No way Jose’s going to Liverpool says Pardew.

Pardew told Tyneside newspaper, The Chronicle:
“There’s definitely no deal between the clubs – 100 per cent.
“He’s under contract here until next summer. And we hope to open talks on a new deal as soon as possible.
“That’s where we are.”
Pardew than concluded by saying:
“We want to keep our best players, and Jose’s one of them.
“As far as anything being a done deal, that’s not true. We want Jose to stay. Nothing’s changed.”
Though of course, he also said about Andy Carroll before his £35 million move to Liverpool in January:
“We’ve given the answer to anyone whose contacted us that he’s not for sale. It’s as simple as that.”
“I can’t say to you strong enough, Andy Carroll will not leave this football club in this window. 100 per cent.”
Pardew’s latest denial comes in the wake of comments by former Liverpool defender and assistant manager, Phil Thompson. He told Nowegian TV channel, TV2:
“From what I’ve heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool.”
Then adding:
“It’ll be interesting because he’s done very well. He had a difficult first season coming into the Premiership a couple of years ago but he really understands the game now.
“He’s one of those full backs who is good going forward but he’s also a good defender and I think that is the main thing.”
In the light of previous form, Pardew’s words of reassurance will offer little comfort, and it could indeed take until the summer to see how this story will end one way or the other.
So he’ gone then?
