Newcastle United approach Taylor as new assistant manager.

This is not the first time that Taylor has been approached by the club however. In 2008 he was approached by Dennis Wise for a role as director at NUFC’s academy, which eventually went to Richard Money.
Taylor was thought of as something of a hot prospect in management when in charge of the England under 21 side, where his record was magnificent. He even managed the full England team for one match, a 1-0 defeat to Italy before moving over for Sven. However his career did not plot the trajectory that many anticipated. After managing Leicester, Brighton, Hull, Crystal Palace, a second spell with the Under 21s, then Stevenage and Wycombe, he eventually moved to his current position as manager of League 2’s Bradford City last year. Perhaps his greatest claim to fame so far is as the man who made David Beckham captain of England in that one game in charge of the full team. Beckham was to remain in the position for six years.
