagree, that in fact he was legally killed, then feel free to comment as to why ?

    That’s if you are interested.

Rather than comment on people like OJ and Rodney King, concerning separate incident’s that occurred long ago and have no real bearing on this case.

  284. Darth, the police are very similar all over the world. I’ve seen the police try to fit up people I’ve known for years in prison here for absolutely no reason. And they probably would have got away with it too if we couldn’t get them the right legal representation.

Of course in the US they have a terrible problems over their ridiculous second amendment and the right to bear arms. Then they crimnalise all poor people by putting them in prison all the time. With the gross inequality over there it’s a dangerous cocktail.

  285. The one thing i have noticed globally is the Police forces of every country now look the same.
It’s like they are a World Police Force and they are all dressed the same in dark blue and black body armour.
You can switch the channel on your television and the World over you can see these Police battering innocent people who are protesting.
They are geared up in jack boots and helmets and are battering seven shades of s**t out of people with truncheons, Batons, Shields, Water canons etc

Chuck, I have heard stories about The Chicago Police Department being one of the most brutal for pummeling civilians.

Which country are you talking about?

    The USA or the UK?

“The one thing i have noticed globally is the Police forces of every country now look the same.”

You don’t see female performance artists being horsewhipped by Cossacks in many countries though, Joe.

  288. I have to admire the bottle of these young lasses standing up to a gangster like Putin.
They are prepared to go to jail for their beliefs so full respect to that!
They have to be the crapest looking punk band in the World though lol.
If your going to wear balaclava’s at least wear some menacing looking one’s like the S.A.S wear ffs.
They look like they on on their way to a session of Zumba than making a video!

What is it about Russia and the surrounding region, When ever anything happens they kind of have grubby style to everything they do and the results always appear comical?
Granted what happened here was serious but only in that part of the World would this appear to resemble something out of a Hammer Horror Film.
You don’t know whether to laugh or cry when you see a bunch of young women being beaten by the cast of “Fiddler On The Roof”, “Dr Zhivago” or “Anna Karenina” thrown in for good measure!

I remember a few year ago the two brothers out of “Right Said Fred” getting a savage beating during a Gay Rights March.
No they do not like alternative lifestyles in the former Soviet Union.
Another lovely part of the World being ruined by extremists, Religious Zealots, Right Wingers and old Imperialism headed at the top by gangsters.

Even our parts of the World continue to be ran by these gangster families.
We have to continue to stand together in peaceful protest to take our World back from these so called Elite Families and criminals.

  289. Mind you, Us Brits cannot say anything, Bryan Ferry’s son Otis and his pals from “The Countryside Alliance” stormed the Parliament Building.
They could have been armed with Kalashnikov’s or AK-47’S or whatever else!
Who was the Elite Squad protecting the place, Two middle aged, Balding, Portly gentleman in Shakespearean Tights and swords lol

“I have to admire the bottle of these young lasses standing up to a gangster like Putin.”

Apparently, thanks to FSB astroturfers and Peter Hitchens, we have got Russia wrong and we should support their annexation of Crimea and their destabilisation of the rest of the Ukraine. It’s the Ukrainians who are the baddies apparently and they never existed as a country, it was always Russia.

I remember this a few years back with Tibet, another annexed country which never existed apparently. Last time Tibet was in the news in a major way, Chinese astroturfers were all over western news sites, blogs and such were persuading genuine readers of the most ridiculous things like the Dalai Lama was actually a nazi who should be imprisoned!

    NEVER UNDESTIMATE HUMAN STUPIDITY.

  291. Like John Lydon said we should take a leaf out of the Italian’s book, Because no one does corruption and bad government like them.
He reckons you have to give it to them because they do it with a bit of style, With Lamborghini’s and expensive suits!

  292. UK & US: hand in glove; we learned it from watching you. To pretend there’s some giant gulf between our authoritarian, militaristic, security-obsessed police states would be quaint if the whole topic weren’t so important. It’s hard even to tell who’s who’s stooges. We’re working together on surveillance, the global war on terror and to be specific, the Assange stitch-up. We’ve continued the British tradition of colonial/neocolonial meddling in the middle east. We’ve even picked up your special relationship with Israel and ran with it. Gave up the monarchy thing over here though. Had enough of that.

Like Marx told us all-but hey, most prefer to listen to nationalist & corporatist propaganda-nationalism is bunko nonsense meant to separate you from your class cohorts. Hey, I’ve noticed something: the rich don’t get abused by police here, in fact they’re not prosecuted for many crimes that would send me to prison for years and the types of crimes they commit aren’t even investigated usually. And if they are prosecuted, they can be exempted from serious discipline on account of their affluent lifestyle making them unfit for prison. Do you all see this coddling of the capitalist class in the UK?

Don’t even get me going on English football fans who think it’s great that the rich in the UK don’t get taxed like they do in France, as it means English clubs can poach French footballers. Every population has about the same proportion of dullards, in my experience.

  293. It is a complicated situation in the Ukraine and i have no doubt the West will be busing agitators in there to cause trouble.
I mean they were at one stage looking to support the extreme right wingers until the penny dropped.

