Steve Bruce slams Newcastle.

Pancake face Steve Bruce has slammed the way that Newcastle conducted themselves after the 5-1 mauling of Sunderland last weekend.

Bruce claims that there was no need for Newcastle to play ‘Daydream Believer’, a 1967 hit by The Monkees, which prompted the home fans to serenade Sunderland with a much cruder version aimed at Steve Bruce at the final whistle and says that such a move was “typical of our etiquette”.

I’ll get onto Sunderland’s etiquette later on, but at the minute it is Bruce who is being the pantomime dame and not letting things drop. The fact he is sounding off suggests that he is hurting, but the classy move would be to suffer in silence. I’m pretty sure that the Sunderland fans will just want to forget about the match, until January at least, and will want to try to move on and recover from this hammering.

So they could do without bitter Bruce creating a fuss about it really and heaping yet more attention on them. Talking to The Express, Bruce had this to say. (more…)
