Hello, good afternoon and welcome to NUFC ‘Blog’s regular “match banter” feature, this time for Newcastle United’s home match with Bolton Wanderers.

Of course, it will not be forgotten by most readers that the Magpies were comprehensively beaten by five goals to one in this season’s first match with the “Trotters”, something that the Magpies will no doubt be aiming to be put behind them in today’s encounter. However in the world of stats, and possibly omens, this game kicks off at 3PM on a Saturday afternoon. The last time Newcastle won a game that kicked off at this time, a time which used to be thought of as the norm for most football league games, was way back was way back on 23 August 2008, when, you guessed it, Newcastle beat Bolton 1-0 with a Michael Owen goal. That would do nicely!

Just to add a couple of bits to that though, on the team news front, Peter Lovenkrands may be out with a minor thigh muscle strain, though that is not confirmed properly.
