Newcastle 1-2 Blackburn – VIDEO highlights and post-match interviews.

Posted on November 11th, 2010 | 39 Comments |

Video highlights of last nights 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at St James’ Park, for anyone who wishes to watch them again. A word of warning – It isn’t pretty!

Next up, Chris Hughton talks of the disappointing defeat, and he accentuates the positives of the performance before stating that the team need to bounce back against Fulham on Saturday with the aim of improving our indifferent home form.

Finally, Sam Allardyce explains how he nullified Newcastle as an attacking threat and lauded the ‘surprise element’ that he employed in order to counter Andy Carroll and our fearsome attack.

The Blackburn game has gone now, but Newcastle have the chance to put things right on Saturday when they host Fulham. Andy Carroll will be in for another tough time as he will no doubt end up facing Brade Hangeland in the Fulham defence.

Onwards and upwards, as they say!

  1. think people are being a bit harsh on Tiote actually after another watch, fair enough, a mistake on his behalf, but he never really had the ball under control did he.

ahh well, these things happen. The home form generally is the bigger issue which needs addressed, not some silly one off mistake. We’re a newly promoted team, we’re going to be inconsistent.

Plus, people who like to purport this ‘winnable game’ crap really need to look at results, not only ours, and see that there is no such a thing in this division. It only goes to inflate egos and heightens expectations. 9 times out of 10, you get everything you deserve in this league, and last night, we deserved nothing.

  2. I still say last night was winable. If you can’t class a game at home against a team that is likely to be nearer the bottom of the table than the top ‘winnable’ then I don’t know what is?

I mean technically, isn’t every game winnable? ;)

  3. @toonsy: Let’s hope we don’t give the win to a team who hasn’t be winning away games for 15months. ;)

  4. It wasn’t Sam Allardyce’s tactics that won it for Blackburn it was two of Newcastle’s costly errors that gave away the points. Two very bad goals to give away and unlike this very solid defense. Oh well, can’t win them all I guess. It was another great ball from Barton to end with another perfect header from Carroll to get a consolation goal.

If any team could do that, or indeed lose 5 at home in a row to Blackburn Rovers it would be us though wouldn’t it. :)

Nah I expect a response and at least a draw on Sat, I hope so anyway.

have you noticed how the bbc’s interview with Pederson doesn’t give him credit him for his goal or anything, in fact it starts with, ‘just a final thing, Joey Bartons’ and is about 30 seconds long. Again the media highlighting it.

  7. DJG aye m8,got to give time to shovel shit our way forget the game like, sure i saw ref and the two players talking about it a little later, will that be in refs report?would ask richietoon but he would have been pittled by then as normal

  8. DJG richie is always in bother got to keep a big stick handy, smashed a poor old ladys wing mirror comeing oot the match a couple weeks ago, camara got him boy raceing, and left me on a roof all nite but thats a differant storey like

whey I turn mme back for 10 minutes,

  11. Barton has accepted the charge of vc. 3 match ban.

What a shame as he has been doing so well, In the face of extreme provocation. Expecting a public appology next.

It was just a matter of time i guess. Every team has been targetting him, and the press have just been holding their breath and waiting.
Its not going to get any better from now on either.

  12. Very disappointed. I have been watching Tiote for the last few games and contrary to popular belief he does get caught in possession at times and tries to do a bit too much at times. He seemed like he wanted to beat Pedersen on the edge of his own box (which is crazy). He’s a good young player and hopefully will learn from this.
Barton’s antics are even more disappointing for me. I had hoped he had put this kind of stuff behind him. The incident hearkens back to Bowyer/Dyer fisticuffs a while back. This is something we need to rid ourselves of.
Barton is a good player but the team still has work to do on helping him channel his aggression. This cant happen again…

  13. Ice….it might be good going in the wilds of Durham but here in North Tyneside it’s pretty shoddy ;-)

  14. Poor mate, Big Sam had us well sussed. I thought JB,Jose and AC did ok.I thought Tiote had a poor game by his standards but he was gonna have one sooner or later.Krul was trying to punch the ball too much for my liking and CH should have tried something different at about 60 minutes imo. We were too predictable and not enough movement and people wanting the ball for me like….but Saturday’s a chance to put it right, onwards and upwards hopefully.

  15. Ice…aye we do thats why I would have brought on Routs sooner and told him and Jonas to cut in when poss and run at their CB’s cos nowt was happening down the wings.