I mean Putin has got the stones i’ll give him that, He just doesn’t take any s**t from no one.
I can understand Russia taking a proactive stance to protect it’s own borders because an unstable Ukraine is a danger to them.
On the other hand they have always bullied The Ukraine and turned their gas off if they step out of line and been downright dictatorial with them.

I will give the Russian’s that though, It was a bad idea for the West to get involved in Syria.
The West have been caught out telling lies and doctoring footage in a cynical attempt to push us towards another unnecessary war.
Depending on which side you believe there is evidence there that suggests the so called opposition are behind a lot of the atrocities that have taken place.

  294. Tunyc, I don’t trust any political system, Any Monarchy, Or Countries anymore.
I have seen the light with the lot of them and no salvation or forward movement for Mankind can happen with the Monarchies and so called Political classes in charge!
I like the saying “The Meek Will Inherit The Earth” because we cannot go on the way we are.
Only when these power hungry, Greedy Families are not running your Churches, Armed Forces, Political systems and everything else do we stand a chance.

Just look throughout history at the trouble, Upheaval, Murder, Carnage, Slaughter, Slavery, Colonialism, And everything else these people are behind.
Starting off in Babylon through Rome up until today we are victims of The Babylonian Construct.
Until we break away from this filth and evil nothing will change!

    F**K THE LOT OF THEM!

  295. The Pussy Riot thing is ridiculous anti-Russian propaganda being pushed by the CIA & NATO. The whole dialog around them is so hypocritical and the media coverage of them has been perfectly tailored to demonize a Russian state that is no more repressive than any in the west but is willing to resist US/NATO’s encirclement and world domination via the IMF. But any problems with the coup government in Honduras? Cutting ties with Egypt? No more dealings with Burma? Getting tough with Mugabe? Even just taking responsibility for destroying Iraq and Afghanistan? Nah, can’t be doing that. But LOOK OVER THERE-PUTIN!!!! PUTIN BAD!!! This from countries that want to subject Syria to humanitarian cruise missiles.

    Some truth about Pussy Riot:

(Sorry, don’t know how to properly post links. Paste it into your browser bar if interested.)

Want to know the truth about what’s going on the Ukraine? It has much more to do with things like this than the USG suddenly deciding it supports protesters camping on squares even before the injuries of Occupy protesters abused and arrested by our militarized police completely heal (and yes, CIA was behind the Venezuela “protests”, a replay of U.S. “ambassador” John Negroponte’s attempt to organize a coup in 2003):

  296. There should be a trophy for the club that grifts the most out of the fans for the smallest outlay. It’d be a fukkin rout.

And it’d be nice to see SOMETHING in the trophy cabinet for having to put up with the last seven years of bullsh|t.

  297. Hmm, seemed to have disturbed a hornet’s nest of political thought here.

The Ukraine ? Historically Kiev was a founding center of what was early Russia.

The present problems arises from actions by the neo fascist groups in western Ukraine, encouraged by both the US and EU, and is obviously part of a NATO push eastwards to achieve an geo-political encirclement of Russia.

Though no great fan of dictator Putin, he is resisting and the situation is at a stalemate, being Western Europe is dependent on Russian energy reserves.

Putin obviously wants a cordon sanitaire surrounding Russia, a protective zone seeing the recent NATO advances easward into Poland and the massive US Military Structures built in Kosovo.

Of course the Crimea (which was ceded to the Ukraine, by Kruschev, never believing the USSR would ever disintigrate)

Has traditionally belonged to Russia, plus it’s their only Naval Base on the Black Sea and therefor point of naval exit/entry into the Mediterranean.

Not to mention the fact the area has enormous potential for the discovery of both natural gas and oil.

It would be laughable, were it not such a serious situation, and has now reached a stage, egged on by rabid nationalists and militarists on either side.

Gotta keep those Military Industrialist enterprises churning out planes, ships and everything else they waste money on, and in the end it’s the rich or the apparatchiks who benefit’

Well like BAE and General Dynamics, plus their Russian counterparts, plus jobs for the boys.

Yep! a stalemate where neither side wants to back down lest their nationalist populations interpret it as a sign of weakness, in the face of aggression, question is, who are the actual aggressors.

    Stupid, Stupid! Stupid!

Our clever politicians have once again got us into a situation, they are finding difficult to solve.

  298. Yes it looks like Ashley has given a high profile position to someone who is wholly unsuitable for the post yet again!
Like i mentioned yesterday, Was Charnley not supposed to work with Kinnear on transfers?

If that was the case then surely If Kinnear had the contacts then Charnley would work on the finance side of the deals?
So you now have a so called transfer team who have had their number halved and you are left with the man who probably knows the least about Football.
This going to work a treat, Not!
If they couldn’t sign a player between them then what chance has he on his own?

    Total Bulls**t!

  299. As for those fu***ng Cossak’s, they are just doing what they have always done, beat up on innocent’s.

There was an incident where following the end of WW11, those Cossacks who had joined the Nazi side to fight against their own people and had surrendered to allied forces in Austria.

Ended up in camps supervised by the British Army, who at the request of the USSR handed them over to the Soviets.

Which resulted in most cases, their being shot, poetic justice perhaps.

But it looks like a few survived, to once again continue to do their job of beating up on their own people.

  300. JOE We have to start a campaign to appoint Cathy the tea lady to the GM role.

I mean hell she’s got time in grade, been there probably longer than anyone.

