Carver set for Newcastle return?

Carver has been is temporary charge of Sheffield United since the departure of Gary Speed, but any hopes of him getting the job full time at Bramall Lane have been dashed by the fact that Port Vale have given The Blades permision to talk with their manager, Micky Adams about the vacancy.
If that does go ahead then I expect that Adams will want to bring in his own man, just like Pardew is doing, and much like many managers do when they get a new job. That would put Carver out of work and would mean that no compensation would be payable for his services, and we all know that would be to the liking of the club!
Carver is a local lad who was assistant to Sir Bobby Robson when we were flirting with the Champions League. Carver knows Newcastle like the back of his hand, and is respected by a lot of fans. Now whilst it may be a cheap move on behalf of the club, it would also be a very popular move amongst fans who are still perplexed and angry over the sacking of Chris Hughton.
It makes sense doesn’t it?
Unfortunately, very little at Newcastle makes sense, but appointing someone like Carver would make a hell of a lot of it.
I hope, for once, that the Daily Mail is correct and Pardew is looking at Carver. One thing is for certian, he won’t get a better sidekick than him. Carver has cut his teeth at levels of football right from Europe to League One and MLS in America. It would be a shame to miss out on all of that experience.
Still, as I said this is Newcastle, and common sense doesn’t seem to rule at times, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens with regard to Pardew’s assistant. Interestingly, Malky McKay is now making sounds about being ‘honoured’ and ‘privilaged’ over being linked with a move to us, so there is definately more to come on this story, of that there can be no doubt.
Carver would be great though!
He’s surrounding himself with Geordies, a good move by Pardew. No doubt some will slag him off for it.
But it is the Daily Mail so front end loader full of salt needed.
