Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has revealed in an interview that the club have put in offers for two players, but has warned that he will not be held to ransom over any potential new signings at the club.

He also said that he is searching for a replacement for recently departed winger, Wayne Routledge, who is now on loan at Queen’s Park Rangers. However he also noted that the target will not necessarily be a winger.

Starting with the Routledge situation, Pardew said in an interview:

“We’ve lost Wayne Routledge from the squad so I at least want to replace him. I’m not saying we are going to sign a winger necessarily, but we do want somebody to come in and fill that gap in the squad.”

Perhaps it may have been wiser to have found some kind of replacement before he let the player go if he is seeking a replacement at such a late stage. But Pardew did go on to confirm that he does have offers in for two new players, and is “hopeful” that the club will get something done in the final days of the January transfer window, continuing: (more…)