Has probably had access to boardroom meetings, while serving tea, so understands what goes on.

She has to get it right (one sugar, no milk etc.) so has to have a mind like a steel vice.

Hey some may jeer at the suggestion, but is she in fact less qualified than any of the idiots that have held the job, under Ashley ?

Plus the job will eventually be hers simply through attrition.

So let’s get the bed sheets out, “Wor Cathy for GM”

  301. When i saw people being massacred in “The Rwandan Genocide” that was it for me!
No more political affiliations, No cowtowing to Monarchies, And no Patriotism in any way.
For the World to sit back and do nothing while that went down, I knew there was something seriously wrong somewhere!
Probably because there was no ill gotten gains to be had so no one was interested.

I will never forget those poor peoples faces as the U.N pulled out and left them to their fate.
The next time you saw any trace of these people they were skeletons lying in their church, The one place they thought they could get sanctuary.
Women and children cut down with Machetes because they were Tutsi.

  302. Chuck, She probably wouldn’t do a bad job and knows more about the club than Charnley.
I mean who is going to strong arm a nice senior citizen into tough deals.
She could be our secret weapon and put on a Oliver Twist kind of begging to get us some players over that thousand foot line!

“There was an incident where following the end of WW11, those Cossacks who had joined the Nazi side to fight against their own people and had surrendered to allied forces in Austria.”

Through the war, not just after. I have a very good friend whose Ukrainian father fought for the SS during the war. He’s still alive. He was 14, conscripted at gun point and told to either shoot the people he hated as much as the Jews hated Hitler, or have his head blown off.

You have to understand the context. To real Ukrainians, the Russians are the same as nazis are to Jews. Stalin killed at least as many Ukrainians as Hitler killed Jews in the Homolodor, the great starvation before the war. Stalin was just as evil as Hitler, far more so to the average Ukrainian.

  304. JOE

Yep ! but what about the poor bastards in the DR Congo, a misnamed country if ever there was one.

Leopold’s Belgian Congo, was commonly accepted as being the worst of the colonialized African countries, where the dead were the fortunate ones and there were millions of them who died there under a brutal regime.

And when under pressure by the US the UN and others to de-colonize, there were less than a dozen native college graduates in a country of millions.

The charismatic (but unfortunate left of center)Christopher Lumumba, apparently was considered by the US and other outside interest’s as a threat, that might keep them from controlling the country and it’s vast mineral resources.

    So the CIA offed him.

Replacing him with the dictator Mobutu, who let former colonials and US interest’s have a free hand in stealing whatever they wanted, just as long as he got his and was kept in power.

The result was that the peoples lot remained unchanged, although vast amounts of riches were exported or should I say exploited.

At present there are various and continuous military actions taking place between various factions, carefully planned so as to distract people from doing anything that may result in preventing outside interest from continuing to rob the country blind.

Their main interest being to just survive.

Unfortunately or perhaps less fortunate, Rwanda has nothing much in the way of the same kind of wealth, so was ignored.

As for Zimbabwe, the former South Rhodesia, where Mugabe has been and continues to be demonized, especially by the UK.

Being responsible for the end of the breakaway white ruled Rhodesia who then redistributed the stolen lands held by white settlers.

It’s much the same as during the Kenya revolt, the difference being Kenyatta was willing to do a deal, and because of it was treated well, being the British ace in the hole and allowing that special Settler group to retain vast amounts of former native property.

Mugabe wouldn’t crack and because of it has undergone a continuous campaign of both sanctions and vilification, because of it.

With lies such as only white farmers knew how to get production from the land, excuse me who did the actual work ?

However as much as he has been demonized, how come he keeps being re-elected by vast majorities ?

Yeah many of us older guys grew up with the belief that Africans were not as smart as Europeans, it was even applied to Indians and Asians, a ridicules nonsense that many continue to believe, including the propaganda continually served up about Zimbabwe.

  305. “The present problems arises from actions by the neo fascist groups in western Ukraine, encouraged by both the US and EU, and is obviously part of a NATO push eastwards to achieve an geo-political encirclement of Russia.”

Chuck, it looks like you have been an victim of astroturfers working for the Russian FSB. They are all over any story about the Ukraine right now and they are having alot of influence amongst who don’t really know about the history, politics and ethnography of the Ukraine.

A few years back, their Chinese counterparts even persuaded some people that it was the Dalai Lama who at fault over Tibet. They showed pictures of him surrounded by original eastern swastikas, a symbol of peace which existed thousands of years before the Nazi one. This had ignorant people believing that the Dalai Lama was actually a Nazi! It’s amazing how stupid and gullible people can be.

As I’ve already explained in the past, areas of Eastern Europe whcih suffered under the yoke of Russian oppression are a little behind the times due to being behind the Iron Curtain as Churchill called it. Hence SOME might have attitudes which are stuck back in the forties on some issues. So did our parents and grandparents. This was a time when the institutionally racist United States still had segregation and lynchings. I will say that is one of the advantages of the EU, it will have the opposite effect. Getting back on track though, this idea that Ukrainians are all nazis is coming from the Kremlin. Me and my Ukrainian friend have talked about this coming ever since Yanukovich got into power.

    Don’t get taken in.

