Poll: Is Cabaye on strike or just being protected for a sale?

Yohan Cabaye v Braga.
Cabaye: The soap continues…
There have been many baffling comments so far from Alan Pardew on the current Yohan Cabaye situation which have been about as clear as mud.

There have also been conflicting reports about Cabaye being on strike / Cabaye not being on strike, with Pardew speaking of Arsenal trying to drive his well maintained Cabaye 2.8 away from the car dealership (NUFC motors presumably) without agreeing a price, suggestive comments about how “there has to be a way back for Yohan,” how he is protecting the player and the club, how the club always comes first with him and much more…

Now, in his latest suggestive statement on the imbroglio, Pardew says that he “expects” Cabaye to be playing against Fulham:

“What I have said to Yohan Cabaye is I expect him to play this weekend. Until another bid comes in from Arsenal that is accepted or not that will be the situation.” (more…)

August 4th, 2013 | 13 Comments |

Joe Kinnear gives his latest interview to Sky Sports after his latest charity cricket match with a Bunbury 11.

In it he gives the latest news on his quests for Loic Remy, Bafetimbi Gomis and Darren Bent, along with a bit of insight into his general thinking towards the end.

He wasn’t brave enough to have a crack at saying “Bafetimbi” yet, but he’s still referring to Newcastle United’s top striker as “See-See.” (more…)

Probing Graham Carr’s scouting targets – Christopher Jullien (AJ Auxerre)

Christopher Jullien (Auxerre).
Christopher Jullien – He’s a very big lad.
Well, I hadn’t seen a great deal of the previous subject of my little mini series of players being followed by Graham Carr, EA Guingamp’s Gilbert Imbula Wanga, but I have seen even less of this tall (6’5″) Centre Back from another Ligue 2 side, AJ Auxerre.

I have only seen the compilation below and a few very small bits on the Ligue 2 highlights I picked up on YouTube, plus a very brief glance of him in a film on Carr himself. Hence, I can write even less from personal experience, and am pretty much totally reliant on a few snippets about the player online. In other words, not alot!

As you will see from the highlights video below, at the start at least it looks more like a collection of “bloopers” than “highlights,” with the defender being shown in the worst possible light. In many of the better bits, he is mostly at the other end of the pitch using his height as a target man heading crosses at goal. The player can’t really be assessed to any degree from that though.