He’d sell them if he could make a few quid. Dead, alive, rendered down, freeze-dried.

  307. WORKY

Are you saying The Cossacks were nice guys, who just did what they were told, by the Tzar, Stalin or Hitler.

Perhaps you should delve a bit more into the history of this semi-military group, who were in fact responsible for possibly killing as many Jews as the Germans, during various pogroms throughout history.

And from watching those whipping the girl group in the above clip, it appears nothing much has changed.

And I also knew people, caught up in the Crimea during the German advance and forced to work for them, some who ended up actually working for British intelligence in Hamburg, who eventually ended as DP’s and arrived in the US following the wars end.

I understand these people were not Nazi sympathizers and got themselves involved in events beyond their control.

But I would not apply that to the Cossacks who willingly went over to the Germans and fought until the surrender.

Actually the British in fact do bear the blame for their end, by handing them over to The Soviets.
but that was another political decision among many made during the war that are regrettable, in hindsight.

  308. Chuck, the hindsight of people from the two main allies who were never occupied is all well and good. However, you know perfectly well that had the UK or the US been occupied, there would have been alot of collaborators and alot of grey areas too.

To understand the history of the Jews in the 20th century you must understand the Holocaust. Well with Ukraine and Russia, you MUST understand the Homolodor, which was just as deadly. A huge chunk of the Ukraine was literaly starved to death by Stalin. With Ukrainian Ukranians, everything is seen through that lens.

It’s an old thing a bit like Ireland, which was flooded with Scottish Presbyterians, Iain Paisleys who fought like cat and dog with the locals. Stalin did a similar thing with Ukraine. It’s one of those empire type tricks rhat runs throughout history. The most obstinate, bigoted Dutch in South Africa were like that too and you know what happened there. we banished some of ours to your side of the pond. They were total bastards, like a 17thC Christian Taliban but you revere them and call them the Pilgrim Fathers now.

  309. WORKY

Do you believe i’m some idiot, who needs you to constantly corrected everything I state here, because that’s how you come across.

Perhaps you should stop listening to your neo-fascist Ukrainian so called friends, who if neo fascist , would undoubtedly deny both it and any agenda they might have.

What I mentioned was also stated by a former US Ambassador to the area recently, a state department career diplomat, not a political contributor, being rewarded for his $.

And why did you end up introducing the term a prior “institutionally racist US”, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the point.

It’s amazing and amusing that both you and Dark Brown, continue to mention subjects that have nothing to do with my argument,
    in regard to a counterpoint.

Are you also saying it’s better to be a member of the EU, than belong to some Russian federation, because the EU appear to have got cold feet about sanctions and has yet to offer any loans to the Ukraine.

Plus it may benefit them to have a word, with the Greeks, Spanish, Irish, Cypriots, Italians and Portuguese concerning EU membership.

Which by the way has never been on offer.

Whereas the US has offered a billion or so dollars, plus the EU is both unable and unwilling to back the Ukraine in a military sense, having to depend on the US military as a creditable threat.

Whereas Russia had made an offer of gas at a reduced cost, plus a larger loan than that offered by the US.

And look enough with the lectures and pontificating, because I recognize them for being what they are, poor attempt’s at a putdown.

    If he doesn’t, I do.

  311. WORKY

I have a fair understanding of what took place during WW11 both during and after.

One book which i’m still reading, having to take it one small piece at a time the title is “Orderly and Humane”
which covers the expulsion of the Germans from Eastern Europe, following the wars end.

The largest expulsion of people in human history, which is as horrific as the war itself.

Of course to-day it would be known as “Ethnic Cleansing”
Of course this is not in general a well known history, with most people in the UK and US, wishing to believe, the war stopped and everyone went home.

Well it may interest some that was far from the case, as there was still an enormous amount of things to take into consideration and sort out on the Continent of Europe and not made any easier with the so called event of the Iron Curtain descending.

An Herculean task that lasted well into the nineteen fifties, to attempt to bring about a semblance of order and co-operation.

Just a part of what happened, when countries get themselves involved in wars, whether it’s through fear, honor or whatever means, it’s about horror and hopefully those who know better, will keep a lid on the Ukraine events.

  312. Yes we know that Dark Brown, sniping at others remarks is your forte, as you haven’t the ability to introduce anything that may be of interest.

  313. Where as you, clunk, have persisted in introducing (courtesy of google) things which are only of interest to you.

And you started the sniping. As usual.

  314. Chuck, you’re dabbling in things you know nothing about and being offensive again. No, my Ukrainian friends are not neo-nazis. That’s a vile bigoted thing to say.

  315. The West will be very happy if they get klitschko as President!
He would be the ultimate puppet and would make Pardew lok like an amateur.

  316. WORKY

SEZ..”.you are meddling with things you know nothing about”

It’s arrogant pontificating like this, that exposes you for being the fraud you are.

Plus acting all hurt by my suggestion, that your friend/s from western Ukraine may be politically neo fascist, what’s surprising about that, if you are not aware that the majority are, then don’t waste my time discussing the matter.

  317. Seems wor Freddy is putting the word out, that he could be interested in a comeback as Chairman.

A few years back that would have bee out of the question, as far as Newcastle fans are concerned.

But looking at what we can expect from Ashley for the foreseeable future, it certainly has more appeal at the moment.

Certainly Ashley has his desired system in place, where he is earning money and has a worldwide FREE tv advertising board (at St. James’, cant miss the signs) for the main part of this conglomerate, SD.

He has surrounded himself with sycophants, and is not interested in any real success (though supposedly he claimed recently, that he preferred attacking football, (hey! don’t we all)

What would it take to reinstall Freddy then ?

Obviously big money, which would I assume would come from a number of backers (Freddy lacking in the readies)which I doubt could be found, though it’s not an impossibility.

Personally I would prefer someone, not unlike the Fenway group, who are already involved with a Professional Sports organization.

Face it they are quick learners, having experienced a first season, of high spending with poor results, they didn’t hesitate to fire and sell those responsible.

And in Rodgers second season, they had the cojones to inform Suarez, he had a contract and was going nowhere.
Whereas Ashley claimed we couldn’t hold onto the heart and soul of NUFC Cabaye, selling him for 19m.

Certainly ownership like Fenway, is not a pipe dream, whereas I can’t really see any oligarchs from Asia, Russia or the Gulf States, banging the door down.
Yes! we live in hope still, but not a lot.

  318. Charnley :) Ashley, director :) We are f@cked.

Anyway, I hope Liverpool win the league. Brendan has them playing good and I am not going to say anything against them because a crowing crow on here will crow.

  321. I’m not going to watch it either. What’s the point?

Just think – if we slip to 11th place, we’ll be out if the “Charnley sweet spot” and THERE’LL BE NO BONUSES PAID OUT THIS SEASON!

And who actually deserves a bonus this season. Anyone?

  322. On the other hand, the fat barrow boy would be rubbing his hands with glee.

One place difference in the table saving him a few million quid? That’s a fat cigar moment right there.

  323. tunyc, I did some research on Teflon and it says that it is safe, the potential problem is Perfluorooctanoic Acid which is in alot of things, including food itself. It isn’t in Teflon apart from being used in the process of making it and if there is any residual Perfluorooctanoic Acid in the teflon and the pan gets heatred to a very high temperature, it might be bad to inhale, maybe. It’s tiny though and it doesn’t seem to be a real problem.

  324. Sandie Shaw is at again with his repeated mantra of “We Owe The Fans A Performance At Stoke City”!
He has become like a stuck record and it’s getting tiresome.
He is saying the same thing after every game but the more he says it the less he gets from his players.
What is wrong with this joker, Is he extremely thick or does he think everyone is as daft as him?

In another riveting part of his interview he is talking about the need for five players in the summer.
So what was the patter from the other minion a couple of days earlier about two players a year?
Someone has their wires crossed somewhere along the line.
Honestly these set of idiots shouldn’t be anywhere near anyone’s Football Club.
We have heard this all before from wor Sandie, It starts off at five and it will be down to two by August.
The man has zero credibility and i would resign on the strength of that to avoid further damage to my reputation if i was him.

Speaking of Teflon, The pan should be used to whack Pardew over the head with in the vain hope it make knock some sense into him!

Sell to buy, Joe? Try and unload a big ticket player like Debuchy TO PSG for well north of £10 million and at least double their money, get rid of a few of the other players that Pardew has been using as a scapegoat.

On the other side, Bafetimbi Gomis will be available on a free if his wage demands come down and another team doesn’t pick him up.

That one or two players a years was a stupid thing to say. It’s blown their con routine where Pardew says we are looking at lots of players right up until the SEASON ticket deadline (not the transfer deadline) is over. When that happens, everything goes dead.

  326. WORKY

I’m sure both of your sycophant’s , the insulting, then groveling GS and the sniping Dark Brown, are awaiting with bated breath.

Sure you want a future, listening to that dull duo ?
If so just let me know.

  327. @ 399: No doubt. There are, however, STILL some (bought-and-paid-for) scientists who will get on the stand and downplay the danger of asbestos. Whereas in reality it is highly likely to give one a very exotic form of cancer that will end one’s life in less than 12 miserable months. I may be completely wrong about teflon but I know that research shows it staying in the body for a long time after ingestion and that some think it may never leave. That was the first facet of the danger of asbestos that was well understood: even if you quit working with brake pads/insulationg/cement 20 years ago, the mass of asbestos you inhaled is still sitting there in your lungs. I’m gonna stick with just using lots of oil/butter, lol.

They cannot even get together to come up with a decent cover story for their sordid activities.
The fans need to wake up to themselves and stop buying into this crap!

Saying that, Any support Pardew did have has all but ebbed away with even the most ardent of his defenders seeing the light of his true merit.
Funny enough i was going to bring that up about the shameful way Pardew is trying to make a scapegoat out of Hatem Ben Arfa.
It’s an absolute disgrace when a kid of his ability has been thrown to the side and treated like s**t by an oaf like Pardew.

I wonder how long it will be before Shola gets an extension to his contract with Pardew saying he is like a new signing?

Pardew can say what he likes, worky. They don’t give a fukk. All this proves is that Charmless is peddling Ashley’s message without modification; without any sign of the upward shift in ambition the rest of us were looking for.

  334. Lee Ryder also making the point that they’re playing for the BONUS – that’s all that’s left for them – nothing left for US!

Some of the French players have the dilemma of protecting themselves for the World Cup, OR pulling out all the stops for the BONUS (knowing Ashley, it’s probably free Domino’s pizzas for a year or maybe ten free items from the Shorts Direct catalogue).

    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lee-ryder-unhappy-case-deja-vu-6949833

I hope we finish eleventh. There. I’ve said it now.

  335. Darth, I’m glad you said it lol!

It would be interesting to see what would happen if Sandie doesn’t finish in the top 10.

  336. I doubt much will happen beyond them not getting their bonuses, Joe. I know there’s some talk about Pards ‘not being in the board’s long term plans’ but I can’t see that being the case as they’ve just missed a gold-plated chance to sack him for gross misconduct. I think this has been the perfect season as far as the board are concerned.

I think there’s a fair chance we’ll finish eleventh (what with ‘les sicknotes’ coming in thick and fast ahead of the World Cup) in which case chubs will light a big fat Bradley Hardacre cigar and think of how he’s saved a bit of brass at the cost of one measly league place.

Needless to say, I don’t think any of us would like to see Pardew get a bonus, and that’s all that’s at stake for us now.

  337. You can rant all you want about Ashley and his cheap-ass
hirelings, but he is in the cat-bird seat, having basically achieved his goals.

A world wide audience for sports Direct, who have already expanded into Europe (where their main marketing
efforts are about to be directed (no pun intended) being there’s little room for expansion in the UK market, plus most competition has by this time been eliminated.

Following that. it’s Asia and the US, however certain UK
companies have found that market a tough nut to crack, and withdrew.

I mean he has his free advertising, the signs, impossible to ignore, plus the revenues that come with EPL membership, bums in seats and a few other sources of income.

He will no doubt once again look for replacements, certainly whether they are young and not yet proven, or proven free agents, either way, they have to come cheap.

With the possibility of their being another Cabaye, that can be sold on for a decent profit.

As for the earnings generated by the big boys, the Man. U’s etc., no way.

First you would have to spend money and attempt to win trophies which will make you well known and successful.

It’s a risk and the only time Newcastle could compete on that level was when KK was in charge and the club were not only somewhat successful, but were many fans favorites due to the cavalier style of play and would fill their home grounds just to be entertained.

However with the coming of the oligarchs, all of that has changed, and if anyone believes Ashley, with his cheap-ass business plan has any intention of competing, with that kind of dough, then I go a good deal on a bridge i’m trying to sell.

Sure Liverpool have a smaller stadium and due to good deals in the market are competing, but they also have a
much greater world wide audience and income than NUFC.
Primarily due to their success over a decade ago.

In which case Ashley has a choice, attempt to field a side representative of the KK sides of the nineties, without spending a fortune, or remain totally cheap, by hiring sycophants for peanuts and scoop up cheaply those that will keep the side in the EPL (mid table mediocre side)and attempt to sell on anyone who will bring in a profit.

Although that has never been a publicly stated policy, it doesn’t take a lot of smarts to figure out.

And that’s our future as long as this man remains as owner.

That is, unless his plan falls apart, by not reinvesting enough and results in relegation and he having the reputation of being a gambler, what are the odd’s.
    It’s our only hope

It just shows how childish and petulant Ashley is if he doesn’t get his own way.
Pardew should thank his lucky stars for the Stalinesque reporting The Chronicle were giving the Ashley regime for too long.

  365. We all know Ashley isn’t bothered about employing the right or qualified people into positions of power as the only qualification needed is lick spittal ability.
So if Ashley did decide to dispense with Pardew’s services would he just jump up another lackey?

We know he likes to just max out everyone around him so could Peter smell the glove Beardsley not be a choice for fat boy?
It would appeal to his manipulating self to parade another former legend to the average “Sky Sport Special” fans sensibilities and possibly halt people supposedly cancelling their season tickets.
He would be the ideal replacement as he would fawn and lackey just as much as Pardew and have the team sold from under him.
Peter no doubt would be “Obviously Delighted” or “Obviously Not Delighted” at the start of his post match interviews.
I mean it’s as convenient as “Ah Fowt We Woz” he would be another automaton like Pardew.

And he says as much in the article; it’s not just a desperate sub editor stretching for a headline.

Are we REALLY so stupid as fans to give a stuff what happens for the rest of a dead season (killed in the last transfer window)? And are we really too thick to realise that the guy he’s pinning his hopes on won’t even be at the club next year FFS!?

Maybe if the club had shown even the tiniest bit of ambition and left the team intact at a really promising point in the season, Remy might actually have been pulling his boots on for the last couple of games instead of protecting himself for the World Cup – he would have had something to play for instead of some crappy cheapskate bonus for finishing in the middle of the table.

And, if the squad had been allowed to make more of this season, we might have been able to compete for Remy’s signature in the closed season – but who in their right fukkin minds would want to play for a team that doesn’t actually want to WIN anything? He’s lost to us, and it doesn’t matter what he (or anyone else in the side – staying or going) does for the rest of this season.

  370. Worky, I dropped the bollock a bit when i mentioned Rwanda the other day and didn’t elaborate enough on the point.
That Genocide was manipulated since at least the 1950’s in Rwanda.
In fact it has been a tit for tat massacre for years with both sides manipulating the other into atrocities.
Tusti Elite Classes in Uganda and other countries have used the Tusti victim card for years and the Hutu are violent savages.

There is no such thing as a Hutu or a Tusti really and it is up there with Fiat currency.
My problem was if we are supposed to care about people in the World then that should have been stopped regardless of who the aggressors were.

  371. Colonial Manipulation has devastated Rwanda but it will continue until the Rwandan people as a whole wake up to the fact they are creating their own violent destiny!

I like to watch a lot of the stuff on Russia Today like “The Keisler Report”, “Breaking The Set”, “The Truth Seeker”, “Going Underground” because you cannot get shows like that in the wishy washy media.

I’ve watched quite alot of Norm Finkelstein giving it to various Zionists with both barrels on there.

It’s sponsored by the Russian government for propaganda purposes, Joe. It was just deceiving you with some fluffy western presenters who didn’t know what they doing until Ukraine kicked off and the iron fist came out the velvet glove.

Didn’t you see those two naive presenters going off script / resigining on air in protest over their ridiculous coverage of the Ukraine? WTF did they think RT was there for?

When people ask if something is “objective” they are usually asking if it corresponds their own particular prejudices. ;-)

  373. @ 460: Liz Wahl’s resignation was coordinated with help of neoliberal think tank:

    http://news.firedoglake.com/2014/03/20/liz-wahls-rt-resignation-apparent-neoconservative-stunt/

    http://news.firedoglake.com/2014/03/20/liz-wahls-rt-resignation-apparent-neoconservative-stunt/

Abby Martin’s statement was not of a type with Wahl’s and, frankly, she seemed woefully uninformed if you listen to what she said over time about the whole situation. Also, Liz Wahl has not (can not?) give even one example of reporting something that she had been ordered to by her bosses. Oh, and she was in a dispute with the network over wages and a professional demotion that occurred before she found her…err…conscious? courage?

With all due respect, you’re too smart to be believing the western line here. Again, any situation that features the US chief executive-the guys signs off on all our military adventures-waggling his finger over ignoring international law (it was enough for us to TRY to get UN approval for Iraq, apparently) and violating nations’ sovereignty (honestly too many examples to cite but Pakistan LEAPS to mind) should set bullshit detectors pinging. Then there’s the whole self-determination thing and the whole Crimea’s automonous status thing. The hypocrisy really is thick enough to eat it with chopsticks.

Yes, RT features a pro-Russian slant. On the other hand, western corporate media features a pro-corporation slant. All news outlets have their agendas; the least honest try to hide them like “Fair & Balanced” FOX. I do appreciate RT’s willingness to take on the neoliberal/neoconservative narrative though. On balance, I find relatively little use for CNN, BBC or what we in the dwindling US left like to call the Obama Channel (MSNBC).

  374. In fact it has been a tit for tat massacre for years with both sides manipulating the other into atrocities.
Tusti Elite Classes in Uganda and other countries have used the Tusti victim card for years and the Hutu are violent savages.

No. we’re ALL violent savages given the chance, Joe.

There ARE such things as Hutus and Tutsis, they go back centuries but colonial powers like Germany and Belgium used to cause trouble between them through divide and rule, through forcing one side to work for the other and so on. Most countries in Africa nowadays were just arbitrary constructs drawn up by Europeans which have caused so many problems since decolonisation, and that’s without the covert interference in African affairs since. Europeans have been the most violent savages of all, Joe.

  375. Worky, The Western media like to paint the Tutsi’s as the victims and the Hutu’s as the savage killers when in reality they have massacred each other for years.
You hear of the clearing of Hutu villages by Tutsi elites who do not even live in the country.

I was led to understand that there were ancient Tutsi kings that used to rule in the areas of Rwanda and Burundi.
When the Belgians and The Germans turned up they were categorizing anyone as one or the other by measuring skulls of people and lumping them into either group.
So eventually no one really knew who was what so the name Tusti was given to any of the ruling classes and land owners or cattle drovers with a certain amount of livestock.
If that said farmer lost his cattle he would then be demoted to Hutu.

So in the end it just became a form of control for the colonials of the time to get them to work for them.
They were basically using old mythology mixed with a bit of truth to keep people in line.

It seems to me that the innocent people of Rwanda have been continually manipulated over the years by forces outside of the Country.
The hatred seems to be whipped up in Burundi, Tanzania where most of these soldiers come from and it is always the innocent Rwandans on both sides who get slaughtered.

“I have just looked at a rumour doing the rounds on Simon’s blog, The gist being Pardew for the sack with Sean Dyche being given the job.”

Can’t see that being said anywhere else.

In any case, regardless of which desperados are being mentioned for the job, it’s only the FANS who want Pardew out – and only around %95 of us, at that. When did the FANS opinion ever matter to chubs & co?

The only chance of getting shot of the toe-toucher is if he finally dies of shame and embarrassment – or if the SHEEP stop turning out for every game and forking out for season tickets.

Really, there’s no news at all. Everything’s the same as last week (and the week before, and the week before…) – there’s nothing to play for; we know that all the decent players are leaving in the closed season; Pardew’s staying. If we stay above eleventh place he’s still on for a bonus, FFS.

The crap icing on a very horrible cake would be if he somehow flukes a result at Arsenal on his return to the dugout. In his mind, that would amount to some kind of ‘second coming’ that we all should cheer his name for and celebrate like a big cup win.

  380. I’ve just read back the phrase “Chubs & Co”.

I apologise for any alarming mental images this may have caused (vile, fat middle-aged blokes in shiny hotpants dancing to Smokey or Leo Sayer tunes).

  381. Darth @469: Pardew is both a symptom and a cause. I didn’t even watch the game on Saturday when I saw him pick Shola and Taylor.

I am the new AndyMac :)

Anyway, I did watch Liverpool / Citeh and that was fun. It will probably come down to goal difference at the end of the season and Liverpool have us – so that must be at leasts plus 6 more for them. Even if Pards gets sacked, it will be Carver,so that would probably add another 2.

  382. Aye, you’re right, GS.

Pardew facilitates the mediocrity because his value to Ashley as an unquestioning henchman is far more useful to him than getting us a talented manager.

Pardew’s now saying that the rot started for him with the sale of Ba – he’s wrong (as well as being a chickensh|t for whining about that now). The rot started when Andy Caroll was sold and the profits from the sale went Gawd knows where. And pards didn’t bat an eyelid. Not so much as a carefully-worded hint of concern to the media. And even helped with spin – as he did with Ba; as he did with Cabaye.

Maybe we’ll get a FULL ON WHINGE from him about all that when he finally does go (which would just be a disgusting spectacle). Having said that, I think he’ll probably agree to a non-disclosure clause in his pay-off agreement.

“Get ben Arfa, and Haidaira, and Armstrong on. We have nothing to lose.”

At least we’re not in danger if relegation this time.

  384. Worky: I couldn’t watch us and Stoke. Chuck’s Liverpool and Man City was a much better game. I will watch the Copa del Rey today though.

    It is funny now…..

  385. Lee Ryder, John Gibson, ars@hole Oliver are giving it big time. The worst journalists in the history of time are bigging it up :)

  386. Darth man, the rot set in when Ashley hired Pardew. It is a strange thing that he can go on a no-goal streak like we are on now. 20 for the other teams and none for us?

If the answer is Shola, then I dont know what the question is? Stokerly even sent him back to us from the 2nd division.

  387. Worky @480: what? I didn’t click on the link but are you trying to drive away the only readers that Chuck hasn’t. A link with “gay-porn-bondage” in it might just do that. Not that there is anything wrong with that Jerry.

  388. GS, I only pointed it out because I just thought it was so typically Scandinavian.

Darth, those pictures of Putin in the woods with no shirt and the horse looked even more ‘gay’ than those stamps.

  389. Nee worries Worky @483. Oh God, will we score more than nil against f@cking Swansea? Our (wor) team is so depressing at the minute.

I heard we have the worst record of any team bar one since boxing day. Probably the Mackems are worse but they beat us 3 nowt.

We might save Arsene Wengers’s job though.

  390. Darth: I was so naive back then. I saw Judas Priest at The Mayfair and didn’t understand what the leather and studs were about. I thought he rode a motorbike

  391. GS, He rides more than motorbikes lol

Well quite a few fans are saying they want us to ship four goals against Swansea just to get rid of Sandie Shaw, Who has been on top form in all his bulls**tting glory today!

The new Judas Priest single is out now, “Bare Backing The Law”!

  392. I first saw them on TOTP in the late seventies when ‘Take on the World’ was in the charts, GS. I remember pointing out to a mate that Rob H. “obviously has a bit of a Brando thing going”!

I saw Paccino in ‘Cruising’ a couple of years later and I began to wonder… :)

‘Take on the World’ is still one of my favorite heavy tracks ever.

  393. That chinless, tofee-nosed pr|ck Cameron’s been stung by a jellyfish while on his hols, apparently.

If I can find out where the queue is to administer the traditional cure, I’ll post it here :)

“That chinless, tofee-nosed pr|ck Cameron’s been stung by a jellyfish while on his hols, apparently.”

Darth, I know a few things about Cameron and another Tory minister from people I knew who met them but I shouldn’t really say about who they were, how they met them and so on on here. They are both grade one knobs according to the two testimonies I heard from them though and the minister tried to do something absolutely outrageous apparently.

  395. I can say something similar, worky – although my story is just about the appalling bad manners of Cameron himself when the cameras weren’t on him (toward someone who was simply trying to present him with something ordered by one of his minions).

    I bloody hate rude people.

  396. GS, Darth, the current leader of the House of Commons, Andrew Lansley found himself on a crowded commuter train down here in the smoke. He immediately tried to order one of the staff (who I knew) to kick one of the proles off his or her seat so he could sit down. When my friend tried to explain he wasn’t allowed to do that, Lansley went absolutely bonkers, wanted to see his superiors, have him sacked on the spot etc…

  397. I wonder if they lost a lot of fans when he came out?
I know being gay shouldn’t define someone as a person but you would have got a few macho f**kers giving it “I Am Not Listening To them anymore”!

You always get divvies like that who scream homophobia straight away.
An old mate of mine smashed up his Red Hot Chilli Peppers Cd’s when Anthony Kleidis appeared dressed as a woman with Madonna that time.
“I Am Not Listening To No P***s” was his patter although i tried to tell him it was only a joke and he was straight.
